So, I tried to get a test ride, and got one at Perfect Riders-Lalbagh.
was hardly a 100m ride in a small dead end (near their service center basically).

Was not enough for me to gauge the bike except that the handlebar squeezes my hand against the tank if I try to turn it in a small lane.
Looking to rent a bike for the weekend to get a better handle!

Hand touching the tank problem will be there. Had it in my bike and my friends machine as well. It touches on the Right side handle bar.
As for renting a bike, they might or might not give you the actual feel as most of the rental services do not take good care of their bikes.
I had rented one few years back (post initial launch) however at that point of time, the bike has only run 5.5k kms. They didnt even change the oil which I realised later that day when OIL started blinking. The rental guy asked me to get the oil replaced and he adjusted the amount from the rent.

While true, the reason I want a rental is more about seat height, traffic navigability and importantly, riding posture.
Further, will have to see how the pillion comfort is. For these reasons, i feel a longer TR is mandatory, especially if you are investing 4.5l!

+1 For Pacer Yamaha Hebbal and Bangalore Wheels Dr.Rajkumar Road Rajajinagar for both sales and service aspects.
Would suggest you to call up either of them and tell them that you'd need a longer test ride to make up your mind for spending 4.5L with them.

Suggest you to pick Pacer Yamaha as it's closer to Airport road flyover and ORR where you can open up the bike a bit and test it out, if you pick Bangalore Wheels you'll be stuck with bumper to bumper gully traffic where in you test of city ridability.

You can do anything by paying extra cost, but you have to ask yourself, is it really worth the money spent, which usually is not. First off, the parts required, the mechanic has to be competent enough to know what he's doing, and then comes to the installation part, then comes the "will it work now" part. In short, if you require an ABS equipped one, sell the current one and get the ABS equipped one, that's easier and less cumbersome than the trouble at hand. My two cents worth.

                Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                THE END

Thanks for the reply. yes the cost will be high. I had the same thing in my mind. But still wanted to get some opinion. Btw I don't have r3 yet. I thought of buying old non abs model and converting it to ABS.

Yes possible. One person from Pune has done it at a cost of around 40K.

Though, my take in this case, would be to sell non-ABS bike and buy the ABS one. ABS is a safety feature and I will not risk it getting retrofitted. But that's me and my very cautious self.

                    • R3OG KA Monsoon G2G 2019 ; Megur, Malnad, KA

Hi guys, a small update from my side.

We, as R3OG KA chapter, rode out on the first weekend of July (5th-7th) as a part of Monsoon G2G. 23 of us turned up for the ride to make it worthwhile

To make it more interesting, the location we chose for the ride was Malnad, where the real essence of rains and monsoons are felt. For all those who don't know, Malnad is the short of MaleNadu (in Kannada) which basically means "Rain Land". Incidentally, this region is also one of the wettest regions in the world and boy, did we have rains!!!

To provide an icing on the cake, the region was covered with dense fog in most of the places. With the vast flora and fauna, we made sure we got a good detox away from mundane city life.

Here are a few pics for you guys to enjoy.

By the time i reached home, the trip meter showed completion of close to 850 kms and 3 days of one bliss of a ride

Anyway, the R3's performed exceptionally well on the highways, ghats, off-roads, watered roads. Nobody had any issues with any of the bikes in the whole of 850 odd kms of the ride.

That's all from my side, for now

Our first stop was at Shettihalli church at Hassan. As soon as we arranged the bikes, it started to drizzle. Rain gears came out instantaneously

Sold Daytona 675 last month as I couldn't use it daily due to agressive riding posture and Finally bought a pre-owned R3 ABS, 2018 Nov model for daily riding in City. It was driven only for 2.5k in 8 months.Bike was in good condition.

After riding for few kms, I can observer few things, the breaks are spongy, definitely need to change to steel braided lines.
Also, I felt the engine is little rough, might be due to Yamaha lube oil. Need to change it to Motul later as I have heard yamaha lube is not good

Congratulations on your buy! Welcome to the family

Steel braided lines will very well enhance the bite and the feel. Go for it.
Yes, the engine roughness is because of the oil. Get it changed to Motul 7100 and you'll see the difference. Majority of the guys in Bengaluru have stopped using Yamalube LOL.

Thanks, I am planning to go for spiegler brake lines. I have heard good reviews about it for R3. Is it available in india or do I need to source it from USA through their website ?. Btw is there any watsapp group for R3 owners in bangalore? I am interested to join

Spiegler lines are not available in India. You have to source them from the States.
But there are other alternatives like Galfer, HEL, CORE lines available in India. You can check them out.
A few guys are using them and are satisfied with the brake bite and feel.

And yes, there is a WhatsApp group of R3 owners. PM me, i'll get you added there
