Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Duke doesn't have a rev lock, its an indicator that's set to 5K till the first servicing and then opened up after it. It just indicates that RPM spot, you can very well rev over it but that's not reccommended.Originally posted by sshiremath2000 View Posti suggest to leave the RPM indicator to default setting which i think is 4500. after first service they will only set it to 7000. moreover its only an indicator and not actually 'rev lock' (as in duke).Regards,

Yes.. The rear mudguard can be removed... Nope... I don't have plans to remove it as it would help me keep away dirt from the bike and the biker following me....Originally posted by Ankur Walia View Posti will also be buying this bike around 18-19 Oct, i have heard that rear mudguard can be removed, do u plan to remove it? if possible can u pls post a pic with detached mudguard...nd red looks just awesome, m also thinking between this nd black.
I know how difficult it is for a rider when a bike in front slashes dirt on your helmet when you are following them...So like to be responsible on the road as far as I can

Thanx buddy... Here is a snap from service manual on the service interval...Originally posted by dream_victor View PostNice pics and congrats on the new bike
CAn you post information from manual on service interval ? If i remember correctly GS 150R had a service interval of 1.5-2months which I felt was too short

Here is a snap of Gear Ratios from the manual...Originally posted by Shiva Subramaniam View PostHey!! Congratulations on your new ride
I too am planning on getting a white one next month
Could you please post snaps of the air filter and the gear ratios from the manual??
Thanks in advance
Why do u need the snaps of air filter? In the manual you can barely distinguish the images...

Just curiousabout what kind of air filter the gixxer uses
What's your feedback on the low ground clearance?? Cause any issues with massive potholes?

Hmmm.. It is in its place on my bike.... Never fiddled with it so far... Will observe for some more time & update on this...Originally posted by avi_loveindia View PostWill somebody would tell us about the HandleBar ends weights ,, there are not so good reviews about it on the internet,, All saying that this comes out of place very early

I ll try to open the seat, locate the air filter & click a picture & upload here....Originally posted by Shiva Subramaniam View PostThanks again for the photo

Ground clearance as per the flyer in the showroom is 160mm i guezz.... Haven't had any issues so far.... Have taken it over steep speed breakers & it didn't scrape the exhaust.... Now all this is was Solo.... Will check with a pillion & update later....
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Two things i would like to mention here....
1) There is a slight wobble on the handle bar... ? Any inputs on how to get it fixed...Not sure if i need to tighten the steering nut (or) tyre issue....
2) Suzuki should have made the plastic scoop above the headlight a little bigger one.... Something like what we find on Karizma, a tinted strong plastic material, which would deflect air away from the rider....At-least they should provide this as optional one for approx 200 - 300 Rs....

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Try to tighten the steering nut first and check out, I don't think it will be a tyre issue, for as safer side do visit the service center they should fix it
Suzuki should also provide a mud flap for front (like the one for KTM Duke and Pulser 200 NS) this will help in rain or else it gets really messy while driving in Rain or water. I am thinking of modifying the KTM mud flap to fix in Gixxer

Sure buddy... Will update the service center when i get my 1st service done....Regarding the mud-flap yes.... I think they refrained because it might spoil the looks... But optional is always good for those who need it...Originally posted by harishbabu View PostTry to tighten the steering nut first and check out, I don't think it will be a tyre issue, for as safer side do visit the service center they should fix it

Already clocked around 400 Kms.... So far mileage is roughly 45 Km/l.. This is mixed riding of highways, suburbs & city & RPM not exceeding 6K...... I think after 1st servicing it should improve....Originally posted by ronitgandhi24 View Postguys mileage figure post service ?? .. How many kms have u guys done

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
@truelypulsarian Sorry for the late reply, You have been asking about snaps and initial bike review in the review thread; I thought posting here would be good enough for the general public!
I am located in Bangalore and drive 40 kms daily to work(to & fro). I was with the idea of getting a bike with a 90k budget a year ago with Apache 180, FZ and 200NS in mind. After being in a small bike accident I changed my mind into purchasing a Apache 180+ABS to get better braking control(brakes locked up in my old XCD causing a minor accident). But due to financial issues I had given up on my biking dream.
Then after the recent amazing hikes+bonus in my company
, I once again rekindled my thought of buying one last month. So keeping in mind that FZ-FI v2.0 & Gixxer 155 has been launched I did TD to reassess my decision.
FZ-FI v2.0: Light vehicle, Good Pickup, Comfortable seats & Smooth Ride, Great Handling, No Vibes till 80kmph(max speed which I was able to reach in my TD); Vehicle feels a little stressed when it was hovering ~80kmph.
Apache 180+ABS: Amazing pickup, Comfortable seating position, blazing fast and prone to a lot of vibes; After riding a FZ-FI v2.0 Apache feels really uncomfortable to ride due to vibes
Pulsar 200NS: Again everything the Apache was with little to no vibes and.... mindbogglingly fast; I noticed a lot of vibes somewhere above 5000rpm
Gixxer: Light vehicle, Better Pickup than FZ, Comfortable seats & Smooth Ride, Great Handling, No Vibes till 90kmph(max speed which I was able to reach in my TD)
After reassessment these are the features that I wanted in a bike - Good Pickup + No Vibrations + Comfortable ride

