Once BS-VI launched in 2019 BS-IV vehicles will likely to be banned by 2020. This might be the reason.

Not true. Yamaha has never provided extended warranty i.e. when it was launched in India in 2015. Extended warranty is available for other locally manufactured Yamaha bikes.

Can you please share the source for this info.
Wonder how Bajaj gives extended warranty on its bs4 dominar though.

          Om maintenance aspects:

          1. Clean the chain & sprockets and lube it regularly. Wipe the chain cleaner before proceeding with lube.
          2. Check oil level and coolant level, tyre pressure periodically.
          3. Check the chain slack and clutch freeplay
          4. Avoid washing the bike often. Using moist cloth will work most of the time. Always remove the dust/sand particles on paint surfaces carefully before proceeding with water/moist cloth cleaning.
          6. If you do water wash from outside, make sure they don't pressure wash the radiator fins. They could be damaged easily, SVC use safe pressure for fins which most outside water service station dont do. For manually cleaning the fins always use paint brush and never use toothbrush.
          5. I used to check tyre for any damage weekly, especially before taking it for a weekend ride.

I consider these points to be essential checkup and you can always extend further if you know the technicals.

            [QUOTE=rushikesh.ware;1348659]Hi K17,

            Firstly Congratulations!
This is one of the closest and beautiful picture of the 2018 R3.
The picture makes you go weak on your knees.

Have you done any mods or added any accessories yet?
I see white strips on the RIM. Have you explicitly added them?

            ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
            Thank you.

Well, I got the rim stripes added and got them imported because you won't get these here (Has the YZF-R3 logo on it). Word of advice, add rim stripes after the rainy season . I got the radiator guard imported from UK - Evotech Performance and the quality is perfect, fits like a glove.

Removed the saree guard and added a shift sock. I have lots of mods in mind, will add them eventually

Thanks again. I got the grab rails fitted today at the 24K service. They look and seem to do the job (support in parking) just fine, but opening and refitting the rear seat is a major issue now.
I need to punch the rear seat while turning the key. It does not turn and unlock normally.
Same for locking. Need to punch.
Was it the same for you too?

Yes it's difficult to open and close the seat. There is a certain knack to it and you will get it right after several tries. I try to align it correctly and if it does align, then I'll press the middle portion of the seat firmly to hear a click sound.

I hope it loosens up. Punching to fix it back is still fine, but punching to open seems real funny!

                        So guys,

                        the wait has finally ended,

Installed the full system exhaust on the Yamaha r3 (probably only just a few bikers in India have done it till now),
                        with non-documented results.

My uncle went to china, got this bundle under a very special request,
consisted of header pipes, mid pipe, and tail pipe. (with some springs to join everything)
Didn't ask him to source muffler too, as I had plans of sourcing it locally.

I didn't want to fiddle with the fairing, (YouTube shows that right side fairing removal is required, which is not the case)
I know for a fact that fairing removal is not required (after spending countless hours on r3 forums worldwide, even in other languages) (call me stupid)

Sourced a local mechanic, since i was low on allen keys etc,
removal of the stock system was a 20 minutes affair,

installing was a little tough, but we managed to did it in 45 mins.

the roar that it gave, along with a little flame was mind numbing,
the whole character of the bike changed,

took a short ride, and parked it safe in home compound waiting for the 1st copy SC project exhaust to tone down the loudness & a bit of flames as well.

when i say flames, don't be afraid, its just a poor mixture of oxygen & fuel that's causing this once in a while,
will subsidize when enough time is given, since ECU is self learning.

                        no expensive re-tune is required.

You can however use blocker plates to reduce the backfires it gives sometimes,

The total system costed me below 15k, which is more than 3 times cheaper than full system exhausts available online.

I can help you source the parts & other technical bits, if you want to do the process.

The bike is a beast now, from a timid rat (sound wise)

I am using the Progrip universal tank pad, bought from local bike accessories store for Rs. 250. Due to the lines on the tank, it doesn't fit perfectly, but does the job well.
Here is the product link for your reference: Link

If you are not worried about the cost, below are other options, though personally I haven't used these.

Grab rails is one thing you can add to the bike since you will have pillion sometimes. You'll get links for the same in previous pages to order from AliExpress..

We have a WhatsApp group each for Karnataka and pan India R3 owners. PM me in case you want to get added.
