OMG !! That's crazy thing to do and specially from showroom people who should know better. How long it was done or was it just a momentarily thing? After starting the bike for the first time, did it idle for sometime before the showroom people revved it or they just did it right after the start?

May it was idling for 30sec or so, but he reved it to check for sounds from the engine, so that was convincing to me. And once again to show me the shift lights at 11k ( changed it to 7k later). And the third time , i had a short spin after which my dad asked the showroom guy to take a test ride and he ripped out the throttle for about 2 kms.
This would be the saddest delivery ever happened.

One of the main reasons I decided on R3 was the exact point you mention --> maintenance cost of 1.3 Rs/Km. Purchase cost is high at 4L but I think for a CKD sportsbike, running and maintenance costs are very reasonable.

Regarding insurance-
So there are 3 components to the insurance.
Own damage cover - 1 year cover - 6K
Personal accident cover for owner driver - 1 year cover - 750
Basic 3rd party liability - 5 years cover - 6K
Other tax.
According to the new rules by Supreme Court, 3rd party liability of 5 years need to be paid upfront. This is making the insurance for new vehicles go a bit high.

Cheers!
Regarding the insurance, dhawz29, how much insurance did you pay for R3?

You're correct. This would be the saddest delivery to have happened.

First of all, to check for sounds from the engine, why revving is convincing to you? At higher revs, you'll hear the exhaust more than the engine.

Second, the default setting for shift lights are at 7K, Yamaha India sets it that way. So if it's at 11K then it might have been changed later and not from factory.

Third, why did you give your new bike to the showroom guy at all? Anyways, hope everything is good and no permanent damage to the engine has happened due to this non sense.

Which showroom and which city you took the delivery from?
Yamaha YZF R15 V 2.0 (Oct, 2012 - Present)
Yamaha YZF R3 (Sep, 2015 - Present)

My Review of Yamaha R3 at 100K ODO

A friend of mine got an R15 v2 from the same showroom. He also said that while taking delivery the salesperson revved the nuts out of the engine. So is it a common procedure eh?

Another fun thing is that the salesperson said that R15 has an high speed engine and there is no need for running in[emoji23]

Please ask them to give this in writing and sign on the dealership's letterhead. Would be of immense help should you need repairs otherwise not covered in warranty.
This isn't just limited to R15/R3; but all vehicles.

Hey guys,

Seriously interested in getting this bike cash down! But have an issue kind of. My current bike being P220, it can easily hold a side box (dikki) and hence can house my laptop as I am a consultant and have to visit different companies that don't allow each other's equipments inside premises. That alone dumb crap of a reason is going to be a deal breaker for me.

Hence need to now, if side panniers/boxes of normal studds (Fancy types, suiting the posture of the bike) can be installed or not? Looking forward to your replies. Hopefully, positive ones

Thanks

Year ago, i went to buy r15s from SS YAMAHA since they are the main dealer in trichy city(TN). While getting the quatation of the bike, i asked the exact breakdown details of insurance and RTO and other charges they are adding with Ex-showroom price, they refused to give the details and salesman was quiet frustuated that i dare to ask them the details. Went ahead with KAVI YAMAHA in trichy, they are also not the best out there but altealst they are nice with the customers.

What the fluck, how can they be mad if a customer simply asked for price breakup. The meaning is clear, they're overcharging for one thing or the other.

A pic would be available only on weekends as I usually forget to take the pic while in office or at home on weekdays due to super busy schedule. But this is the sidebox I am talking about.
