I too was surprised to get a discount, after reading through other's experiences here. My wife haggled and yeah she was smug about it.
I ordered a key tag like this, off e-bay. Will post pictures when it reaches tomorrow.

True. Can't believe Yamaha's dealer's are at either end of Customer Service. I never got a call back from other two dealers, for the R3.

[Resolved] Yamaha Motor India — Wrong Commitment & Unprofessional Ethics from Yamaha Dealer - Sakshi Motors

Now, I certainly can't attest to the authenticity of this post but if yamaha has replied to it, seems to be genuine.

In addition, do the other yamaha showrooms insist on full payment on booking as mentioned by the aggrieved consumer? Can one insist that one will make payment only after inspection of the VIN? I've never faced such problems in my previous bike purchases (pulsar, classic and street) so this has come as a real shock.
I am facing the same situation mentioned in the forum, but with a dealer in Bangalore. Check my post

You don't have to make full payment for booking. Book by paying the min booking amount specified by Yamaha (write to customer care if you face any issues) and make full payment once the bike is available for inspection. Since took loan, the bank insisted on paying the remaining amount before loan approval.

Oh OK, thanks, will keep it in mind. Now more that ever, I'm reminded of the phrase I studied in contracts act, caveat emptor,) i.e buyers beware!

Ah, 2019. Then I guess it doesn't make sense to wait for the abs version. Thanks.

Yes N True !!! Always Yamaha gives more important to customers when compared to other manufacturers!!!

They have their own R&D setup in India and they feel free to recall if they found an issues instead of trying to hide the issue!!!

Check this news about R25. Website says same changes may apply to R3 too. But the Qn is when will this model be launched and be available in India.

2017 R3 was just announced in US with ABS option and new color schemes only. I highly doubt R3 is getting another update like R25. May be 2018 Q2 for US, Q3-Q4 for India.

The render seems to be like a major change. The weight distribution seems to be forward biased.
Most probably i guess the headlight assembly might get LED.

Don't go by the rendering. R25 rendering before it's launch in 2014/15 also looked different from the final version. Don't think there will be much changes other than the LED and USD front forks. Any change in R25 will be carried forward to R3 eventually to keep the production cost down.

USD forks increase the cost, and will probably not be used on the R3 ever IMO.
A change in the Dash/dial will probably be welcome. LED's are cheap and I would expect those.
However, I am very satisfied with the headlight of the R3. As good as a car Headlight.

Yes, stock R3 headlights are very good. After all, 110w of light is a lot always (car like). But LEDs are not cheap. And we're not talking those el cheapo Chinese Rs 50 LEDs here. These are branded (Philips, Osram, Cyclops, Hella etc) LEDs. They cost over 6k a piece.
                      Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Doesn't the reflector design on the R3 hinder the light to be thrown at optimum level like the R15's?

I find my R15S reflectors to be of a really poor design(or whatever is their problem), no matter what you do, you can't get the light proper.

                        Regards.

I agree with R15 having a very bad light throw. No wonder people upgrade to projectors. Most Indian bikes have poor light throw.

Well if its the reflector design only, which is the "inside part", can the reflector of R3 be fitted into the R15's headlight? Just a thought, pretty no one has done this so far.

                            Regards.

No. The dimensions are different. Obviously one can fit it with some desi jugaad but it would be rendered useless.

                                Hi all R3 owners,

I received my R3 two weeks ago. Been doing a lot of reading on this forum and reviews from other sites.

I have been biking for many years and have had the pleasure of owning several brands of bikes in many different sizes.
They have ranged from brands like Kawasaki, Hyosung, Suzuki, Honda, GasGas and some Chinese bikes. My very first bike was a Yamaha and now I am back with this awesome brand.

The commuter bike I had before deciding to upgrade to the R3 was the Suzuki Gixxer 150 (GSX150F). Very good bike but not powerful enough to cope with highway traffic.

Already ordered some new brake and clutch levers for the R3 and hope it will complement the good looks of the bike.
