Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Does anybody have the user manual PDF ?"If you want to be happy
For a day, drink
If you want to be happy
For a year, marry
If you want to be happy
For a lifetime, ride a motorcycle."
"Travelling in a car is like watching a movie. Riding a motorbike is like starring in it."
"Riding a bike is an art - a thing that you do because you feel something inside."

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I visited svc and they took the bike for checking and told me that i will get the bike in two days they also quoted that they will call me up if any major damage is made within the piston rings and bores and quoted an estimated price of 6k inr and also told me that if any minor problems like valve clearance and timing chain adjustment are made ethen it will be done for rs 500-600 . I told them it's within the warranty and the manager asked that let the work be done then i will see to it !!Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostThe manual clearly states that you should exclusively tell the SVC to check the valve clearance.
The work is not started and I'm in doubt should i keep it or not ?Last edited by kuulbhaskar; 01-02-2018, 12:58 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
They are actually trying to rip you off by performing an engine overhaul which is not required. Is this manger the SVC manager or the showroom manager? Go and talk to the showroom manager and give your complaint to him first. If that doesnt work shoot Suzuki an email. Valve clearance check should be done for free. And this is not something that requires warranty.Originally posted by kuulbhaskar View PostI visited svc and they took the bike for checking and told me that i will get the bike in two days they also quoted that they will call me up if any major damage is made within the piston rings and bores and quoted an estimated price of 6k inr and also told me that if any minor problems like valve clearance and timing chain adjustment are made ethen it will be done for rs 500-600 . It's the person who is doing the job sheet.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostThey are actually trying to rip you off by performing an engine overhaul which is not required. The manager i think doesn't have any technical knowledge and he's just nodding his head when i explained him the problem .
Also does the valve clearance requires to open engine head ?Last edited by kuulbhaskar; 01-02-2018, 01:19 PM.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Valve clearance can be checked and adjusted without opening the block head with the help of feeler gauge. It's a simple job and requires 5-10 minutes at max.Originally posted by kuulbhaskar View PostIt's the person who is doing the job sheet.

Okay you may have to take off the valve cover but still it won't take very long.Originally posted by RookieRider1907 View PostValve clearance can be checked and adjusted without opening the block head with the help of feeler gauge. It's a simple job and requires 5-10 minutes at max.

How do you check the valve clearance without opening the cylinder head cover in this bike?Originally posted by RookieRider1907 View PostValve clearance can be checked and adjusted without opening the block head with the help of feeler gauge. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Yes I was mistaken, it can't be done in this bike. You'll have to take off the valve cover as I mentioned in the next post but the whole head need not be disassembled for this.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostHow do you check the valve clearance without opening the cylinder head cover in this bike?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
My bike tick tick sound has been fixed by a local mechanic well known to my friend. He just adjusted the time chain using screw driver by adjusting the screw present at the back of the engine. The sound has completely vanished after this.
The svc are completely shit finding out the problem. The just want to rip you !!
Also i have installed the night eye led headlights 36w which arrived from China today and has been installed by the same mechanic and the light throw is of it is awesome, soon i will post the pics of the headlight throw.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
So this mileage trend is OK?Originally posted by docprashant View PostI have a gixxer sf, roughly 10 months old. Done 18000+ km till date. I get an average of 35 kpl, but let me explain my riding style further.
My riding style-
I ride alone 25 % of the time and with a pillion (55kg) for the rest.
I tend to stick to the almost perfect roads in delhi, and tend to avoid traffic hours.
I accelerate hard, and try to maintain a speed of 70-95(speedo indicated). I go beyond 100 everyday, though rarely for long.
Highway/expressway runs- typically at full throttle and 100 plus speeds. I get 37 kpl her.
Yamuna expressway- at constant 118 (speedo) almost throughout - 33 kpl
Chandigarh highway run- 80 to 100 kph most of the time (best figure 40 kpl).
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xBhp.com mobile app
I am also doing accelerated riding. As it is OMR road I suddenly go to 90-100Kmph and have to quick accelerate and descelerate.
Currently I am getting 37Kmph.
The mileage trend is declining in every service
Before 1st service(during breaking): 52Kmpl
After 1st service : 43-45 kmph
After 2nd service : 37kmph.
I am real scared for mileage after 3rd service if the same trend follows.
I am really not expecting 50-55kmpl as other people claims.
But I am expecting atlast 45kmpl.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Do you calculate the mileage by using full tank method or by reserve . By the way i will recommend full tank method where just fill petrol till brim of the tank and then reset any trip meter and note the trip meter till you fill up the petrol full again next time. If you have FI model then maintain at least 2 litres of petrol !!Originally posted by utkarsh17 View PostSo this mileage trend is OK?

By the way i have also finished 3rd service just last month and my mileage is constant 45km in city and 50-52km at highway !!
Mine is FI model !!

Great mod! But won't the battery life be affected by this as the bike is equipped with aho?Originally posted by kuulbhaskar View PostHere are some of the shots taken after installing NIGHTEYE LED Headlights 9005 9006 H4 Universal COB LED Headlight 36W 4500LM 6500K. Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
No it wont because stock bulb itself is 35w and this led is 36w so one wattage more power wont effect that much !!Originally posted by RookieRider1907 View PostGreat mod! But won't the battery life be affected by this as the bike is equipped with aho?
Just to keep in mind that to keep the engine running while using !!
