Guys I'm in search for a tank bag that might be able to fit on my R3 and D125.
I want to also ask if we can put a 14" laptop inside the tank bag?Hero Honda Splendor (June 2001- Present)

You can try RYNOX bags, they have suction cups for plastic tanks. The R3 and Duke both having plastic outer covers, suction cups help them stay in place. Plus they also double as tail bags with straps provided. You have RYNOX, Dirtsack, and so many mushroom brands out there for gears these days. My personal preference and suggestion would be RYNOX.Originally posted by Gollum View PostGuys I'm in search for a tank bag that might be able to fit on my R3 and D125.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Yup, just talked to Jagadish(service manager) today. Cyril has left and Santosh is in-charge to service the R3's now. I am looking to book an R3 too, can you & members of the forum tell me about few things. Graduating from the RC390 (MY2017, sold yesterday), i have following needs from my next ride
1. Comfort - heat management & seating & posture
2. Reliability - mechanical & electrical
3. service - good one in & around Mumbai or Thane
4. Are you getting any discounts? I haven't even been given a single rupee or even a test ride, they don't even have a display bike
My Biking History-
bike no.1 - YZF R15 V2 (3.5 years, 45k kms) never gave me any trouble, only general service all life
bike no.2 - KTM RC 390 (MY2017) - (2.5 years, 15k kms) numb private parts, highly unreliable electronics, spent all weekends of past 6 months at SVC fixing electronics (can bus error, ecu failure, abs failure, software flashes xN, special 2018 version software flash x2, sensors changed x3 times, abs ring changed x1 times, new battery, wiring harness coupler changes, speedometer change, termination unit change, zero speed error, random jerk at any rpm, Harsh & demeaning behaviour of ASM Mumbai)
got tired of it and sold it yesterday.
Now I am contemplating to buy the R3, as I want the Yamaha reliability & quality, I want my peace & life back. I have also had advice from B7ACKTHORN regarding the concerns and thank him for speaking to me personally. I would also like the owners/forum members here to tell me about points mentioned above as compared to RC 390, and seating considering that most of my driving is sedate & city limits, or maximum it will be touring.
Also, from the owners of ABS R3 model, hows is it holding up.
PS: the new R3 (digital console, LED lights, inverted forks..) seems aggressive & these components will be very pocket heavy should they fail. Thus, my focus being on the current gen R3, also my personal choice for styling is the one that is on sale currently.
Warm Regards

I know people who use R3 for daily commute and those who use it for touring.Originally posted by ride2live View PostHi,

I believe R3 is a great bike for long distance riding. The relaxed seating posture will only ever cause neck pain if you have a heavy helmet.
In the city, the heat from the radiator fan is properly pushed onto your legs. If you are feeling cold you can rely on this fan to keep you warm. But in the summer, you would absolutely want to avoid it. Having said that, it's only heat. This does not hamper R3's performance at all.
I feel that R3 is a highway machine. Most users get about 25kmpl on highway and with a 14Lt fuel tank you should be good for any ride.
Coming to comfort, the seat on R3 is very soft. It's not hard and does not require an air cushion like ride on air.
However the same can't be said for the rear seat.Hero Honda Splendor (June 2001- Present)

So heating is there, I lived with RC 390 level heating, I felt it justified for the performance, is R3’s lower than it or more?
What are your views about the extended warranty, I read here that they aren’t offering on high performance bike’s (I will say that they were old posts), but the website currently has it. Dealers are clueless and don’t even know the price
Also, to members and brothers from Mumbai Thane & Navi Mumbai, which one is a good dealer? For sales & service
Thanks in advance

Let me first give you a context of my usage, that should give you a better understanding of my views on above points.
I own the 2018 R3 (bought it in July last year) , that comes with ABS and Metzelers. I use the bike both for my daily commute (~50kms), in Delhi-NCR (where the temperature is already 40 degrees), and my weekend rides.
I hope my reply helps.
1. Comfort - It's a really comfortable bike. Riding posture is not tiring at all even in B2B traffic and it's sportier enough to have fun in the corners. You may need to adjust the rear pre-load to suit your liking.
2. Reliability - Till now, no issues at all. It's running absolutely butter smooth.
3. Service - The service cost is comparable to R15 (I owned a V2 before R3, so I am comparing with that) and service experience has been great till now. Can't comment about the Mumbai or Thane region, but I hope the service experience would be same.
4. Heating - It's a twin cylinder bike, so there's bound to be some heat. But, rest assured it's far less than the competition. I ride in heavy traffic in Delhi and till now the temperature gauge has never reached 4 bars.
So, if you do go ahead and buy this beauty, you're not going to regret it.

Thank you for the reply, I was already sold with the guidance from B7ACKTHORN and your reply makes me even more comfortable taking it forward
Just one more thing, did you buy the extended warranty for the bike?

There was no extended warranty on offer for R3 when I bought.
Although, I would recommend you to double check with the dealer as most of the sales rep confuse R3 for R15V3. As far as I am aware, there's no extended warranty on offer for R3.

I was referring to this, and when I spoke about this to the dealer, he mentioned that if it’s there on the website then it can be given

But as you rightly said will double check this while placing order

I got the ABS version in Nov 18 and clocked 9K kms so far.
1. Comfort - minimal heat, my heat bar has never gone above 3 bars out of 6 ever. I commute everyday and tour regularly(50:50). I have always had naked bikes for sheer comfort. This is my first fully faired bike. Comfort was a concern but I was blown away by how comfy this bike is. Riding posture is great. There is some space also to move back and forward on the seat. No pain in arms, shoulders or back. Light clutch. I commute 34-35 kms daily and have done a max of 1200 kms in 2 days while touring.
2. Reliability - the electricals have never flinched. flawless engine.
4. Are you getting any discounts? - didn't get any discounts, not even a test ride.
I once rode RC390. It was no uncomfortable that I had to abandon the test ride in 100mts
ABS is must. There's nothing much to say. I personally like the 2018 R3 and it's paint scheme out of all the years. Not a big fan of the 2019 R3. I guess I'm biased.

My dealer gave me this "Extended Warranty" without asking me while my bike was delivered in 2016.Originally posted by ride2live View PostThanks for the heads up.
