After a so long time i am posting a very useful DIY for my 2016 R15 S.

Many R15 S/v2 rider facing frequent rear swing arm greasing issue. Its tuff job to grease it at home or pay in thousand at yamaha service centre.

I make this change to grease it easily.

I feel sorry for you brother. Exactly same thing happened when I gave my bike to wash at Bengaluru EBW Hennur Washing Center, the guy directed the water jet towards the radiator and bent almost 80% fins. I had a huge argue with the owner of the EBW after coming and seeing that. Then, after watching some youtube videos, I straightened almost all the fins with the help of screw driver (flat & long) and it was tiresome work for a faired bike with minimum access. Thereafter whenever I drop my bike to the service, I warn them not to throw water to radiator and I do it myself with a mug & a bucket at home.

Secondly, regarding vibration, it will come at exactly 4000-4500rpm, the front speedometer top black plastic cover will rattle and touch with the inside of clear windshield. The small sponge given both sides won't reduce that buzz that much, so I bought a damaged Tube from a local puncture shop and cut a small piece with about 5mm thickness, and glued (feviqwik) it just at the same place where the black small sponges are there. After then, it is gone.

P.S. Yamaha make good bikes, but majority service centers damage them.

hmm yea ty bro. from next tme ill be more carefull. also i heard about radiator guards, are they any good? does it void my warranty?? tho i cant find it anywhere.

The damage isn't alarming per se. It clearly is the result of direct shot of pressurized water to the radiator by washing personnel or a mishandle by the mechanics while holding or grabbing at a point. Sentimentally though, it's painful to see it such a condition, the positive side is that, your cooling efficiency doesn't get affected at all, as the radiator is more than fit enough to handle the cooling efficiently.

Next time, keep a keen eye when the motorcycle is given for a wash, especially when pressurized water is used.

I do suggest setting aside a budget to buy a decent helmet and riding gear, you will appreciate your bike's capabilities even more when you ride with safety.

The moment i saw R15 v1 on jan 2010 i've decided to buy this bike with the money i earn. no matter the what and after a long wait i finally got this bike

the vibrations are coming from front part. when is bike is not in motion no matter how much rpm i accelerate my bike to i see no vibrations but once bike is on a moment i get vibrations(not always only at some speed and some times and sometimes i wont get it at all.)

feels like body vibrations which i feel right after i shift gear(any gear) and start accelerating back after a few moments it vanishes after a while , sometimes it stays throughout the journey. i noticed generally it comes at 3-5k rpm(mostly), varies accordingly.

i did visit SVC about this and this time i refused to do service in my absence i did wait for 5 hrs and made the to take a test drive and check he took it for a test ride and came back and said something to the other guy then he replaced the coolant. and asked me to take a test ride i did check in every aspect i didn't get any vibrations at that time. i taught everything is fine and left the place after 3 hours the vibrations started again. ...........................................

and about the radiator they didn't do any type of water servicing to my bike at the service time. (are they supposed to do it?). i worked hard for so long and bought this bike and seeing the radiator makes me very sad. if me or some one i know did that to my radiator i wouldn't be much worried. some person who i don't know did it and blames that i did it instead which makes me feel like .... ( ... cannot express...). i don't use bike much often either only to my institute(may be once a week not more than that)and a ride covers 150-160 kms once a month.

i am attaching the photos of radiator. and also i hear about about radiator guards. anyone know about them?

That's not because of the mechanic but by the washing people. I would say, you wash it thoroughly next time and ask them not to wash, just service.

Hi Srikanth,
Congratulations on acquiring the R15-S! It is a problem-free bike for the most part indeed.

Regarding the vibrations, it will be more helpful if you can point out exactly what part/area of your bike is experiencing these vibes? As usually vibrations are not very characteristic of a brand new R15.

As a general DIY, You may check all fairing allen bolts are secured properly, and not loose. You can do this with the 6 mm hex key that is included in your tool kit.

Another area that is prominent for vibrations to show up is the piece of plastic between the visor and speedometer, if this is your case then I suggest placing a small piece of sponge/foam between the speedometer console and the plastic cover above it, that should fix it.

Damage to radiator fins must have been caused by inexperienced worker at your SVC aiming water jet directly at the radiator (This should never be done).
A few bends here and there won't kill your radiator, but always better to be careful in the future; try being present at the SVC if you can while they service your bike.

hello i bought an r15 s on april 25 2018, and gave my bike for the 1st service on may 23 2018. every thing works fine after servicing except some vibrations not all time but its like coming and going. now coming to the point when i gave my bike to the 1st service i noticed they damaged my radiator the fins are bent at 2 positions completely not even slightly. when i asked the mechanic at SVC they said it wont be much of a problem. but since its a very new bike m worried a bit . can i do something about that?

55kmpl is quite normal for this bike. Dont just rip the bike, just ride naturally. I still get 52kmpl inside city and my bike nearing 50K kms.

I am from Kolkata. I last serviced my fazer and one frnd's fz25 at Technocon Yamaha Showroom. The mechanics are very knowledgable. It is located on NH6 in Howrah Ankurhati, just take left after Santragachi Bus Terminus to be on NH6, The showroom is very big, easily can be seen on the right side.

Make sure you should be there within 9:00am to avoid getting delayed in the queue.

Hi, got my R15S a month ago. I am very happy that I bought it over any other bike. The bike has ~2600 kms on Odo and due for second service in a week or so.

My daily commute subjects bike to diverse road conditions, Highway(10km), Sub Urb roads(5km) and Rural roads with Pot Holes.(5km) and not to mention small trips to Tea Shops.(Late nights).

And right from my First Tank fill it has consistently delivered 55kmpl. Or I doubt whether my method to calculate is flawed. I fill everytime and reset the trip. When fuel blinks I go to Tank fill again. I take Trip Reading X kms / Fuel that went inside y litres. So mileage is X / y kmpl.

Apart from this, occasionally there is a sound from rear discs. But I have started feeling the engine to be free compared to when I bought it.
