Overdrive's review is up. 100 kmh comes in 5.5 seconds from standstill !! Except for ABS there is no nitpicking.

After what seemed like an eternity I felt alive. Something stirred in me. Buried deep down for ages, it sprang up and shone bright. Something made me lose my sleep all over again. Kept me wide awake, thrumming my thumbs to an unknown mental rhythm. Reliving every moment of this awesome afternoon..

..When I rode a powerful bike after such a FREAKING LONG TIME!!! That's enough I thought!! I got to get me one of those!!

And so today I booked my R3!

Thanks The above feelings were when I had taken a test ride of a ninja 300 after a drought of 1.5 years after selling off my Duke 200.

I booked the black R3.

I had considered the Ninja 300 only. But went with R3 due to the better power and most importantly the lower running and maintenance costs. I wanted a very hassle free and reliable experience after my duke days. The ninja would have cut it but the asking premium for the spares is just over the roof as compared to R3. For instance the mirrors on the R3 cost around 1300 but they cost 3500 on the ninja!

Didn't consider Benelli because I just could not coax my mind to get over the Chinese influence. Its silly I know. They are awesome bikes and the sound is total eargasm. But the niggles being faced by some benellians I know further aggravated this sub conscious apprehension. Moreover the bike looks way too similar to my ex-duke and I would like to try something different now. (Something faired )

The KTM RC390 was a strict no after my experience with the duke. I am a hardcore rider who takes his bike everywhere possible and the KTM is simply too high maintenance for me. Moreover the pune service centers are too far and few for me to go every time something goes wrong. Still that bike is a beast that I would absolutely love to ride, but not own.

I had been following the R25 since the first teasers were released. And the R3 always appeared to be doing better than the competition according to all the international reviews. And after a lot of consideration and research and pestering of owners of both the ninja and the R3 I decided on the R3.

The only thing that managed to stall my decision a bit was the BMW 313. That bike looks so good! But then the R3 is a step ahead. I had lived with a kickass single cylinder and it was time to move up. And a parallel twin with 42 ponies is the way to go now. This bike will give me room to hone my biking skills further before I move on to the 600s or the 1000s.

And as Old Fox says 'When the upward trend of learning stops, the soul escapes leaving a cadaver behind. And the dead can only be buried.

As far as I know Benelli is Italian with an amazing racing heritage. Why is everyone talking Chinese??

Benelli is Italian. But the fact that TNT 300 and the TNT 600i are made in china,is what makes people tag it as chinese. But that said both bikes have no where the chinese fit and finish. The finish is top notch in both these bikes.

I finalized on R3 because of my previous experience with yamaha (yamaha gladiator 2006 model), the R3's engine and of course the maintenance cost.I even considered the HD street 750(1.5 lakhs more),but then we all know how costly is to live with an Harley and the Street is too short for me(I am 6 feet).
I feel the R3 is a do it all Bike, that can satisfy the riders need in different scenarios-Cruising,City and Track.

I understand that Benelli is an Italian firm but it was bought by the Chinese Quanjiang group. The same group owns Keeway that made the 300, 600i etc. After taking over Benelli they cashed on the Benelli Italian flair and reputation and named their keeway products as TNT.

Not saying that they are bad products but they have a history of niggles faced by customers worldwide. Nothing that you can't live without but as I said, I had my share of maintenance intensive ownership and wanted something else.

Again this is all something that went at the back of my silly and maybe obnoxious mind. Absolutely no offense meant to Benelli owners.

yes owners are busy enjoying the ride..
just completed 2k kms and smooth to run a sweet revving engine.

one for my buddies, who still are doubtful about R3.

Chennai is a conservative city. And a very conservative city when it comes to super bikes. "Intha price ku oru car vangirukalame" is f#$king annoying. I would have bought in Chennai but got it in Bangalore.
