I haven't seen pics of any R3 with 2016 color scheme/decals. Is it not yet launched in India? How do we know if it is actually 2016 model?

The left one lights up in low beam IIRC.
Even if you're on low beam and taking a right on dark unlit roads, you may momentarily use the pass light switch to light up the road ahead. Or simply use the high beam if there's no oncoming traffic.
Yeah both lights do light up in high beam but i want the left one to light up in high beam too instead of it still pointing down like in low beam, if im still not clear then ill post some pictures illustrating what i mean tomorrow

I understood what you were trying to say. But,when you put the headlights to highbeam the Left side of the headlight will also go to highbeam from low beam.As for the Right side headlight,it is only for highbeam. So in short! LH side will convert from Low to High beam once you switch to highbeam and RH side is constant High beam.Hope you understood.

2015 model is the one which we see here in all the posts
2016 model will have a U shaped white stickering around the Visor with slightly different blue stripes in the fairing.
2017 Model is mostly bluish with little silver

This is applicable only for international market. For India yamaha continues with 2015 visual setup.
          IMO, 2015 looks the best.

            I'm not sure here but I think R3 uses H7 bulbs. There's no hi/lo with H7 bulbs. It's a single beam.
If indeed R3 uses H7 bulbs and if your left bulb is pointing downward, then you can simply align it properly. SVC/User manual would help in doing so.

May be MT-03 wont make it to India.

deems like naked R15 to me plus it looks like a single cylinder.

The left side does not go from highbeam to lowbeam. When you flick on the highbeam switch, only the right side beam turns on.
You can adjust the pointing of the beams downwards on your own (check manual) or at the SVC.

I did, but that would take another 25-35 day it seems. I'm willing to roll the dice and get the one in stock.

Thanks. I'm too leaning this way, will probably check it thoroughly before putting the money down.

Yes, but considering the kind of fishy dealers that are there nowadays, just make sure its not a display bike and/or used and returned or otherwise misbehaved with bike. It shouldn't be used is what you should look for primarily.

One more thing to look out especially in the R3 scenario is please check to see if it doesn't belong to the earlier lots which had chronic clutch problems. Now you don't want to go through that. Don't know exactly from which month was the enhanced version lots available. Be sure to check that out.

Also I believe the 2016/2017 version has a better paint scheme so on that grounds maybe you can ask for a fresh bike. Cheers. All the best.
Dust, rust, rodents in the warehouse, you name it. The dealer did assure me it was from the newer 2016 batch. I will look for the VIN before booking. Is there any pointer to identify the month/year of manufacture from the VIN?

IMO this bike doesnot resemble the MT15. This design seems kind of mixed bag. Front looks like MT15, tank / tank scoop from MT03 and rear / exhaust somewhat like Fz.

                          Lets see...!!

250cc and no ABS ring seen in the picture. If this is to be launched next year than ABS seems to be must from April 2017 onwards.

Yes. All R3s in India still have 2015 decals. But how do we identify which year/month it was manufactured? Any idea how to get the manufacturing date from VIN number?

Manufacturing date will not be seen in VIN. All that you get is year of manufacture from VIN. If E=2104, F=2015, G=2016. (10th digit)

Have a look at the tyre after DOT, the last four digits; Second Last two digits week of the year, Last two digits specifies year. This will help to understand in which month the bike was assembled.
