Thanx buddy...I currently own a 2009 Karizma R.. Done abt 88K Kms on ODO so far....

My expectations for next bike : Same old karizma (half faired) with Fuel Injection.. (or) a 200cc Unicorn (or) Yamaha FAZER FI with bigger engine... But none of them were there...

As soon as i saw the Suzuki Gixxer, it appealed to me... So decided to take test ride of the bike.. Went to showroom (SMS Suzuki, Tiruvallur, TamilNadu), requested for a test ride....At first i was accompanied by a pillion (Showroom Executive), later i requested them for a solo ride... They duly obliged..... The moment i sat on the bike, the position was so good... Never felt that on my Karizma R....The bike pulled easily without any glitches....I was impressed, may be because it was 15 Kgs Lighter than Karizma, i felt it like that....

BTW i commute around 90 Kms a day...So immediately finalised the bike & went thru bank loan...

I paid 83,058 (OTR) in Tiruvallur (Chennai)....

why i decided against yamaha fz v2.0

new yamaha fz v2.0 is having compromised low cost fuel injection system. its an open loop FI. means as per my knowledge there is no O2/lambda sensor at the exhaust. so is the R15 (that is why honda cbr150r costs more than R15). not sure how about new karizma. an open loop FI system wont offer much above carb engine. may be a slight increase in FE and better throttle response. but definitely not worth of the extra amount we have to pay. a well designed carb engine will beat open loop FI engine any day. ex: Gixxer!

moreover, a FI engine will require to either clean or replace the fuel injector every 6000km or so(pls correct me if i am wrong here). that adds to extra maintenance cost. other miscellaneous disadvantages i found is, the fuel tank has to be always filled with atleast 2 liters of petrol to maintain proper pressure on fuel injector, failing which FI system malfunctions or it simply stops functioning. so you can't empty the tank. that means if you have to take your bike in train, then its practical impossible for FI engine as in trains they wont allow bikes with that much petrol for safety reasons. also FI engine has to be serviced/repaired by authorized dealers only. a road side mechanic will not be able to fix issues, while he can easily work on carb engines.

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.

Your maintenance points aside, the new FZ 2.0 is actually equipped with a closed loop fuel injection system. Go to the dedicated FZ site to see.
