ArnabC - How's this compared to R15 in medium-heavy traffic, I mean in terms of acceleration, in city rides where you can never go >80 kph.

Well the bike profile feels narrow than R15, so with mirrors folded you can actually navigate the bike through very narrow spaces. In terms of acceleration, it's far better than R15, both V1 and V2. But in medium-heavy traffic, you can't go above second gear with that much power and this is what makes the engine heated, but it's ok and quite normal.

Yes, I think the situation was okay when R3 was released last year when they took the pic.

No Kerala's tax's is the highest in India. Bangalore has only 15% and Kerala has 20%.

I liked the PD review very much. It's straight to the point without any usual drama.

To the new owners of YZF-R3:

First of all, my heartiest congratulations to the riders who have recently got hold of the R3. i have been drooling over it for a while but i guess it came a tad bit too late in the Indian market for me. By then, my CBR 250R had already taken a place in my garage and is serving me well. I am shamelessly admitting that i am a die hard Yamaha fanboy!!

If it is not too much to ask, i would request the owners to kindly try and do share some cost details on this thread which will benefit the readers to understand the vehicle a bit more and also for prospective owners it will be a wealth of information:

                                * Cost of essential consumables: Air filter, Oil Filter, Spark Plug, Chain & Sprockets, Foot Pegs, Gear Lever, Brake and Clutch lever, Accelerator & Clutch cables.

                                * General cost of servicing: This may have already been shared but if possible would request the owners to kindly do share the same here.

                                * Cost of other items: indicators if broken and say needs to be replaced, Cam timing chain, cam chain tensioner, rear view mirrors, rear rubber cush dampers, OEM front and rear brake pads, fuel filter (if any), fuel pump and any other items that i may have missed out.

                                * Cost of fibre panels: I am really keen to know if there is a major cost difference between the panels of Yamaha R3 to that of a Ninja 300. If Yamaha has priced the panels/fairings reasonably for the class then, it is definitely an interesting thing to look forward to for a prospective owner.

Since, it is a new motorcycle in the market, what is the expected time for arrival of spares at SVCs? The reason behind all this is to understand: in comparison to the other competitors in the given price bracket of 3 - 4 lakhs, is Yamaha able to offer a better VFM in terms of lower cost of service and spares yet retaining the typical japanese quality? Or is it so that they have kept everything priced at a premium rate? I do understand that in order to get the above info, it will require a bit of pestering the SVC guys: but i am hopeful, the information shared will benefit us all in the long run.

                                Cheers,
