I already did , and visted one automobile shop they said it's only possible in Car coz they have large flat hoods and other big parts and it's east to coat them. But for bike it's not possible , that's why i asked , coz our friend had teflon coating,

That's a tachometer I believe. The manual mentions it in the setting RPM section.

x86 - I thought tachometer is what is on the speedo.....Probably it was that or a RPM Gauge or RPM Meter.

@ Rapper - I look at teflon coating as nothing more than deep cleaning..alot of times, i see alot of grease on the swingarm near the sprockets, on the engine guard below gear shaft and so on, i get all that cleaned properly. It being a faired bike does have more of a surface than naked but i guess it's not gona help with much else..
Sailendra - can you enlighten us with more details on the mod you posted ?

Anyone know how much replacement tyres of the same make and model will cost ? Just an inquiry.

if you are saying that "pissing in your petrol tank" is considered rough, im sorry, but i was just being funny. notice the smiley at the end? just meaning to say its the same as adding additives.

Tachometer is the RPM meter or RPM Gauge bro. So we both are right since they are the same thing.

kind of like wax polish but teflon repels everything. its the same thing used on non stick frying pans.
Since it repels oil and other dirt and things, its easier to clean and maintain. Since bike has so little surface area and its so aerodynamic, most of the dirt is on the front and doesnt really make sense to do a teflon coat.

I dont use teflon but i do use 3m liquid wax. and a good turtle wax and polish shampoo. These two are more than capable and i can tell because my bike has gone offroad and still there are no micro scratches or swirls on the paint. It takes me around 2 - 2.5hrs to completely wash and wax and buff up the bike Do this every 2 weeks or if it gets too dirty.

the tachometer display is not very accurate, so they use their own i suppose. They dont let us into the service area when they are servicing bikes here in Pune

I think i saw the tyres for our bikes on amazon.in or flipkart, dont remember quite right. Currently in office so cant check. Pretty sure tyre change can be done from outside as well. Should be simple. Are your tyres almost gone already? How many kms did they last?

de.das.dude - thanks for the info on wax polishes mate..i wud def be purchasing them and doing clean and wash on my own..Am sick of people not going a good enough job..
The device was displaying the RPMs as accurate as the last two digits..
My tyres are good my friend...if u did take a look at the pics of the rear tyre i posted above..jus scraped severely..but otherwise ok..i've only done 7k kms..in 6months..
I was just curious to know about how many kms these tyres are good for and how much the cost of replacing them would be..
The SVC guy said no one had ever replaced tyres yet..not even naked gixxys..so he had no idea about price and availability..
They take all ur complaints down on the worksheet...then explain it to the mech and fix them..all while you happily sit and wait..(i mean c'mon...!!)
And i kind of barge in..they do ask me to jus be seated but i don care...i don hv the kind of time to keep going back so i mk sure i get them to fix every god damn little niggle so that i don hv to bother going agn nd agn..

It took a while but they know me now nd my bike..they do an excellent job..it's just so great to know you put ur trust in people and a brand who care abt your satisfaction..
They did introduce me to a ASM of Suzuki once and he took alot of feedback from me..i was glad to help..
I don jus leave it to them...i get my hands dirty too..talk to them...keep asking things..that,s the only way to get issues sorted.

@ rapper - haha packet of grease..:-) you crack me up..

The SVC manager said if i give in writing or E-mail them any issues i face with my gixxy and attach photos if possible..for which i want a fix, he will file an FTIR and get it fixed for me...i was like WoW..!!

Guys if u don't specifically ask, they will use idematsu engine oil which is crap..demand and pay extra but use motul one..black bottle..FS..does the job perfectly..but does quieten down the exhaust grunt alot. :-[
Downshifts are butter smooth but upshifting is still hard but way better than before..
Also, i'm sorry to say that we have to live with the lower ground clearance scraping the exhaust cos' i tried fixing the skid plates that Suzuki came up with as a fix to that problem..which cost 1650rs..but couldn't since it was not possible on the SF..possible only on Naked ones...

ahh i missed the images. some images get blocked by the office monitoring system maybe it looks like NSFW content

getting hands dirty is the best way to know the bike. My bike was giving really bad mileage so before i took it to the SVC i check all the possible issues. I made sure my chain was clean and lubed it myself. I cleaned my air filter (which was surprisingly clean even after being driven 50kms on sand and gravel tracks :P) This meant that my carb needed tuning, since i dont know the settings for my carb i just took it to them and they did it. Now i can just tighten the a/f screw to close while counting how many turns i do and i will know the current carburetor setting :P

If you want some tips on washing and waxing i can help, i ofcourse didnt get it right the first time but man it makes such a huge difference You can look at my instagram. i have the same username there as well. And people LOVE IT! All stop lights people stare at the bike and miss that the signal has gone green

Gear get jammed rarely when I'm putting the gear from 5th to 1st or netural. Gear gets normal when I move my bike a bit. Is there any problem with my clutch plate?

I'd like to know at what RPM does the SF do ~100kph in 5th gear? Also, is the bike short-geared or tall-geared?

Thanks.
4th and 5th are sort of long. rest are short. In general it is short geared. this is why the race bike from the cup series uses a bigger front sprocket(it also has slightly more power)

Nothing is wrong. Bikes have sequential gear boxes, this means you are supposed to use one gear after another always. If your clutch was too tight this would not happen. But that would be wrong. if in motion after changing gear let the clutch loose just a bit around 20%. solves the issue.

This happens specially on japanese bikes for some reason.

in sequential gear boxes, they are operated by a cam and follower system rather than fork and lever like in cars. Also in bike, you dont fully engage a gear actually. You just move it 50% of the way and the rest is done by a spring. Due to this if you dont engage a gear and run on it, the cam gets jammed which is not good for the bike.

kannanmr - i'm sad to know your selling ur bike bro..honestly i don't think any roads in india are built for speeds more than 100 - 110 and gixxy goes those speeds comfortably..so..but i concur with your point about feeling the lack of power..wanting more. But it cud be you getting more experienced and wanting more now..you probably have outgrown ur gixxy..pity.
I can tell you though that i faced the same problem wid squeaking noise on disc and my regular bike expert at SVC fixed that problem in a jiffy..he said when we ride nearer to the dividers on city roads and also going off roads, we shud nevr apply disc as extremely fine sand gets into the disc setup and that causes the noise..he opened it up..cleaned it..roughed up the pads and voila! It's got more bite now and noise vanished..probably ur svc is tryng to get money out of u replacing the part..check it out..
All the best for your future endeavours and do keep us posted,.cheers.

debanjant - bro whichevr make of headlamps you choose make sure they do not exceed 30/35 watts as anything more will overheat and may burnout the reflectors and doom..chedk out phillips extreme vision..let us know if you find a fix..
x86 - dude, the company recommended rpm is 1500 but that will mean lesser fuel efficiency considering traffic in cities and lots idle time..optimal and best would be either 1100 or 1200..more to come on that in a bit.
Philips Xtreme visiom is 55/60W I think.

Engine refinement of Suzuki is better than Bajaj, you can be guaranteed 0 vibs on 100kmph even after 3 to 4 years, but after 2 to 3 years Pulsar's engine starts giving trouble...Everything is my own experience...IMO!!
