  • Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences

I bought a Michelin radial tyre for front, but I did not notice that the rear one is Michelin pilot sporty Bias ply tyre.

So now, can I run with a radial in the front and bias in the rear? The rear one is almost brand new, so I do not want to change that.

    I made my life complicated

      Another Recall

      - 28,000 units recalled in total.- Issues concerning the gear shifter and radiator pipe.- Model year 2015 to 2018 has been affected. Yamaha has announced a global recall for its small-capacity sportbike, the YZF-R3. The recall addresses issues with the bike’s gear shifter assembly and a faulty cooling system. The return spring on the shifter is subject to breakage making it difficult to shift gears. Meanwhile, the upper radiator hose which wasn’t properly vulcanised by Yamaha is likely to crack and leak fluid. A total of 28,000 bikes have been affected in this recall. While 11,240 bikes from MY2015-2016 have been recalled for the gear shifter issue, the radiator hose problem affects 16,760 units from MY2015-2018. The manufacturer will notify owners and replace the faulty components with new ones are no extra cost. Since this recall also affects bikes sold in India, we recommend visiting the nearest dealership to check for these issues at the earliest.
The 2015-2018 model of the YZF-R3 has been recalled globally for issues with its gear shifter and cooling system.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

They also rectified the minor repairs and bike wash with polish for free of cost.

They clicked a photo while handing the oil to me.

My experience with Sri Motors Ekkatutangal (Near Kasi theatre) Chennai:

I gave my bike for recall and minor repair at Sri Motor, Chennai. I met Mr. Thiayagarajan who is dealing with R3 bikes, and explained the following problems in my bike:

          1. Front brake air lock release
          2. Bike swaying to left
          3. Rear brake pad change
          4. Handgrip change
          5. Coolant top up

They asked me to take my bike next day, but I did not feel comfortable leaving my bike overnight at service centre after the recent incident where the dealer destroyed an R3. I requested the bike on the same day, but they said its not possible.

So, I asked them not to replace rear brake pad and handgrip but the rest and they promised to deliver at 7.30 pm (I gave my bike at 9.40 am). I went there at 7.30 pm, after waiting for almost 20 mins, I got to see my bike neatly washed. I went for test ride, and all the problems addressed were resolved.

Overall, the job done by the Sri motor is satisfactory and the mechanic Mr. Thiyagarajan is very sincere and polite. I tried to tip him, which he refused to take a penny - this impressed me more.

Henceforth, I will give for bike service at Sri Motors.

          Cheers

          Dear Xbhpian,

I want to replace my front tyre, which brand shall I go and how much it cost? I use the bike only for touring and weekend rides.
I just changed over to metzeller sportec street medium soft compounds, these are in direct comparison to Michelin pilot street, better in grip and similar mileage, coasted 8.5k in total, worth the spend, cause for a fully faired bike grip is very important.

Hi there folks, anyone has any clue about the 2019 Yamaha R3? Since Yamaha is all out with launches of ABS models and MT15 is nearing launch, can we expect R3 to launch in near future?

Already the new R3 launched last year comes with ABS.

Yamaha India is too busy converting their existing line ups to abs. So, I don't expect them the launch the 2019 R3 any sooner. But lets see.

Since the new model is already manufactured in the Indonesia Yamaha Plant. I think it should be sooner. But its Yamaha India (*sigh*), people there have no clue regarding the new model itself.

I agree. But they also surprised us with the launch of new R15 last year.

It is already the costliest middleweight bike in the country if we can forget the height of pricing absurdity - Ninja 400.
3,49,500 ex-showroom is not a small amount. The onroad price breaches 4 and it is definitely not an attractive package at that price point. The WANT factor for Yamaha is not as crazy as say Kawasaki or KTM 390 twins or even the Apache RR 310. The sales numbers are going down each month with 10 dispatches in Dec for R3. Z900 dispatched 70+ units in Dec and N300 did 220.
                              Regards,

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

Hopefully Yamaha sees this trend and decides to localise R3 parts in India. This will keep them in competition. Else god bless them.
