The RPM of your engine without rider throttle input. When you start your bike and leave it running without touching the throttle, then your engine is idling.Originally posted by suvam234 View PostSorry for this stupid question...but what does idling at 1000 rpm mean....?? they do not clean carb in the servicing ...Originally posted by suvam234 View PostCan you tell me something about the pick up issue i talked about....and should i clean my chain and airfilter again....because i did my first servicing in the last week of feb only...
servicing is just oil change , oil top ups , air filter cleaning and bike wash . Nothing else is done.
get ur carb cleaned and see to it that your acceleration cable does not have any play in it.
and do not start your bike in the morning with the choke pulled .
and a small reminder its a 150 cc bike all u get is 14 ps output.

Should i take it to the service centre to get the carb cleaned or...to a local bike repairing shop??Originally posted by omkar budhale View Postthey do not clean carb in the servicing ...

Probably because your AFR is set too rich. With the choke ON, it causes flooding and no detonation.Originally posted by de.das.dude View Postbtw anyone here, has choke issues? my bike does not start with choke on :P
Would love others' inputs too.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

first thing i checked and had it tuned. Now idle is at 1k RPM but still no choke starts. it will start only if i use throttle which means that still too much fuel for air.
now i am worried if the carb is bad and something wrong with the choke air bypass. i poked around on the SVC and they said its fine and normal. i know its not though.
how do i get around to having it replaced?

In that case, first make sure that the choke cable is functional and not stuck. Maybe something as simple as that!Originally posted by de.das.dude View Postfirst thing i checked and had it tuned. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Replying late on a post I was tagged to.

That is good!
As for 90kph, on wide sweeping turns are not a big deal at all. I have been riding for 2.5months now prior to which i had no riding experience.
Wow! Such confidence in just 75 days! You must be greatly skilled, brother.
Please ride safely. I'm not being sarcastic here. You'll hone your skills with experience.
20% of my rear tyre on each side is still untouched. Which means i am riding far below the limits. So i do ride very carefully.
That is good. Public roads are NOT one's garden and that remaining 20% better be exploited only on the race tracks.
Before going onto main roads i used to get out at night and test the limits of my bike, i.e. what point is rear slipping under too much braking, at what point front is slipping. Then practice in those conditions to improve my skill.
Use a parking lot (office) which is well lit rather than public roads, especially at night.
remember its not the speed its the skill. Speed doesnt kill, lack of skill does.
Both, in fact! Skill helps only till a certain limit of lunacy.
Thanks. People in india still act like 100 is such a big deal! Even at 100 bike can stop within 6meters on adequate breaking.
Wow, an SBK doesn't stop in such distance from 100 kmph! What bike you said you ride?Replied inline.Originally posted by leech View PostYou think 100 kmph on a highway is bad, then you better not run into me. If the roads allow me, I always do 140+, and blare my horn at all the poor commuters who dare travel in the fast lane.
Sad, people don't realize that the most important thing which should help them decide what speed they should move at - NOT the throttle, but brakes.
Leave absolutely crazy situations aside, but few simple panic braking situations are - herds crossing the road, cow runs across the road suddenly, an unseen crater of a pothole, oil deposits yada yada yada.
If your bike can stop from 140+, do 140+; else please don't be a projectile that would cause someone else to not return home.
But, despite putting the points across we have members who are proud of doing insane speeds for our highways. Few have the audacity to revert back and support the wrong, but then they aren't understanding the point that high speeds are the cause of most accidents in our country, be it 2 wheels or 4!
Once, cruising at 75kmph, while checking mileage, I almost got run over by a bus even though I was on the extreme left side of the road. The kind bus driver left me 2 feet of tarmac to ride on, as he overtook me.
I realized that, its always better to ride ahead of everybody, that way you can concentrate on the vehicles in front, without the worry of being rear ended.
What is the difference between you and the bus driver then? Both ride at speeds they can't maintain safely. (explained above)
Let me tell all members one thing very bluntly.
Any mention of lunatic speeding which comes across me, will be deleted - irrespective of what else/how important that post may be!
Wearing riding gear doesn't make one a safe rider. Doing crazy speeds with all that gear on doesn't make one imperishable. understand, while you can!
Erring members should be prepared for getting an infraction per post, ultimately resulting in a ban.Last edited by Divya Sharan; 03-13-2016, 10:06 PM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi guys,
This post is nothing related to the bike but just a reminder to all the fellow riders.
I had recently been to the service center for my 3rd service, and at the service station i saw 4 gixxer's that had taken a hit in an accident.
Guys this number keeps on piling up, the number of gixxers that have been in an accident just goes uphill (This is after asking the service station guys, he says there are atleast 3 accident cases per month).
This is a 150cc bike, though it looks like a sports bike, it is nothing like one; yes it may be the best in class 150cc bike for the year and for say many years to come, but it does not come with life protection.
At the end it is a normal bike that does normal stuff on the road.
This was the same issue when R15 and p220 had hit the market many years ago and it lead to the police keeping a keen eye out for bikers on these specific bikes even today (in Mumbai). Lets not make gixxer suffer the same fate. Let people look at the bike with amazement and wonder, not with doubt and terror.
I would just like to remind people that our bike looks good and performs good, but that doesn't mean that we hold the throttle down all the time and aim for the red line.
Once in a while a trip down the fast lane is good but doing it always it not, because no matter how good a rider you may be, the road is full of lunatic drivers/riders, and may be the reason for your crash (which i hope no one has).
Love your bike and value your life, drive to keep the bike for years and not to make them your last years.
Take care, ride safely and ride wisely.
Thanks
