I have a long list of questions for you. I hope you will not mind answering
    How did the claw perform?
Were you able to carry all the essentials in the bag itself or used some extra baggage? Was 55 lts capacity of the claw enough? What all things did you carry on one bike(R3)?
At any point during the ride was the bag sliding forward?
How did the bike perform? Any issues you faced?
Which route did you take? Manali-Leh-Manali or Srinagar-Leh-Manali?
How much mileage were you able to get?
How much extra fuel did you carry and how(Jerry cans/water bottles)?
Any other suggestions for me or the bike?

Yes! Only the oil pump and clutch issues are applicable for R3.
The Yamaha website link for the recall.

Got a chance to test ride the r3 and god wat a silky smooth bike it is, sounds even lovely in stock form. The thing which surprised me is the ease it handles low rpms and traffic ,and the seating and position ,god... Soo comfortable. Ppl will compare it with rc , but ull never get that refinement and comfort... Obviously KTM has price advantage but ur paying more a extra cylinder and premium feel, I really wished I had this bike choice back in 2014 when I had to pick up a bike...

Yeah... Honestly don't mind trading my bike in, but one thing that caught my eye, the brake calipers are Yamaha made, I didn't see brembo or bybre or nissin... I think Yamaha are avoiding abs because if they add abs, bike would cost close to 4 lakhs n above as high as the ninja....

Because those are two-piston Akebono brake calipers.

If not then those are only color upgrades of the R3s. I heard from one of my friend (source Monarch Yamaha) that they are going to launch ABS R3 around this August. If you dont have any rush you can wait for 2-3 months. You'll have to pay probably 40-50K more for the ABS R3 model.
Well just now I called up Yamaha India CC. According to them there is no change in the 2016 model whatsoever. Not even the colors .

Mate, what they said was true. They have not changed any colors for 2016 in india but else where they have done it.What yamaha is going to do is change the color and add ABS for 2017 models as it becomes mandatory in india.Maybe they will release 2017 model by the 4th quarter of this year.*Diwali*.Finger Crossed.

@Felicity - I said that couple of days ago.

Well on that point - please dont go with the CC people. If you can search through this forum - you will see their ability. They dont even reply properly. Wait for 2-3 months/Diwali - you will get that news surely.

Also i don't get this stubborn attitude from YAMAHA. Why they are playing with one of the huge emerging market like India? ABS should have been offered as an option at least!! Their stubbornness has reflected to the sales figures of the R3 - which is totally insult of such beautiful machine!

Thanks Guys. Unfortunately my existing Pulsar 200 (2007 model) giving a lot of trouble off late . I couldn't wait even if I wanted to. Currently covering ~40 KM up/down to office and back home. Stuck many a times half way,- because of stupid battery, startup issues. Always wanted something rock solid and in the process upgrade to high capacity engine. Guess it's high time.

You will never know untill the official word comes out from Yamaha India on the color updates. It's no guarantee that they will introduce it any soon. But you will get 2016 manufactured R3 now. The 10th digit of chasis number will be 'G'. I was offered 2016 manufactured bike by Vinayak Yamaha Banglore and i verified the same checking the chasis number. So if you want to wait you can wait else you can go for the current model as there is only minor cosmetic difference from the current model in India and 2016 models sold outside. Just the front panel decals are updated. Even if Yamaha introduces ABS model you will have to pay much higher price for that.

                              1. Claw performed very well
                              2. I used Viaterra dslr tank bag aswell. But Sandeep could carry all in claw as he did not carry dslr.
                              3. Yes.
                              4. Thats a very long list. Plz check Rakesh Chauhan's log on Ladakh.
                              5. Nope
                              6.Nope
                              7. Srinagar- leh - manali
                              8.Depends. While climbing khardungla: 18. Highway: 32
                              9. 4/5 ltr on leh - manali highway.
                              10. Be careful on mountain roads. Gravel on even on good tarmac can be dangerous.

                              All the best.

Have anyone got their R3's slight vibrations issue resolved which occurs between 5,000 - 7,000 rpm ?

Also I read that Yamaha Japan are recalling their R3 motorcycles for some clutch and brake issue. Any updates on that ?
