Please check the below link. Also if you google for Code 19 you will get the results. In international variant this error is also due to side stand switch. but for india , here the owners who faced this issue confirmed got it resolved by changing lock set.

Also i contacted few reviewers in you tube/blog , they confirmed me that their friends never faced such issue.

You can also check with 2016 owners.

hi guys, my engine cut out twice while i was riding on the highway. The first "notice" of some issue was an uncharacteristic jerk when i just shifted into gear 5 and slowly rolled on the acceleration. like there wasnt a spark for 1 or 2 revs. The first time the engine cut out was when i was...

LOL . getting freebie is nice. But again owners who spend 4 L for bikes wont mind freebies but the showroom experience.

Thanks for the links, but I was actually asking about information regarding it being present in early 2015 models only. But you're right. Only the guys who seemed to have booked the 2015 models seem to be facing these issues. However, the 2016 production bike was also subject to a bunch of recalls as I remember it. I've heard that only the 2017 model will have the fixes implemented on it from the get go. Is this true?

We cant say for sure about 2017 model but logically yes, Yamaha should have fixed the recall issue in 2016 model itself. But this Code 19 is not acknowledged by yamaha officially. So all we can do is to approach newer R3 batch owners to confirm about the issues.

I have approached some 2016 R3 owners but none of them reported any issues. So If i have to book R3, only thing i would do is ensuring the bike belongs to newer batch.

Iam planning to book R3 once i come back to my home town, if everything ( financially ) goes as i planned.

When i spoke to yamaha Engineers they said they know abut the Error 19 issue and all new bikes are coming with the upgrades so even if anyone gets their hands on the old ones the company has fixed the bikes who have that issue.

Woow...that's a great news if those Engineers are correct. The only deal breaker atleast for me is CODE 19 error.

I have read the whole thread and the detailed ownership experiences have helped me immensely in shortlisting the R3 for my next motorcycle.
However, there are a few apprehensions before going ahead and booking it.
Hoping to get some answers over here.

                    1) Will an R3 booked next month be free of the issues with oil pump and clutch present in the recalled models? I think I can find that out once I get the chassis no. Not sure though.
                    2) Which are the good Yamaha authorised showrooms / service centres with trained mechanics in Mumbai / Navi Mumbai?
                    3) I will be riding it 3-4 days a week for 75 kms a day with the occasional touring. Around 80% of this would be on open highways and the remaining with traffic. Will I face any over heating issues in such conditions?

I have received a quote of Rs.3,78,000 from Sakshi Motors, Navi Mumbai.

Have mailed the first question to Yamaha India but still waiting for a response.
                    Hi,

I am also considering the R3. While I am happy most of the issues seem to have been resolved, I decided to do a google search on Sakshi Motors w.r.t R3. I came upon this link:

[Resolved] Yamaha Motor India — Wrong Commitment & Unprofessional Ethics from Yamaha Dealer - Sakshi Motors

Now, I certainly can't attest to the authenticity of this post but if yamaha has replied to it, seems to be genuine.

So if you're gonna book/ have booked, do be careful about which year's bike is given to you.

Others in the forum can also comment on their experience with Sakshi Motors. The google review score is 3.3 but some of the 5* ratings seem to be from the owner's relatives...(you'll come to know)

In addition, do the other yamaha showrooms insist on full payment on booking as mentioned by the aggrieved consumer? Can one insist that one will make payment only after inspection of the VIN? I've never faced such problems in my previous bike purchases (pulsar, classic and street) so this has come as a real shock.

                    Thanks
                    Vignesh

PS: Any word on the ABS version yet? I had read in one of the posts about 20-30 pages back that an engg. told the OP that it is going to be launched in 2017.

I don't think you need to worry about this. Mine is now running perfectly and as per others, the design is changed.

It has to happen. Government made ABS mandatory for bikes above and including 150cc and CBS mandatory on all bikes 125cc and below. New bikes being launched after April '17 have to be ABS equipped and older models can take up to 2018 to do it. So maximum by 2018 we'll have ABS/CBS on all the bikes.

I think it goes like this-
ABS is mandatory on bikes over 125cc and either ABS or CBS can be provided on bikes below 125cc.
                            New bikes - April 2018
                            Existing bikes - April 2019

Maybe someone with exact timeline can confirm.

Hi guys trust me yamaha is more responsive then other Bike manufacturers and they also treat R3 Customers in much better way.

this is coming from an ex benelli tnt300 owner, many TnT owners have to go from mumbai to pune to get spares or to fix simple issues.
