Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Contact Gaurav, i got a paddock from him 2 weeks back. Pretty neat guy to deal with. You wont be disappointed.Originally posted by Archangelonar3 View PostGuys, i need a paddock stand and a radiator guard. Any pointers? Help is appreciated.
Err... Neil, actually just about 2 weeks back, my brother did the test the test ride of the N300 , i'm not sure if it was marthahalli or was it indiranagar kawasaki. But they had the bike which was reportedly been in an accident(told to him by them about even another week prior to the test ride, at which point of time was under repairs), a track low slide it seems. And my brother told the bike was not in good shape or handling condition, he told the fairings and plastics where mounted on with zip ties here and there and the handling was funny.Originally posted by neil.jericho View Posts
Agree, the Kawasaki experience seems to be better but they still dont have their test ride bike. Earlier they said it had gone for some magazine track testing in Madras and was expected back soon. This week they said it had gone 2 1/2 months ago and it still hasnt come back and they dont know when it will reach. They even claimed people arent picking up their calls so they are unaware of where it is. Who knows what the real truth is! They do have the new 2016 one on display though, looks nice but no way Im putting down my money without proper test rides.
So it might be that they don't want to give a damaged bike for test ride and give a negative impression to the customer.
Cheers

Unfortunately I will have to part with the GT if I get another bike so it will be a tough choice in the end.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostSo it adieu to the Yellow GT, or in addition to it?
Thanks for sharing krish2778, can you confirm which the the exact showroom was? Your theory sounds realistic but a little honesty from Kawasaki would not have hurt. I was annoyed at the second visit when they changed their story and said the bike had gone 2.5 months ago. The first time they said it had just gone and was expected in a few days. Either ways, I would be shocked if the Indiranagar showroom genuinely didnt know that there was a test ride bike in the Marthahalli showroom.Originally posted by krish2778 View PostErr... Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Got detailing done finally
Black is a difficult color to maintain. Especially in India with the heat, dust and the touchy crowd. Since this is my first fully faired bike, I did a bit of research and spoke to detailers to get information. After that I opted for a 2 step procedure to enable some scratch and paint protection.
1. 3M Paint Protection Film : 3M makes paint protection films for cars and motorcycles. It is a thin plastic kind of film that will cover the vehicle. This method is used in rally cars to protect the numerous stickers/vinyl etc from the bombardment of small stones from the track. It is a very robust method to protect the vehicle from scratches and works really well. The film will last for couple of years easily. The limitations of doing this for motorcycles is that the film yellows over time. Moreover if the film is not stuck properly, air might creep in creating bubbles and making it evident that a sheet of plastic is covering the bike. This could also compromise on the paint finish with the paint looking dull to the onlooker. Although it can be removed without any paint damage if such thing happens, I preferred not to cover the bike entirely in PPF. Plus I found it pretty expensive to be honest. It costs 530 bucks for a square feet and you will require a lot of it.
I covered the lowest part of the fairing in PPF from both sides. I found that this part is the most prone to scratches from flying stones from the front tyre. The boundary between the sheet covered and uncovered part is not very pronounced and does not compromise on the bike's look. Even with such small area covered, it cost me 1170 bucks. It took them 30 minutes to get it done. People could opt for the rear panels behind the pillion seat also as the riders legs can scratch the area while mounting/un mounting the bike. If opting for ceramic coating later, ensure that you get PPF done before for best results.
2. Ceramic coating from a professional detailer : Second step was to get the bike detailed from a professional detailer along with a double layer ceramic coating. Reflecton in Bangalore was a place where few R3 owners had got this done. Torqueholic from Reflecton is on xbhp and he suggested I speak to Careitcardetailers in Pune to get this done. I spoke to him and he said he will do it. However another R3 owner Rohit suggested we visit Shine inc in Kalyani Nagar as it was convenient for him. Both of us gave our bikes for the detailing. The job required 12 hours for the coating to cure. I kept the bike with them for 24+ hours though as it was impossible for me to collect the bike on the same day. Cost me 3700 bucks.
They said the ceramic coating lasts for 2 years. It is scratch-resistant(not scratch proof like PPF). Moreover it is hydrophobic(repels water) so water does not leave marks on the bike. Dust is wiped off easily with a micro fiber cloth and the bike looks better than new. The bike looks ravishing with the coat and the amount of attention I got on the street was more than when I had taken it out of the showroom
A Pic : Note that you can hardly figure out till where the PPF is. Nice job by 3M camp, Pune!
P.S : This is the first detailing job I ever got done in my life. In fact I am a complete noob with respect to detailing. Please correct me if I am wrong in any of the above info.Last edited by Deathmate.Zed; 12-17-2015, 01:32 PM.The way you ride is the way you are..

Updated my post. Cost me 3700 bucks. I hope it lasts as long as they claim. Even 1.5 years is good enough IMO.Originally posted by yellowspunk View PostHey man,

Here in Hyderabad the 3M shop absolutely refuses to apply the PPF on bikes. I had visited them a couple of days ago. Any leads on how to get this done at a 3M shop?Originally posted by Deathmate.Zed View PostUpdated my post. Cost me 3700 bucks. I hope it lasts as long as they claim. Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Out of curiosity, reached the Sales manager for 3M for AP and TS. His comments were:
1. They will never ever work on a bike at a 3M Car care store!!
2. The PPF is not suitable for the paint on a bike - fuel falling on it will damage it/might get peeled off/peeling it off for any reason will be a pain and 100% success is not guaranteed.
3. However PPF is freely available at car dealers and you are free to use it at your own risk!
And finally a bit news is that 3M plans to open '3M Bike Care' stores across India in the early months of next year. There is no better therapy than riding a bike down a straight road at full throttle with the sound of the engine for company.

3M is indeed expensive. In Chennai they are asking 530 per sq feet.
Anyway, most of the 3M dealers are reluctant to do this job. Are you sure its not going to do any harm to the paint ? I am planning to get it done this month end.

I think you forgot that I know a 3M dealer who is ready to do this for me.Originally posted by TheArcher84 View PostWhere in Chennai we can do these PPF and Ceramic Coating ?? Not sure if all 3Ms does for bike or is there any certain 3M outlet which will do for bikes also

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
OT : i have used PPF on my all bikes , well i got it from car decor shop, which was closing its business , and i got complete roll [enough to cover entire car] for as low as Rs800/- and at the begining i struggled to apply, later i knew the trick and was easy [did trial/error as i had lot of PPF]
its good to have PPF , but every year one need to change it , not because of its effectiveness but coz of its transparent color change to slightly yellow [not noticeable easily], but its easy to peel off and there is even no mark/glue on surface
