Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Yes, not required for switching oil types. No manufacturer recommends a flush with chemicals (STP, Waxpol, 3M & many available in the market) or diesel/kerosene. Flush is usually recommended when the oil change is delayed for a long time but here we have the risk of clogging oil passages with the dirt unsettled by the 'flush' chemical. Did somebody recommend flushing the engine to you, if so, what was the reason given - something like completely getting rid of mineral oil in the engine, etc?Originally posted by THANIGAIMADHAVAN View Post

When switching from mineral to SS or FS and switching from SS to FS, one has to completely get rid of the oil type whichever we used earlier.. PS : ABOVE reason AS told by my SVC mechanic.... when i switched to MOTUL RACING 300 V.. For my naked gixxer... But i have not done flush of any kind.... Till date..

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
SS is a large part mineral oil only. It is not possible to completely get rid of old oil - some amount will always be trapped in the engine. If one uses a flush, a little bit of that will mix with the FS/new oil.Originally posted by THANIGAIMADHAVAN View PostWhen switching from mineral to SS or FS and switching from SS to FS, one has to completely get rid of the oil type whichever we used earlier.. You can invest that money on some good oilOriginally posted by THANIGAIMADHAVAN View PostPS : ABOVE reason AS told by my SVC mechanic.... when i switched to MOTUL RACING 300 V.. For my naked gixxer... But i have not done flush of any kind.... Till date..

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hey guys!
My bike recently completed 23K Kms and both the tyres have worn out. I checked out MRF dealers in my area but they all don't have the front ZAPPER FX and quoted me Rs. 3.3K for the rear REVZ M.
I also visited store that deals with CEAT tyres. They have 100/80 ZOOM PLUS F for front and 140/60 ZOOM RAD for rear. The size and pattern is similar to stock tyre. They rubber also appears to be soft-medium compound.
Since the stock MRF tyres aren't available I was thinking of going with the CEAT as I need a tyre change urgently.
Does anyone here switched to CEAT?
If so how is the experience? Particularly high speed grip and cornering feedback.
And also how does the tyre perform in wet conditions and braking?
Help please!!

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hello everyone, I've just come to service my bike for the first time and the service centre personnel is saying that they will be putting synthetic oil for this time and for all subsequent services. He said it will cost 650 Rs. I was a little surprised that it is that cheap.

As per my experience Synthetic Oil is not recommended till first 5000 kms and my first service cost me around 350-400Rs.Originally posted by RookieRider1907 View PostHello everyone, I've just come to service my bike for the first time and the service centre personnel is saying that they will be putting synthetic oil for this time and for all subsequent services. Yeah that's what I was thinking but he's saying that your bike is fi and bs4 model so I must use synthetic oil throughout.Originally posted by SOMESH SHINDE View PostAs per my experience Synthetic Oil is not recommended till first 5000 kms and my first service cost me around 350-400Rs.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Its a grey area. Depends on what synthetic you are using and how much Synthetic it contains. Even with all teh advancements in machining technology, experienced riders still believe its best to go with Dinosaur oil until the break-in is complete.Originally posted by RookieRider1907 View PostOkay I will but still there's no harm in using synthetic from early on right?
Nobody knows what % of synthetic is present in teh SS idemitsu oil. Nobody knows what % of synthetic is present in the ECSTAR R9000 FS oil. Nobody knows what % of synthetic is present in the Motul 7100 FS oil even though it states 100% synthetic.
If we were talking about middleweight or high capacity bikes, then you could go with FS right after teh first service. We/I dont know how, small commute class engines like that of teh Gixxer responds to FS oil after the first service in the long run.
If your SVC is using the SS idemitsu oil that costs around 390, then thats fine. Iam not sure what the 650 is about? R9000 costs 599. If you include the filter which is 50, then that might make it 650.
Anyways SVC personnel wont know the details and differences between different types of oils so its best to study about these yourself. For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

How many kms has your bike done bro??Originally posted by RookieRider1907 View PostHello everyone, I've just come to service my bike for the first time and the service centre personnel is saying that they will be putting synthetic oil for this time and for all subsequent services. As others have suggested, there is no hard and fast rules on when you can use synthetic oil and what effects it might have on a new engine. Some say its good, others say iot harms the new engine.
I would suggest to run the engine about 5k kms on mineral oil, then use semisynthetic oil for 3-4 k kms and feel the difference, if all is well, try fully synthetic after about 8 k kms. Then whichever engine oils makes the bike feel the smoothest, stick with that one.
I own a R15 V2 and it uses fully synthetic oil right from the factory, works well for a pure bred track focused racing bike. Also the amount quoted by your mech is too high, the fully synthetic oil from Yamalube is less than 500 Rs, motul and other good ones also cost in the same range. Please ask the brand of the oil they are using, its too expensive.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Something is not right brother.Originally posted by RookieRider1907 View PostHe quoted Ectrar r9000 fully synthetic at Rs. 599 and the oil filter at 50.
I have never heard of this company of engine oil and google search displayed nothing regarding it.
The price is still shady because oil filter is not that cheap, mine costs 200 Rs for R15, I expect atleast 100 Rs for the gixxer (experienced Gixxer owner can throw some light on the price).
I would advice checking with another service center regarding this, see if both of the products and their prices match.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