So far FZ-FI v2.0 and Gixxer were able to satisfy these; So with a Budget of 90k, I happily walked into Aryan Suzuki Showroom in Domlur, paid them full amount in advance and was asked to produce documents.
For full cash advance these are the required documents/copies that were needed:
2 passport size Photographs
Signed and filled Form 20; In my case I just signed it and the dealer took care of filling the same.
Proof of Residence in Bangalore -- Ration Card/Passport/Gas Bill/Voters ID/DL/Affidavit signed by Notary public-which requires either a phone bill/Rental Agreement/HR letter
Better to visit the showroom in the morning, pay the amount and submit the documents. Min 60k - in cash; In case you dont want to pay full amount. This way if the bike is available the bike will be sent off for registration within 2:00pm within that day and can be collected the next day preferably in the evening with the number plate.
Sep 18th -
Got a call from the showroom on Sep 17th and since I was tied on that day went to showroom for collecting the bike on 18th. COLOUR - BLACK. Showroom had good sales rep and the manager of the showroom explained all the the features with do/donts --
1. Never ride more than 60kmph until the bike is seasoned; wait for bike to clock 2000kms to drive at will
2. Stay under ~4500rpm
3. Advised to switch off light if not in use or while parked since it uses DC.
4. 8 services with 4 free of charge services for over 2 years.
5. 750-1000kms/30days which ever comes first for first service.
6. Request for free Teflon coating once 1st service is over. Small slip was given for the same.
7. Better to use kick start in the morning/if the vehicle is under rest for more than 6-8 hrs.
Been almost 2 weeks since I have the bike now and here are my first impressions. Will keep on updating as my ODO keeps on ticking!
More pics coming up soon!
My Ergonomics: 5"10, 74kgs
Pros
1. Seating Position and seats are comfortable
2. Bike is Rev happy; Never heard it struggling under stress. Will be updating it once I have crossed 2000kms.
3. Can reach 60kmph within a span of 6 sec while maintaining 4500rpm; That's immensely fast in my books!
1st gear - 0 - 15
2nd gear - 15-30
3rd gear - 30-44(reached rpm threshold of 4.5k)
4th gear - 44 - 55(reached rpm threshold of 4.5k)
5th gear - 55 - 64(reached rpm threshold of 4.5k)
4. No Vibes at all so far
5. Light handlebar
6. Very Good Looking
7. Very Good Instrument Cluster; Only bike I have found to have both gear indicator + rpm modifier/indicator. Plus the instrument cluster is full digital and is bright enough
8. Mileage seems to be a bit north of 50Kmpl
9. Stock suspension is good enough on rough bangalore roads
10. Overall the bike seems pretty solid and easy enough to manoeuvre.
11. Stock tires are really good and encourage cornering a lot!
12. Clutch is good & responsive
13. Trip A/B
14. Gear position and side stand is well designed and fitted in such a way that both dont interfere - I am looking at you RTR!
Cons
1. Bike is a bit short like FZ, hence while driving my foot always lies on the back-brakes for comfort. Although mentioning this in a con, it seems like suzuki has expected this situation for tall riders and have made back-brake actually work when you press a little further down. So basically me keeping a foot on the brake a little is not triggering the brakes. No idea if this is the ideal way of driving.
2. No disc option for the rear
3. Ground clearance is on the lower side; it matters when there is a pillion driver. Got my center stand to get hit on two speed breakers(Only happened with abnormal ones) when driving along with a pillion rider.
4. Pillion seat is not that comfortable; A little stout person can find it hard to sit in the back without his back pressing against the supporting rods.
5. Although front disc brakes are good, it seems like the brake bites only a little further down the middle rather than at first. I dont know if this is how exactly the disc brakes work since I have had different feelings while driving FZ, 200 NS and RTR
6. Handlebar is in desperate need of a proper grip.... My hands feels a bit tired holding those small skeleton bars
7. Engine tends to get a bit hot when under 1 or 2 gear for more than 5 mins - Can anyone confirm if this is normal and present in other bikes too?
8. Kick start could have been designed in such way that you dont need to move the foot rest away
9. Cant keep up with the 60kmph restriction because the bike is so so good!
10. 6th Gear!
Feel free to shoot your questions or doubts which you have about this bike; Here to help you!Last edited by SriramN; 10-05-2014, 09:16 PM.
