I'm a proud owner of GS150R from Hyd (as u can conclude from my user name.. ). I've registered on xbhp a couple of days back and this is my first post.
Could only do 550 odd kms on odo. Planning to go on a long drive on 26th of this month. It's giving me around 52-56 kmpl mileage. Top speed I've been on my bike is 70 kmph (@5000 - 5500 rpm). Waiting for that elusive 800 km to test its top speed. Still enjoying the exclusivity on Hyderabad streets....
Hey welcome to the club.....congratts.....and do not cross 7000 rpm even after the first service....that is close to 90, to test the top speed wait for second service,,thats what I am doing......waiting for second service but leme tell you driving this baby at 85 is shear pleasure, thats the sweet spot driving at highways.......its butter smooth at 85 just glides with ease.......

            • Long drive

              Hi folks,
I'm planning to take my orange baby for a long drive. We're going to Basara (Goddess Saraswathi's temple) tomorrow morning. It is 220 odd kms from Hyderabad. Have completed 680 kms till now. It'll be 1150 when I return back. Since the 1st service interval is 750-1000 kms, I called my dealer and they said that it'd be ok for 100 or 200 kms more.
Aur @sam bhai, it surely does feel very smooth at 80 kmph. Even at that speeds engine doesn't feel stressed.
And one more interesting thing... I got 60 kmpl (in city conditions) two days back.

Negative would only be some people commenting that Suzuki is not well established in India after the split with TVS. But you know that you're riding a great vehicle!

actually the bike is quiet new to the market, and i m readin all positives abt it.. so m feelin a lil scared..
this thought came due to FZ, which looks awesome,. and if i had money at the tim it was launched, i would have surely bought it for it looks+Yamaha brand name.. but now when i read the reviews, i find a lot of probs wit it..
so.. i dont want to have similar feelings after spending close to 70k..
because in my mind i still have NEW GS or ESTABLISHED UNICORN confusion..

I say its way ahead of Unicorn AFA technology&features go. It is not yet established in the market, thats it.
But if you are looking at it to satisfy your sporty needs, it wouldn't help, as thats not the area where it would shine, when pitted against the other sporty bikes. It is essentially a commuter friendly tool, with some extras like 6th gear so that it doesn't run out of breath on the highway too.

I can understand your requirements. IMO GS is the best bet for city commuting. Latest features, strong look, very good ergonomically, has a heel&toe shifter, good mileage, with an added bonus of 6th gear for highway overdrive. Keep her between 80-90 on the highways&I'm sure you'll be very happy with the butter smooth performance&mileage too!
Coming to Xtreme, it also has a very smooth engine, one of my friends owns one. Decent mileage&comfort too. Overall similar power. However, I found GS a better package in terms of features&appeal. Moreover GS is new in the market. I would say go for it eyes closed!
