Even if Yamaha introduces ABS model you will have to pay much higher price for that.
I shall gladly pay that extra 30-40k for that ABS. With the ABS it will be unbeatable bike in the entry level sport bike (250-400 CC).

You will never know untill the official word comes out from Yamaha India on the color updates. It's no guarantee that they will introduce it any soon. But you will get 2016 manufactured R3 now. The 10th digit of chasis number will be 'G'. I was offered 2016 manufactured bike by Vinayak Yamaha Banglore and i verified the same checking the chasis number. So if you want to wait you can wait else you can go for the current model as there is only minor cosmetic difference from the current model in India and 2016 models sold outside. Just the front panel decals are updated. Even if Yamaha introduces ABS model you will have to pay much higher price for that.
Thank you so much for the info Akash. Yep, even I would be getting the 2016 model from Perfect Yamaha by coming Tue/Wed. ABS is no doubt a good addition, but for the people like me who used to drive a 200cc for last 8 yrs without it, can at least know how to use both the brakes responsibly.

How sure are you about the 10th digit to be G. The reason why I ask this is my vehicle chassis number has 10th digit as "F" but in the RC book, the manufactured date shows as April 2016.

RC book prints whatever is given to RTO by the accounts division of that Yamaha sales where you bought your bike.
F denotes 2015 and G denotes 2016. Yamaha has been following this since ages, including their CBU's.

Yes, as Ivin said the VIN comes from the manufacturer(Yamaha in this case). It will be imprinted on the chassis when the vehicle is manufactured. Each manufacture follows a standard VIN format. You can find VIN decoders for different manufacturers online. The one on your RC is just what your dealer informs the RTO.

As far as I know, some of the dealers do this intentionally. They sell 2015 models and quote 2016 in the RC.

So in reality it is an year old model but for all practical purposes/ paperwork - it becomes the current one ?
Can't someone object to the disparity ?
                Take some legal course ?

                just want to know.

                cheers.

To be honest, for them it's not illegal. For us, yes totally a screwed up thing. The only thing we can do is check for the chassis number while doing the PDI or before handing over the money. Can't do much about the RC because it's something they do it internally for the registration and stuff.

Well,it will be mandatory to release every motorcycles in india with ABS in 2017.So there is 100℅ chances of R3 coming with ABS in next year but it will cost a whooping 40K to 50K more.

                          Soo r3 would be 4.2,4.3, n ninja 300 at 4.5,4.6

R3 is not coming with ABS anytime soon. 2017 april deadline is for new vehicles launched from the said month. All other existing products will be updated by april 2018 only.
I dont see R3 getting ABS till 2018.

Ninja 300r on road price was 4.55lacs in kerala even before when I bought R3. R3 was 4.07 lacs. Don't know the price now for both though. When abs becomes mandatory ninja's cost would be 5 lacs plus here.
For people like me it will be unreachable to get these bikes who had to stretch the budget for a great extent.

Keralas stupid tax structure is to blame. Its 4.2x and 3.85 for the respective motorcycles in Karnataka and even with ABS, it wont cost as much as it would in Kerala .
Tax on tax. They think that whoever shells out more for motorcycles in filthy rich and can pay extra tax. RIP commonsense.
