Ride as you would normally, rev match, blip, whatever you have to. Take it to tripe digits speeds occasionally. Basically, make sure your engine gets a dose of all RPMs and all speeds. Make sure you don't redline, that's the only thing you need to worry about. Rest ride as you normally you would, nothing to worry.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

Thank you sir! The on road price is 4.4L. Since I had purchased a R15S back on 2016, the dealer offered a 'loyalty discount' choice between 3k and a helmet. So, for me the on road price was toned down to 4.37L 🤓. Happy riding!

Hi guys,

I recently changed the tyres. Same specs to Pirellis. Did balancing/alignment. Now the bike is swaying. Turning/leaning doesn't feel confidence inspiring. What could be the issue?? Wheels not installed properly by the mechanic?? Bike was straight as an arrow. When I leave my hands off the handle bar, bike doesn't stay straight. It used to.

Any inputs on this issue?

Regards!

Check the tire pressure. Usually the tire fitment guys overinflate the tyre while installing. Also the check the tyres for flat spots and shape. What is manufacturing week of the new tyre?

Thanks for the reply!

Yea... The tire pressure was not correct. I rectified it. Rear was at 41. Front was also way off. After this the sway reduced quite a lot. But it's still there.

Both tyres are xx19. I can't recall the exact week now. I checked this while buying. Shaped seemed ok when I purchased it. Maybe I should remove the wheels and re-install?

Tyres are setting in. Same happened when I got my Michelin Pilot Street radials too.
It should settle down in about 500 kms.

Ok, thanks for your reply Sarvajit. I've done about 50 kms on new tyres. Let me break them in and see if the sway goes away fully.

I hope there was no damage in coneset. Do give it a thought and check for the same if required.
As suggested by others let the tyre break-in.

Pirellis have more rounder profile than other tyres in same segment and gives an impression of ready to corner.
So newer tyres and that too Pirellis will give that impression.

Has anyone tried using Speed or Shell V-Power on their R3's? any difference in performance, vibrations?
Would love to know your thoughts on this. I am planning to try Shell V-Power.

Thanks.

Thanks Saquib. The installation was done right infront of me and I don't think any damage was done. I will keep this in mind. If the sway doesn't go away fully I will get this checked.

You are so correct on this. The rounder profile makes the bike eager to lean in even with slight weight distribution. On Metz I could take both hands off and bike will keep straight. Getting used to the Rossos. Grip is phenomenal though.

Hi K17. For me the Shell V Power does wonders for smoothness only when I use it with Motul 7100 20w50. The same fuel does nothing when I use Yamalube 10w40. So it's a combination of right oil for your region/riding style etc etc + the right fuel. I'm in Chennai. I commute in dense traffic not even able to shift to 3 rd gear for minutes. On highways I do 600-700 kms a day.

This oil + fuel combination is best for me and my riding style and riding conditions. The bike feels significantly smoother and revs more freely. Haven't seen any improved difference in mileage or heat control.

Once I used Speed 97 for 100 Rs a litre for one tank full. It was even more free revving and smoother than V Power. Too expensive and not really needed. V Power works just fine.

Cheers!

As promised, writing my one year ownership experience, it would be honest so some could like it & some would not agree.

Completed approx 15,000 kms and experience is mixed, first would like to list all positives of this bike.

Positive:

1. Engine, its a gem. Good low end torque you can ride all day 110-120kmph comfortably. Surprisingly, good to ride in traffic too, I use R3 everyday, it never disappoints.

2. Braking, its precised at least for me, I didn't feel any need to upgrade it to aftermarket pads or brake lines.

3. Seating posture is another positive, seats are comfy too. I have done 720 kms in single day which includes 4 lane highway to state highway.

4. Headlights are bright, throw is good and helpful at night.

5. Most important part service, maintenance cost is low for a CKD bike. Comes with three free service, have done three service total and never spend anything more than Rs. 1500/-. Spare parts price is cheap too. I will be sharing some parts cost at last.

6. Quality of most of the parts are good.

7. Exhaust note is good especially on higher rpms, it has a bassy note.

8. Bike is quite flickable in the traffic too.

Negative:

1. FIrst and foremost tyres, stock tyre were not at all satisfactory, I changed at around 2000 kms to michelin pilot street radials.

2. Service quality, quality of service is a thing which I am not impressed, svc which does a good service is good 120 kms from my place. At 10k service i gave my bike for oil change at raipur svc but mechanic broke oil chamber which he tried to cover it up with m-seal. Yamaha service manager didn't helped and at last showroom owner borned all the costs.

3. Vibes used to creep up above 7000 rpm but it has vanished after using Motul 7100/Shell Advance ultra.

4. Yamalube FS oil is not good, becomes rough at 2500 kms.

5. ABS should have come as an option.

6. Air filter gets useless after 3k kms whereas yamaha has scheduled to change it every 10k kms.

Parts Changed

I crashed once because a splendor rider came into my lane out of nowhere and had to change following parts:

1. LHS Fairing

2. Side Stand

3. Gear Lever.

4, Headlight Cowl (Black Part) - replaced after some months had some scratches.

5. LHS Tail cover.

Spare Parts Cost

Although we have shared this list with fellow R3 owners in our whatsapp group and we update it regularly but still posting here:

Bro!! I can't believe this happened with me too!
I found a pool of oil under my bike a few hours after I got home from service .
I initially thought it was a loose bolt or filter or something, but then I checked the oil was leaking from the joint above the bolt!

Dealer says they have ordered the replacement parts, and my bike is grounded since 2 weeks now and still no update.

Can you send me the details of parts that were replaced in your case? I hope all is well now.
