      hi brother,

Awesome collection. The past and the present of Yamaha warriors. Two of the very best Yamaha has produced till now in India. Imagine RD-350 as well with these two. .
      I am already drooling....

How about a small comparo between that RX-135 and the R3 from your point of view ?

      Cheers......

Thanks man ,Rd 350 is what got me interested in biking while the Rx135 5speed is my first bike with my earnings (2000 model) and once you love a 2 stroke you are always stuck to it but as i started touring i felt the need for a bike with a better mid and top range so bought the R15v1 (Blazing red) in 2009 ,enjoyed touring on it specially its brilliant handling but felt the lack of power while riding with bigger bikes so when the R3 came in ,bought a black R3 in 2015 and sold my R15 .
The RX will be a constant in my biking as i use it locally and inside my coffee estate .It's hard to compare a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke ,for short distances and off road conditions the Rx wins hands down ,the initial pick up ,the light weight ,basic trouble free engine makes it so easy to handle anywhere but long distance touring on it is not so enjoyable ,the lack of top end ,light weight ,sound of the engine become a disadvantage .The R3 is a great sports tourer in my opinion but i have had some issues with the quality though they have been solved now. So different horses for different courses but the RD 350 will always have a special place in my heart :-) .
Here's another pic from my album :-)

Guys, any idea if R3 2007 model with ABS will be launched in India this year?

Also, did Yamaha manage to fix the Error 19 issue in the current model of R3?

No abs before 2018 or when government makes it mandatory, error 19 is solved in most of the bikes although I haven't suffered error 19 till now. Those who faced this issues yamaha has changed their locksets under warranty.

Thanks Chandan for info, I had shortlisted R3, but the lack of ABS is dragging me back!

Hope Yamaha would listen to the enthusiasts looking for a Entry-level sports bike with ABS & launch the 2007 model soon, else this market will be captured by Bajaj, TVS etc.

If you are a careful rider you wont need ABS.

People end up in accidents even if their bikes have ABS. Its just how you ride. Ride responsibly.

I will be careful, but others on the road may not be, and in those unfortunate situations, safety features like ABS definitely helps by avoiding wheel lock & retaining the control.

It is a shame that Bike majors like Yamaha, Kawasaki skip ABS on their high priced bikes!

That's because most people think they don't need ABS, they've survived uptil now on non ABS vehicles, so they ain't wiling to pay extra for it. Customer behaviour and laws of the land drive big business.

Agree, but bike makers should provide ABS atleast as an option, like what Bajaj did for Dominar, and 90% of Dominar bookings is for ABS model.
That shows people are aware & understand safety features and ready to shell extra money for those safety features.

Agree that ABS is important feature, but it's difficult to keep price down for R3 or N300, comparing dominar with CKD bikes is wrong. There's huge gap in between. If R3/N300 gets ABS then OTR price would be anywhere around 4.1/4.5L.

Also, keeping in mind ABS is life saver but you can't guarantee that everytime it will save you. Here, skills and experience come into play.

I stayed away from the R3 just because it doesn't has ABS otherwise it would have been a more logical upgrade to CBR.
ABS can be a life saving factor. Its just as useful as a helmet in critical scenarios.

                            hi brother,

Really awesome collection. You are right, once you love a 2-stroke, you are addicted to it for a lifetime. Even I wanted an RD-350 badly, but had to postpone the idea due to lack of patience and basically too many hastles. Still will love to own her in the future-- true legend.

R-15 is another jewel in Yamaha's crown. Absoleutly brilliant machine. I got my RX-135 4-speed in 2001 in my college, then got her fully ported and converted her to 5-speed as well in 2008. Still, love the power delievery, accleration, nimbleness, lightweight, almost nil maintainence, agility, and especially the sound, when she hits the powerband, but even I feel the need of a bigger bike on longer tours, also, I am planning to go to Himachal on my bike in few months. I believe, a bike with a bigger engine and fatter tyres are very important on longer tours. Also, the high pitch scream of my fully ported Yammie might cause a headache in a total of 1080 kms route. ( almost 540 kms one side ). I think an R3 or a RE classic 500 might be in the order. Lets see......

Its really nice to see your collection and your experience with different bikes. Hope to catch some new stories from you in the future too.

                            ALL THE BEST.....

                            Cheers....

What I am saying is that Bike makers should provide ABS atleast as an option & leave it for the buyers to decide if they want to spend extra 20-30k for ABS or not.
I am sure majority of bikers will go for the ABS model.

Yes but here manufacturers like yamaha, kawasaki sees that is it feasible for them or not, whether they will gain profit or not. Other thing is they have to store spare as well.

Yamaha sold around 700 R3 last year, it's not a bike which everyone can buy. If price increased sales chart can possibly see a little bit of decline.

Agree your point that abs should come as optional, for that you can wait till mid 2018 when government makes it mandatory for every manufacturer.
