Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
This is my first ever post on xbhp, bought the gixxer sf fi 2017 on 18th june and im really excited as it is my first personal bike 😊😊😊
Also as i have never done a break in on a motorcycle earlier can anyone suggest the proper steps to do break in for gixxer af fi, the manual mentions only 4.5k rpm.
Currently im running the bike at speed of 40-60km/hr sometimes 70km/hr.
So am i doing it correctly ?
Also the svc guys told me to opt for 3 year extended warranty of the engine at price of Rs 700 but i didnt opt it , they told i can opt in anytime within 90days of the purchase date ,so it mandatory ?

Break-in procedure is not rocket science. Dont go around reading on internet on how to break-in. After doing some research and talking with a professional mechanic I came to realize that the popular Motoman's method is actually not feasible so if you come across his article, dont follow it.
Simply follow the recommended RPM cutoffs for respective KMs as mentioned in the Owners manual. And keep varying your speed through the RPM range for the mentioned cutoffs. So for the first 800kms, keep your RPM under 5000 but keep varying it, dont give a constant throttle input. Also deceleration is important as well. So find a good stretch of road and upshift at 5k rpms till 5th gear then go into deceleration and keep shifting down to first gear. Rinse and repeat.
Personally, I did not take the bike into City traffic until 500kms. I broke-in the bike during early mornings at 3am. I did my first oil change at 100kms (not under free service)
After 500kms I took the bike upto 6k to improve 5th gear roll on acceleration.
As far as extended warranty is concerned. You have to decide between fixed service intervals for Manufacturer warranty after 2 years or less local service cost with No warranty.
I have gone with it. Just gives you a peace of mind that if any component goes wrong within 5 years, you are covered for free. But after the free services you have to go in for paid services at regular intervals, even if you think a service is not required. So thats the only drawback but its fine. For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi All,
Today I brought Suzuki Gixxer SF-FI (Blue).
Can't take my eyes of it...
Since it's a new bike and first(new bike) for me I need some suggestions like speed limits, RPM, taking care, how much longer can i ride it as its a new machine, how to take care of it in upcoming months etc.
I really want to keep this baby at its best.
I know all these things are explained in this thread somewhere but it is quite difficult now to search each and everything in these hundreds of pages, so please bear with me and help another Gixxer brother.
Thanks.

Well,You should not rev the engine till 4.5 rpm till the first service done. Further , instruction are given in the manual , where u can find details regarding the break in period of your bike.
Happy riding,
Peace out !

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
It's been about a year since I got my Gixxer SF Blue. Things were going great, until yesterday. I commute to work and the ride is about 18 KM one way and majority of that is on NH47. I was steadily doing 80KMPH when it started drizzling. I tried to slow down and get into my rain gear, but alas. The throttle felt locked, I mean, I was able to rev it, but the RPM was going crazy to 7500 when I turned off ignition. Despite all attempts to check the issue by myself, I was lost. Being on the highway and yesterday being Ramzan, there weren't any mechanics close by. After pushing the bike for about a KM into a village, I found a mechanic who checked and found that a small rubber piece which is a part of the throttle cable was stuck and because of the friction, the cable was locked. Attaching a picture of the culprit next to a grain of sugar.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Yes there will be a problem so stick to 10w40. Besides, that oil is for SBKs not for our little 155cc engines.Originally posted by Sandi888 View PostMotul 300V 104125 Factory Line Ester Core Fully Synthetic 15W-50 Petrol Engine Oil for Bikes (1 L) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00C719TES/..._JlYuzbEJK1E1H

From your research, can you provide the basis for using a Fully synthetic engine oil in a 155cc motor?Originally posted by Navk View Posthi folks, my gixxer sf recently finished serving me for one year with 7400kms on odo, and finished free services . I'm not a person who does scientific research bro, I asked few of my friends who are using this motul fully synthetic oil and from their positive feedback, decided to use this engine oil.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostFrom your research, can you provide the basis for using a Fully synthetic engine oil in a 155cc motor?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Bro....if yo completed 6k kms on odo, go for fully synthetic motul 7100 10w40 (costly but best one, recommended by suzuki)Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostFrom your research, can you provide the basis for using a Fully synthetic engine oil in a 155cc motor?
Oil change interval 4-4.5k kms,
FS oil provides good performance, engine smoothness n minimizes hard gear shifts
or
Just stick to motul semi synthetic oil one provided by svc. Theres no harm.
Oil change interval 1.5-2k kms
Its simple.
Ride safe n use proper gears.
