Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Again quoting from gixxer forumsOriginally posted by dhruvwali View PostA few pain points of my Gixxer SF -
1. Low ground clearance - Whenever a pillon is present the bottom scrapes on tall speedbreakers. Shouldve given higher GC.
2. Clunky gear box - Presumably this will improves after 1st and 2nd service, but as of now the gear box has a lot of false neutrals inbetween 1-2, 2-3, 5-4, 4-3 etc. Mostly this is seen in start stop traffic.
3. Engine cutoff at low rpms - Happens at traffic lights when the engine is hot. Also happens some times when it is cold. Has reduced compared to earlier, but the issue hasnt still gone away.
4. Squeaking noise in rear and front brakes
5. Rear brake pedal play is more than needed, rear brake bike is very less(Incredibly weak rear brakes). Front brakes are great though.
6. Eco indicator never gets displayed - I always have that Lightening bolt symbol next to ODO. Irrepespective of speed/rpm(under 5k max). Is this an issue?
Has anyone else seen above issues and how are you dealing with it?
1. adjust your monoshock
I will help less scrapes
Cant tell you exactly at what setting but everyone is neutralizing the problem by following this method
2.gearbox is tad clunky on the sf
Tell the svc guys
They will apply some sort of lube
Everyone had done it in gixxer
3. Its a inherent carb bike problem
Cant help you with that
Though changing riding pattern helps
For instance when i started riding bikes i was less attentive to clutch and faced this problem regularly
When i started using clutch according with higher gears it vanished
4.Brake at a steady pace to smooth the surface out
Speed up to 40 and apply both at the same time till you slow down and speed up and do the same
Your disc will get hot as a oven
If it does then your doing it right
Follow this for a day or two and i think it will vanish
5.change the rear drum brake pad
It has a hard pad
A fellow rider installed a soft one which cost him around 200 i guess and he said it worked like magic
6.cant tell you about eco indicator mate
As far as i know there is the high beam, rpm, and two side indicators and neutral

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
1. Hmm Meaning make the monoshock setting higher, so it becomes stiffer? Its already too stiffOriginally posted by debargha.kit2 View PostAgain quoting from gixxer forums
5. Any link/name of this brake pad? Will the SVC guys replace it if I ask them to do it?
6. Yea, I've read everywhere that there is an eco indicator, but how do I acess it is the mystery.

1.The monoshock will depend upon your weightOriginally posted by dhruvwali View Post1. Hmm Meaning make the monoshock setting higher, so it becomes stiffer? Its already too stiff

For instance i am a 200 pound guy and i like stiff suspension because on bumpers i feel like i am going "into" the bike
Though its a personal opinion and every one has different tastes
Find a sweet spot and it will work charm
For a suggestion apply the brakes when your are just about to touch the spead breakers
Just enough to roll the bike forward over the bumper
And then speed away
And you can easily avoid scrapes
5. I cant remember the name but you won't find it in showroom and they will not do it if you bought it from outside
Go to any bike shop
Tell them that you need a SOFT brake pad and they will give and assemble it to your bike
For that being a pad svc guys won't notice it and your warranty won't be void
6.ask the svc guys at the next service or go through the manual thoroughly
If these two doesn't work then its just a three minutes mile
And if you want to get better milage follow tge the break in procedure
Use less clutch in traffic
Instead shift to lower gears
Listen to your bike
She will tell you when to shift
Master it
Dont matter how good or experienced a rider you are each bikes requires time to master it's tricks
Dont go above 60 70 and 5 6 k rpm
And you will be churn out close to 50
One of our fellow sf'ian has managed 59 in highway and 55 in city

Will see how the performance is after 1st service. Is there any disadvantage of using a soft brake pad?

Durability
Soft pads will wear out faster than its hard counterparts though its not a problem
If it saves your life then the replacement cost is justified

just to get an idea, how long do hard(stock) pads last and how long is a soft pad expected to last?
I understand it depends on how I ride, but can you state an average figure?

Actually i have seen very few people to change their stock brakes mate therefore can't tell you exactlyOriginally posted by dhruvwali View Postjust to get an idea, how long do hard(stock) pads last and how long is a soft pad expected to last?

I wont give you A wild guess
Even people who ride their 6 7 old bikes does not change it at all
(Veterans correct me if i am wrong)
You can post it in gixxer forum
If someone has done it he will surely guide you properly
But presumably there will a few months worths of difference

debargha.kit2, Just subscribed this thread. IMHO it was not really necessary for the mods to make separate threads for the Naked and Dressed sisters [emoji1].
Cheers !
