Normal petrol, normal engine oil and a linear throttle action is all that is needed. There's no limit to the speeds one can do during run in phase or otherwise.
Just that the throttle input should be linear and not abrupt. Keep varying revs throughout and enjoy.

Wear a good lid, ride safe.
    Congrats in advance!

I am too in planning phase of buying R3 and engine breaking is also a important point.
There are many different views online, and this discussion has been on for like decades. There is no single person who can claim that the break-in went wrong, unless they did something very very stupid. Even if you are driving hard, accelerate smooth and linear. The ideal place to break-in wold be a twisty mountain road. I would not recommend cruising at any speed during the break-in. No harm in changing first and second oil a little early. Also, R3 is not a normal bike. The engine on this bike is meant for long term. Expect it to last for at least 8 to 10 years if you follow the service manual.

        Hi Guys,

I recently upgraded to r3 a month ago and the odo is close to 2k kms now. I kind of feel like the feedback from the brakes are not enough and the brakes don't seem so sharp.
Is this common on 2018 R3 or something which I need to take a look at it?
        Thanks in advance.

I feel the same... I am planning to research and install some premium break pads, once the stock ones wear off.

The rear brakes do have feedback it's the front that are mediocre. The front brakes do have a wooden feel to them and lack the progressive bite, whereas the rear is sharp and locks easily. Does it slow the bike, yes, but does it have the progressive feel and feedback, unfortunately it doesn't, at least my experience has been a bit awkward with the brakes.

Better brake pads can transform the brakes, such as Double Sintered such as these

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

              THE END

Guys, I am in touch with the dealers in Pune trying to close the purchase by November.
However, got a news from the dealer that due to strike in Yamaha's Chennai plant, the production of R3 has been stopped.
The dealer told me that there will be 2 months delay in delivery.

I wouldn't be buying the bike now as labour issues = quality issues. Best to wait.

                    You are absolutely right!

Just hope that the strike ends soon and a few deliveries happen without the discontinuation of the model!

Guys, going by the details provided by user "quickfox11" on the thread here, seems R3 owners from Pune were invited for feedback session.
Did anybody from here attended that?

I was called too at Bangalore. It was mainly about ABS, braking and tyre performance.

This was not the case with 2015 and 2016 R3s. Front is amazingly good and don't feel any requirement of ABS until now.
Adding on to it the longevity of brake life(both front and rear).

Regarding sintered ones, many have used and they didn't find much difference with it.
But having a steelbraided lines are anyday beneficial for R3. Ridden some non abs R3s having steel braided lines and feedback has been very good.

Yamaha India could have tried using same brake pads for front also which was there in first version of R3.

Updates here. No changes in engine. Top speed of +8kmph due to aerodynamics alone , per the Yamaha person. 37mm USD forks, Full digital meter and full LED headlights are new.

Adding pics of R25 for Indonesia as well, R3 does not get the red color, but the other 2 are available. Kudos to Yamaha for launching it for Indonesia even in their toughest of times due to the recent natural calamities
