FZ doesn't has the Fuel Injection System!!

Throttle position sensor sends signal to the engne controll unit (ECU) which in turn controlls the ignition and fuel injection timings which again is what Fuel Mapping is. So saying that we can not do fuel mapping with carburettor is wrong.
A carburetted bike cannot have an ECU instead has a CDI or Digital-CDI!!

Now what I believed was or may be I still believe is that the ECO PWR mode we are talking about is electronically connected with the TPS sensor and adjusts the TPS depending up on the mode choosen.........which in turn adjusts the fuel mapping. Like for eg if the TPS idealy directs the ECU to do x% of fule mapping at a particular throttle position it would differ if the PWR mode is selected and same for ECO mode.................Thats what I think......I hope I made some sense....
You are partially correct in here but again one cannot do "fuel mapping" on a bike which doesn't have the ECU(which only works in a bike with Fi system)

The system employed in GS is nothing new and we already have seen it's 'first' appearance in TVS Victor. It had a digital-CDI with two ignition maps namely Power and Economy mode. The ignition maps changed respective of the throttle position. The GS works on the same principle but it responds to RPM position.

Yesterday i went to have a look at the GS150 in a zuki showroom.Sadly they were not giving any bikes for test ride. But i found some interesting bits after seeing the bike close. There are 'two' throttle cables running to the carburettor. Now this supposedly means they imply Power and Economy modes. The showroom guy changed the setting from Power to Economy by selecting in the instrument pod.Now does this mean that at any particular mode only one assigned cable works.I am clueless...Anybody noticed this??

It's called a push-pull throttle cable system. When opening the throttle the cable pulls it open and second cable pushes out, when you close the throttle the second cable pulls it close when the primary cable is pushed out. It is a safety feature to return the butterfly to closed state IF the spring snaps.

On bigger engines push pull throttle cables close the slide in case the engine vacuum suck it forward preventing it from falling back.

                    .
Well I would still say I was pretty much on target except for the fact that there is no ECU.......what I meant logically was TPS sends signals to any unit (CDI was the correct technology) which controlls the mapping.
Not having ECU in a non EFI engines makes sense and I agree I totally missed it.
                    Thanks for clearing this.. :-)

I may differ here...."Fule Mapping" does happen only the technical way differes in EFI and CDI systems..........check my initiall post....

                    • My 2 cents...

I cant help shake off that feeling that an element of the Gixxer is present on the GS150R. That headlamp and taillamp just makes me think that is it really a 150cc bike?
wont be surprized if Suzuki renames it the GSX-150R.

My nickname for the Lanza/GS150R would be the "Baby Gixxer". cant help saying it.

On another note, sometimes my ZMA makes me feel I am riding a Honda CBR 954 RR or a VFR 800 in real. Sorry mods for the OT.

Yep servicing done and complete, and I must say (may be it was the first service) I had no problem in explaining things, narrating issues and service person there was patient enough to listen......however I could not witness the service as there were few other bikes in queue. But I was very satisfiled. In the end the dealer made sure that all the listed checks have been done and my few complaines were adequately met.........The engine sound definately sounds more refined than prior to the service.......

Today I will probably pull the bike beyond 70 for the first time......

can we know what issues u were having with the bike ?
if possible try to achieve 3 digits on speedo.. I did 102 when I was test riding... see if u can achieve it in 4th gear or else 5th.
I mean only if u want... bcos I know as a new bike u would not like to stretch her legs so early, but since the 1st servicing is done I think u may try this out... and see if the engine really remains smooth, vibes free on high rpms...

There is a world of difference in the way the Efi system and the carbs work.In carb'ed bikes the CDI alters the ignition timing and nothing more.A ECU is far more advanced and has host of features which help in better combustion!!
