The first tank full will give only about 20kmpl or 200kms. In 10lts.
Thereafter (after 1st service/oil change), the mileage increases to 27-28kmpl in city and up to 32kmpl on highway.
In my last 750kms. Ride, I got about 30kmpl with mixed conditions of 600kms. 4 lane cruising and 150kms. State Roads full of speedbreakers and gear shifts.
    Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Well, it wasnt planned exactly as an upgrade, the CBR still stays , just the need for a twin was very much there, and my brother is the one who will be using the bike. I am looking into N650 by next year end, if all goes well, i'll make the jump to a bigger machine. Lets hope the good time will roll in the right direction

We are not in the dark ages of the 70s and 80s where people booked scooters and got delivery 14 years later. If a company wants us to part with our hard earned money, they have to treat us with basic courtesy and respect at every step of the way.

P.P.P.S - poor dealership experiences seem to be the norm across Bangalore from what I see on this thread and feedback from others.
Truer words cannot be said. I was absolutely convinced, if i could have stretched about 30-40 k for the extra amount I would have left the Yamaha showroom just in a few minutes of the sort of treatment i got while booking(let alone delivery). The budget constrain and the urgent need of a bike was the only thing that forced me to go towards the R3, yes the R3 is a wonderful bike, but when people say choose a good bike or good customer service, i would rather ask , why not both ? And that is what Kawasaki offers. So the decision could't be easier, if you are ready to stretch the budget then go for the N300 eyes closed. At-least you don't have to deal with shitheads.

Well, hoping to get the reg number today, once that is done, a mail goes to Yamaha about my delivery experience with their premium product and "select" showroom.

@krish2278: Is the RTA number plate affixing not mandatory there yet? My bike came without number plates.

The number plate has to be bought separately, the back one, or at-least what the Orion guys told me. And Orion did not even have it in stock. Pathetic to say the least. I'm getting one fixed from Bangalore wheels.

About 20kmpl in the city and 25kmpl on the highway. The mileage readout in the bike is pretty accurate on the R3. Thought it would be gimmicky.
20 kmpl ? seriously ? As TheArcher asked, sedate driving or ripping the bike ?

How does the FE increase by 8 kmpl ? I am confused.

            From 20kmpl to 28kmpl is surprising !!

If I ride sanely without any hard acceleration I should get 24kmpl easily (who has the patience? LOL) but then Bangalore is not Chennai, you are mostly stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. Also I feel since the R3 make power earlier, maybe the mileage takes a hit? Are you checking the bike's computer or tankful to tankful method for the mileage?

Others should be able to shed some light.

I check with the tank full to the E level blinker.

All new vehicles give less mileage and heat more during run-in. After 1st service and oil change, the vehicle's engine would have set, and oil change helps the vehicle to run cooler.

The tank full method is not totally accurate as you can overfill a litre or two if you try. Best is to wait for the bike to hit reserve, fill in an even amount of 5 or 10lts., reset the trip meter and check the number of kms. traveled divided by number of litres filled when it comes to reserve again.
The bike starts a meter with 'F' when it comes to reserve. But it will go away if you park on side stand. So, reset one meter when you see the F meter come up while running. And fill up within a km. or two.
Hope it's not too confusing. Idea is to check kms. traveled with an even amount of fuel from reserve to reserve. ☺

Aaahh. That might not be very accurate as the blinker might come on early or later. Fill the tank to the brim, run say 200kms and fill the tank to the previous level again, this should give you a more accurate read out. My read outs are based on this method.

I have been tracking my fuel ups via fuelly and getting 26kmpl most of the time(sane riding).

But how do you know that you have accurately filled it to the previous level.I mean you could be 500-600 ML or may be more than that more or less!

Well I generally fill it to the cut off point, you can mark it with a pen to remind yourself.

Point is depending on the E blinker is not foolproof. Maybe that is why Sarvajit is "getting" more mileage.

Agree, the Kawasaki experience seems to be better but they still dont have their test ride bike. Earlier they said it had gone for some magazine track testing in Madras and was expected back soon. This week they said it had gone 2 1/2 months ago and it still hasnt come back and they dont know when it will reach. They even claimed people arent picking up their calls so they are unaware of where it is. Who knows what the real truth is! They do have the new 2016 one on display though, looks nice but no way Im putting down my money without proper test rides.

Buddy, the tank full to tank full method is proven to be more accurate than the F to F method. That said, the mileage you are getting is pretty good for real world usage.
