Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
While removing, handle the pump hose yourself. Be stern when you do it. Take the hose straight up above the brim and immediately turn it 180degrees so the mouth faces upwards. Hand it over to the pump guy.Originally posted by White Fang View PostFor My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

He he.. Pump station won't allow customers to do any interference bud.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostWhile removing, handle the pump hose yourself. Be stern when you do it. So ultimately if that guy made a mistake it will reflect on my expense. No point of arguing with them.

This is making me wonder whether I should get the ABS version or not. I am going to test drive both (with and without ABS) in a few days and finalize the deal.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostNo cons except the ABS is intrusive and depending on the situation may or may not decrease the stopping distance in time to prevent an accident. Ofc it will prevent front wheel lock up but it wont prevent teh accident.
"Some sort of plastic covers" Its called ABS Plastic, google it (and no its not Fiberglass as some people might tell you). Any petrol spill on the painted surface will immediately start corroding away the paint but very slowly and No, waxing the bike will not help. The paint on this bike is just pure BS. Its a single stage paint with no clear coat so dont worry about paint too much, you might need to get it repainted in the future anyways.
With regards to your post, I really appreciate you sharing with us your 4-step braking system and how to train our muscle memory, etc. As of right now, I don't think I have a system like that.| LG 24GM79G-B 144 Hz Full HD Monitor | Intel Core i5 4440 @ 3.10 Ghz | ASUS TUF Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2 | Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! If you are in full gear, they will understand the situation, dont worry. Atleast at my regular pump all the workers are quite friendly.Originally posted by White Fang View PostHe he.. Pump station won't allow customers to do any interference bud.

Find a good stretch of road before you start brake testing.Originally posted by ravihpa View PostThis is making me wonder whether I should get the ABS version or not. I am going to test drive both (with and without ABS) in a few days and finalize the deal. For My Gixxer Related videos: Click HERE

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Hi all
I would like to know the life of the chain sprocket set.
my bike ran 14800kms till now and chain making the sound in running, I showed it to the mechanic in SVC and he said to replace the chainset in next service.
I asked him about the life of the chainset and he said its 10k for not maintaining well and go up to 15k if maintained well, He also showed that chain is tight at some place and loose at other places.
I thought it is too early to change the chainset as the bike ran only 15k kms and only 1 year old. Do I really need to change the chainset or is there any other problems for the sound?

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Did you get the chain tightened? I get it done every 3000 km or so. I think the manual says to do so every 1000km. Use lube, and keep it clean. Don't run it dry.
My chain has lasted 26000km, and is in good shape currently.
Another guy posted here said that he changed the chain at 37000km.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I’d say change the chainset with sprockets. I know it’ll cost you some money but it’ll be good for your health and for the bike as well. Imagine you’re waiting till 15K and meanwhile in middle the road, chain snaps and finding yourself in very awkward position?Originally posted by Prasad Vogooru View PostHi all

So go for the change mate. It’ll worth a while. [emoji106]

What do you think about frame sliders guys? Should i fit them to the bike or any other better solution?

I think this will be a good precaution to prevent getting the plastic parts getting damaged as well as leaving some space not to crush the leg in case of a crash. What do you think about this guys?

I will clean and lube the chain whenever I hear the sound from the chain. but the real life of the chain is 10k only ? is that correct?Originally posted by docprashant View PostDid you get the chain tightened? Sure mate, I will change the total chainset including sprockets thanks for the reply
So guys what is the cost of chain sprocket set in SVC. Can I get it from outside and fit it with a roadside mechanic or go with SVC only?
How to maintain the chain to get the max life from it, if the answers are in previous pages please quote the page number
And ppl from Hyderabad suggest good SVC for servicing the bike as the Mahaveer Suzuki at Kukatpally are lazy and do more bad to the bike then good.
thank you guys for your amazing feedback

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
I just stated that mine has already lasted for 26,000 kilometres. It will last at least 4000 more, since I see no slack or damaged links.
In my last bike (fz), I abused the chain a lot, and it used to run dry half the time. I had to change that chain every year (18000 km).
Lube before the chain goes dry (ideally after cleaning, but I'm not serious about this).

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF : Ownership thread
Unfortunately i have to wait till delivery to verify that. I'm assuming GSX sliders will fit into this one as well. My concern is, i have to buy online these sliders and it will take 3-4 weeks to deliver the products to me. So i have to be very careful during that period. I've ridden a basic indian one for almost 10 years so i'm worried about the bike balance, rear disk break strength, front abs performance and gear shifting patterns.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostDoes your bike have provision for frame slider mounting?

1. First rub & clean the chain using a cloth to remove dirt, grease and oil.Originally posted by Prasad Vogooru View PostHow to maintain the chain to get the max life from it, if the answers are in previous pages please quote the page number

2. Then apply some gasoline, diesel or any liquid cleaning material to the chain and use a tooth brush to get the stuff underneath the chain links. Leave the chain dry out for couple of minutes.
3. Finally Apply silicon chain lubricant evenly to the chain and sprockets to finish the maintenance.
Watch this awesome video tutorial to clean your chain at home. This one used some products to clean the chain besides i have explained above but will get the job done.
Repeat this process every 400-500 KMs you finish. If you're a heavy rider then inspect the chain before you ride and clean as necessary.

Well there goes my frame slider worry. I think i'll stick to stock version and replace the fairing after an accident. Can't bare a chance to bend my frame. But since i'm not a speedy rider i think i can try my luck here though.Originally posted by PaddleShifter View PostI'd advise you against frame sliders and teflon coating. Its not really worth to get teflon coating and the only reason one should get one is if its free of cost and the dealer is not willing to give cash discount if you refuse to get teflon coating.
Regarding frame sliders, it is always easier and more economical to change the fairing as compared to getting the frame bent if the frame slider transfers all the stress to the frame.

But yaar, doing this every 500 km would be like doing it every 10 days for me
