Drag to 1:17 to 1:24 to have a look at the bearing, that's mince meat. Definitely not a good sign that can lock the clutch altogether and lock the wheels.

Interestingly enough, there is a poll that has been conducted either, on the bearing failure probability, here is a snapshot of it.

That is precisely what happened to me! Wheels locked and bearing shattered. The guy also says that mostly his vehicle is parked indoors. So I can conclude:

1. Excessive use of clutch is not causing the issue. It has to be poor quality and craftsmanship from Yamaha.
2. This is certainly not a made in India part! The same part is breaking in bikes exported globally. Poor engineering/fitment? I do not know but this is a problem.

I have sent the complaint to Yamaha. Two days and no reply!

I am looking for help from mods xBhp to put this matter on a larger forum. I think people buying the R3 should know that such a problem exists and more importantly Yamaha should acknowledge the problem and do a recall/fix asap.

Til then, we fight on!

Cheers!
P.S: The engine continues to be the diamond in the coal mine! I do not think there is a better motor in the 300+ cc category!

'out of all the bikes sold' ? that is just A forum with A few members.
just don't assume that everyone with a bike is on the internet documenting their cases
who knows, maybe the initial lots or some 'batch' of bikes might have this issues while others might not.. only Yamaha knows the truth!
they might just silently replace the bearing (with a better one maybe) on affected bikes when they come in for service and not issue an official recall.

Thanks brother!
After one reminder this morning, Yamaha replied asking for the invoice of the bike for them to take any further action on the complaint. I sent it right away.

If u add 65km/hr to that, you can call it as speed

Hi All,
I have a issue while shifting from neutral to 1st gear.(All other gears its fine and smooth)The gearbox seems to be very hard to shift, some times i have to re-engage clutch several times to shift from Neutral to first, I have done 1200 kms on the bike now and done with first service showed it to the showroom tech after adjusting the clutch cable nut he was not able to resolved the issue. He also could not figure out why it was happening and said he will contact Yamaha company tech head and will get back.

This issue was from day one but i though that may be it will get resolved in the first service.
in the meanwhile i also asked him to check on the bearing shattering issue which some users have faced.

Got a reply that there is no bearing issue reported to Yamaha till now!!
Also the tech is going to give some troubleshooting steps to sort my issue.

Mate, is the issue at standstill or while the wheels are moving?

TYga slip on exhaust - looks great

Sir, are you new to 4 strokes? And their gearbox tantrums?
It is a common phenomenon - just rock the bike front and back by a couple of inches and the gear will slot in place.

Latest update on my R3 is changed tyres to michelins pilot street radials ( stock size ) done 1000 kms on these tyres, grip is lot better than MRFs. Odo reading is 4600 kms & no issues till now, will be going for second service next week.

OK I'm confused, are mrf tyres that bad? I thought conti was the worst, since I couldn't afford Michelin I'm on mrf and honestly its totally fine. Cornering, grip not faced any issues on my 250 yet.
