For SS oil drain interval is usually around 2.5k kms, FS oil, double of it. For Air cooled, low capacity, low compression, commuter engines FS would probably do more harm than good.

And Yes I have switched from FS to SS and even SS to Mineral and neither caused any problems.

P.S: Not intended to start a war whether FS is better than SS and/or vice versa, this is purely my POV.

Suzuki by Motul 10w40 costs 308/- drain interval is around 2K Kms.

Note, rather than posting queries to commonly discussed things, I'd recommend referring to post from the past few pages to know if it already answers the same, if it doesn't then posting it ensures the thread stays clean.

/ Buddy, stick to Motul FS oil that you are using, it is "The Best" oil for any motorcycle. Expensive oil means "Best performance". If you go down to SS you will feel the bike becomes sluggish and not enjoyable to ride. /sarcasm

Even after telling you theres absolutely no effect, you are asking teh same question again. Also this question has been discussed in a very detailed manner a couple of pages back so go through those pages and find your answer.

Who told you oil change interval is 1500kms for SS oil? The oil change interval mentioned in your Manual is with reference to Mineral oil. For SSO the interval will increase slightly, for FSO it will be double or triple depending on riding pattern.

Ok. So I went for the 3rd service day before yesterday (4424 kms on odo). They did a thorough maintenance this time which included tuning the rear wheel alignment / chain tension etc. I had this weird khat-khat noise as others have mentioned here. Probably from the chain / front sprocket after my 2nd service which they said is regular chain noise and should go after a while. It did reduce after a while if not totally silent. However, after my 3rd service it came back again. Its like even if I rotate the rear wheel by hand, I can hear the khat-khat noise somewhere on the front sprocket / chain. Can anyone tell me what should I do? Should I just ignore this? Also, the front and mid end (handlebars / footpegs/ petrol tank) of my bike has recently started vibrating a little during acceleration. I wonder if its cause of this chain issue

This is a classic case of over tightening the chain during service. The exta vibrations you feel are because of this.

The reason the noise goes away after a while is because the chain eventually slackens.

Weird thing is the noise doesn't creep in right after the service when they ask me to go out and test the bike, but only after I clock some 100 kms after getting it serviced : / . I guess I will check this for 2-3 days. If not I guess I will need to take this to a local mechanic. The Suzuki SVC I prefer (we got two) is a bit far from my place . What I fail to understand is, why don't they use correct measurements or some scale when they adjust the chain : /

It's almost close to one year since I got my gixxer sf red. I still hear a small tapping noise. I can hear clear when I wear the helmet. Is there any problem with my bike. Appreciate any clarofications on the same...

Tapping noise? Is it like the khat-khat sound I wrote above? Do read my posts. If that's the case, I guess its chain issue as others have suggested

It's more like a sound from sewing machine. I am not sure if it's normal with the bikes.

I do read the posts frequently. I was not able to post anything since I had issues in logging in xBhp. It's more like a sound from sewing machine...

That is exactly how mine sounds. I got the 2016 make Gixxer SF Double Disc Red. There are a lot of posts here and the Gixxer 155 thread regarding the same. Mostly its a chain over-tightening issue. Few people tried to reverse the front sprocket and that worked for a while if not a permanent solution. Also, I heard the stock chain and sprockets provided with Gixxer were not that great and people were looking for alternates like rolon. I will be visiting a local mechanic in 2-3 days. Will keep you posted if I find any solution.

Its not a case of chain over tightening. The entire swingarm is offset from the center which distorts the plane of the drivechain from the front sprocket. Its a manufacturing issue, not a defect but an issue of misalignment. This causes teh chain to wobble. If you put the bike on center stand and tap into 1st gear and observe teh chain you will see that that are moments where it slows down and then speeds up, the transition being violent wobbling. Even wheel alignment is not gonna help in this issue. After I got my rear fender elimination done I took the bike to teh SVC and told them to look at the Swing arm again w.r.t. the Chassis and now they can clearly see that its not straight. Where as before when I told them its not straight they kept telling that it looks like that because of the rear fender (pure BS I tell you). I told them to bring down an engineer or Area supervisor to look at this and initiate a warranty claim on the entire swingarm otherwise I will shoot a mail to Suzuki HQ. I hope I dont have to start a petition like in the case of RE Himalayan.

Guys sorry changing the topic. I had read previously abt Philips LED bulb for the headlamp. Next week I am going to a mechanic to install this. I don't require a very bright light as I don't do night rides much. I want just for aesthetics. Also planning to put a LED pilot light which I will ask the mechanic himself to purchase and put it.

Would very much appreciate if anyone can post a link from where I can purchase the headlamp LED kit and take it to him for installation. At service centre they won't install coz it may void warranty.

Yes, I have seen the rear fender that 'seems' to look like that ever since I brought this. Didn't think the issue was this serious. That's not great news then. This will seriously hamper the resale value of the bike in the future. I was not any expert when I noticed this noise and so can any potential buyer. Do let me know if you take any such move. I will join in. Also, even if you get a warranty claim, won't the new swingarm be the same if this is common in every batch produced till now? Even though this is more of an 'annoyance' issue, I wonder if this has any long term precursor.
