Hi to all riders over here..

After my yamaha szr and R15V2,I became a proud owner of one more yamaha wonder. The YZF R3.
I got my bike last friday from Banglore dealer.
I have found one abnormality with my new r3.Once the bike is stopped after heatup .and while releasing the clutch at first gear.before proper engagement i am getting a clattering sound from the engine and it will give a big shake to the whole bike.it happens every time the during clutch release after a stop .Today i met a r3 rider while riding back from office .and i checked his bike .this issue i didnt find it in his bike .

I am little bit worried because these kind of issue happend with my r15 v2 due to clucth problem .they replaced the clutch bell several times and at 8000km yamaha engineer findout it was clutch assembly issue and tey replaced it in warranty.and now it is completly fine.

    So,coming back to r3 stuff.
The first thing i checked was weather it is a recalled vehicle .found that it dosent belong to that lot.
I would like to know any r3 rider is facing this issue?? I just done 150 km in my r3.
And how much milege you guys get in highway and in banglore traffic ?

      Hello everyone,

I placed the booking for a blue and silver R3 today at Bikerz Yamaha showroom, T-Nagar chennai. They have promised me a delivery in a week as the blue one is out of stock and has to come from Delhi.

      Few clarifications:

1- Any specifics to keep in mind and check for while taking delivery of the bike?
2- During the TD i felt the MRFs to be quite low on grip. I have ridden my friend's R3 on which he had the Metzelers and i found the grip and stability to be amazing, but i understand that the metzelers is 150/60 whereas the stock MRF is 140/70. Is it okay for the bike and also what are the other options that i can consider?
3- Any specific suggetions that i should keep in mind while running in ?
4- Is the stock horn loud enough or can i get it changed to something louder at the showroom itself?
5- What insurance scheme should i opt for?

      Thanks in advance,

      Ashwin

Hey guys i had a few questions,
        1. Is it possible to set one light as lowbeam as normal but turn on both the lights to highbeam when you turn on highbeam because i found that while cornering at night when you turn right you can see the road in front of you but when you corner left then we cant see the road ahead so for that purpose is it possible?
        2. My bike has run for 300 kms now and i have kept it under 7k rpm throughout although i have accelerated through all the gears at 7k rpm hitting 110 kmph a number of times and i can feel my engine getting a little vibey, is it normal?
        3. My chain sprocket set seems to make a slight clattering sound , the chain was lubed but it still seems to make a cluttering sound ,the rider cannot hear it but the pillion can , and on observing my sprocket today it seems that the ring which is outside the sprocket is not turning uniformly, could that be the reason? And what is the use of the ring? Is it necessary to keep it or can i take it off as i am having difficulty in putting my paddock stand on.
        4. Can i fit a double horn without voiding warranty? As i feel that the stock one isnt loud enough

        Thanks in advance

          Please find the answers below:

          1. Headlight are excellent and have good throw. You cannot turn on both sides in low beam. Actually it's not needed because headlights are that good.

          2. Vibes will be there, it will minimise after first service.

          3. That outer ring is chain sprocket cover/protector and it's attached to chain sprockets. Till now no one has removed it. Check your chain slackness whether it's correct or not. It doesn't interfere in putting bike on paddock stand.

          4. IMO stock horn is sufficient. No need to add additional horns. And yes it would void warranty.

          1. Do basic PDI which is done on every bike.

          2. Yes MRF are not good enough. You can go for Michelin pilot street radial or pirelli diablo Rosso 2 in stock size.

          3. Keep it under 7k rpm and vary speeds.

          4. Yes stock horn does decent job.

          5. Can't comment on insurance part.

            Things to consider that showroom,

            1. You can see the R3. Not only R3. MT, VMax, R1M
            2. It's a Global Show Room. So they can't make any fake promises.
            3. I found people there having more knowledge and passion towards the bike.
Thanks! Just called them and they seem honest and better than others. Most showrooms here seem like they don't want to sell an R3.
They have the blue in stock. Will be going down tomorrow for TD and booking.

Sorry for the questions. Is there any harm in getting a bike that's been sitting on the warehouse for around 2 months?
Seems like R3 is not a fast moving item and the two dealers I checked, have only two months old stock.

R3 is not a bike which would sell like splendor, it costs approx 3.75L. So yes it can be in stock. You can demand dealer for fresh bike.

Boss, it doesn't matter as long as the bike is visually fine with low odo reading. Go ahead and get it before someone else books it.

How does it matter unless you're buying an organic degradable item like an apple for instance.

Yes, but considering the kind of fishy dealers that are there nowadays, just make sure its not a display bike and/or used and returned or otherwise misbehaved with bike. It shouldn't be used is what you should look for primarily.

One more thing to look out especially in the R3 scenario is please check to see if it doesn't belong to the earlier lots which had chronic clutch problems. Now you don't want to go through that. Don't know exactly from which month was the enhanced version lots available. Be sure to check that out.

Also I believe the 2016/2017 version has a better paint scheme so on that grounds maybe you can ask for a fresh bike. Cheers. All the best.

Sorry to bother, but I do remember some time ago that there was a lot of talk about the bike shutting off on its own while riding. Has that issue been identified and resolved now?

Thank you for your valuable input Chandan, one light turning on in low beam is no problem for me, i think it does its job properly and it looks cooler that way, i was actually asking if i could turn both the lights to high beam when i switched to high beam like in the ninja 300, because when was cornering in the dark i couldn't look into the corner when i was leaning towards the right because that side had the lowbeam on but i could look into the corner just fine when i was turning left.

I didn't quite understand your query. Both lamps do light up in high beam.
The left one lights up in low beam IIRC.
Even if you're on low beam and taking a right on dark unlit roads, you may momentarily use the pass light switch to light up the road ahead. Or simply use the high beam if there's no oncoming traffic.
