Ideally they should have launched the bike with ABS at least as an option if they had customer safety in mind.

It's a new bike with a big engine with equally big price tag.

I am no automobile engineer however the way i understand it ABS is like an accessory that can be fitted with some modifications. So what is taking it so long?? The problem is intention as its not mandatory

People opting for Royal Enfield Himalayan. Please watch the video.

You all saw and possibly know that I had a major issue with the Steering Stem(Cone Set) of my bike along with other problems like fuse going kaput etc, here a...

I understand, its just one person's experience. But still, do lookout.

Note : I'm not against the bike, I love it but I'm scared to buy it.

When asked the question about ABS and FI during the launch of the Himalayan, they said that they will launch only when its mandate by the Government.

Launch video is available on Youtube.

sree_unicorn I did watch the video last night. Also have commented my views on that video. He did get the bike fixed, happy to hear that but on what cost. He had to go through all that headache with the service center guys. Do they even treat you as a human? Forget as a valuable customer.
I don't even want to comment any further about them. They are trying so hard to be a bad name to the whole customer service field.

I agree with you , as a RE Thunderbird owner I knows how the company will take our patience for granted , over a time realised that expecting same kind of customer service experience and build quality provided by Honda (I owns a Unicorn too) in RE was my mistake, now things are improved far better compared to what it was at 2012 and 2013 ,
only suggestion is that go for what mind says , comparing Himalayan with mojo won't do justice here , both falls under different categories. If one goes to buy Himalayan by it's look there the trouble begins , it never can be a Suzuki samurai "The no problem bike" which you can slot in the keys and go for your daily commutes. It requires preventive maintenance like any other RE bikes.

As it was not mandatory, they didn't launch it as option. Because they have to keep check on price.
It is not easy to make ABS. They are working in such a way that it can be retrofitted on the existing bike. This is what I was told by R and D Engineer. Each and every mechanical product takes time. They have to launch it after proper testing.

Again here with a query.
I work and Live in Gurgaon.

I have a Mahindra Mojo. Mahindra and a lot of my fellow riders claim it's mileage to be around 30 (27-30).
Where as I am getting a lot lower than that. 20-25 normally.

I am not a very bad rider. Bike seems happy and no sudden throttle or braking is done on my part. No overspeeding (not all the time.)
I used to get 40-45 on my last ride Apache RTR 180.
I keep the chain lubricated and the tyre pressure in check. Acceleration and clutch wires are good as new and the only problem I can see is the fuel quality that I use.

Any help from you all experienced guys is welcome..

Thanks..
I get only 20 - 25 in city, because I will be hardly shifting beyond 4th gear. I get well above 30 - 34 kmpl on highways. I believe this is because you get the best mileage when you are constantly doing 90 - 110 in 6th gear. To be frank I am quite happy with this.

Look at the design, speedo of Benelli TNT 899 which they are using for last 13 years and the speedo of recently launched MOJO.

Now SPOT THE DIFFERENCE
Mahindra doesn't make clusters, that will be outsourced ofcourse. Obviously they would have chosen a newer design, but this is functional enough and neat, so no big deal.

I would appreciate any assistance with my query ASAP. I have been looking to buy the Mojo for quite some time. However, i was reluctant to plonk down the cash for a new one. Now though I have got a chance at getting myself a used Mojo and I would be grateful if existing owners can answer my queries.

The bike is a 2016 model Mojo which has run 7000kms. The points of primary concern (from my limited exposure to the bike in the form of ownership threads and test rides) are :

1. Has anyone experienced engine knocking (or engine clatter) in this bike. Also does the fuel pump whistle during rides (I am not talking about the fuel pump whistle on startup).
2. What is the expected life of the brake pads . Owners in another forum had complained of them wearing out in 2000 kms. Is this still the case?

Both the above issues were reported by owners on another forum and I would like to know if Mahindra resolved these by now.

3. Expected life of the Pirellis and their cost of replacement. Also the cost for other options like Michellins.
4. Reasonable price for a Mojo is used condition (2016 model, used for 6 months and run 7000kms) in Bangalore.
5. Routine service interval and costs for the same.
6. Coverage that is given under the extended warranty scheme by Mahindra.

Sorry for the multiple questions but I would like to make sure that I can handle the maintenance expenditure for the bike if something comes up. Is there anything else that I might need to check to see if the bike has been abused beyond its capabilities (I am getting the bike checked out at the service centre..but even then).
1) Haven't noticed any knocking yet while riding. There is knocking at times during idling, probably due to fuel quality or engine being cold during initial starting.

2) on brake pads, it completely depends on your riding habit. I have done 6k kms and the pads would easily last another 4k to 5 k kms. I use more of engine braking and use the rear brake very less.

3) I have seen pirellis lasting 10 k kms, 13 k kms etc, depends on how and where you ride. Big Bang Biker has made a good video on pirellis and its alternatives. Pretty good video, covers almost every query you have. Do check out in you tube.

4) Cannot comment on this but one thing I can assure you is that the bike is of top notch quality and can take a lot of abuse and still be very good.

5) 6000 kms / 6 months. I did my second service last month. It cost me 1.8k. I replaced one rear view mirror, and an indicator bulb along with the regular service stuff. Pretty reasonable I must say.

If you are from Bangalore, you can blindly take word from service center guys. They are very good at the bike, especially Alfa domlur.

Hope this helps.

It looks good , will be quite comfortable for pillions. Is this ready available or custom built ??

It's not an official accessory, it's custom built. The seat is stock, but it still gives a lot more space to pillion in the sense that the pillion can lean backwards without any fear of falling off.
