R3 is already coming with Fully Synthetic oil. I have changed it to Motul 7100 10W40 at the second service. The bike is very smooth, previously also after the oil change (first service 1000K) Yamalube was good but it lost it's quality after 4K kms for me. I felt rough after that, so I changed it to Motul. If you are using Yamalube, you can try to change it after 2.5k to 3K if you like, it's cheap too.

Felt the same. Shell is smoother for longer. Will ask about the warranty. Thanks.

How do you plan on breaking-in the engine with full synth oil?

Second Service done for my R3 at 5K. I'm using Motul 7100 10w40 now. Generally the bike is very smooth without any vibes.

I changed oil filter as usual and also this time I changed air filter too. It was dirty and it would be very bad condition if it went to 10K as per the service manual. Again it depends on the dust and pollution in your city.

In India air filter should be changed by four five thousand kms. The long interval the manufacture recommends should be taken with a pinch of salt. Especially in dusty North India.

Super. Thanks Jacob. Any bump in power or urgency in the Engine you noticed post the servicing?

Oh I see. I thought it breaks-in by itself overtime if you let it sit in the garage.

                  Good to know, thanks.

I use to ride tnt 300 which had perelli which were the best tyres i came across till date , while test riding the R3 and the TNT 300 they had the Mrf on them. If you compare both Perellis are good, I still have to check about metzeler.

I guess I should have phrased the question properly. How do you plan on properly breaking in the bike? Surely you dont wanna keep riding 1000s of kilometers just for breaking-in. I ask this question assuming you know the difference between synthetic oil and mineral oil and how they act on the engine and the rest of the components.

I don't think there is any noticeable performance difference although I feel it is very smooth. There is a vibration in certain RPM range, for me around 4.5-6K, the vibration is still there but it's not that alarming, so it's going to stay even after service. I guess it is felt for most.

Well I thought you are saying that it's bad for th engine to break in with a synthetic oil. Of course folks wouldn't mind spending 2k for breaking in when they can afford a 3+lakh ride. Be it 200/300/500km run for break in.

Point i was making that sales person i was talking to did not expect abs to be introduced in India even in future and the reason behind this would be cost of putting ABS on might be more than what we expect it to be. when i was in the market for the bike i was following Benelli thread closely as i was interested in buying tnt 300(changed that decision later after visiting both showrooms and after test riding both the bikes).Initially benelli was supposed to introduced abs for 300 and 600, price increase they were quoting was around 30k maybe because manufacturing cost in china is less.In case of yamaha that might go upto 50k. that might be the reason. What u say.
So apparently the North American version of R3 too doesn't have ABS. Assuming that's true, I don't see a reason why ABS should come to India at all. Not unless a v2.0 gets released in the future..

wait till 2018 if you need ABS,
according to Govt of India rule , all bikes above 125cc must have ABS from 2018 , and its mandatory and also DRL's
