    Con number 9 haha :P

Thanks for the write up! I believe there is an eco mode? Could you tell us what is the maximum speed the Gixxer rides on 5th gear in Eco mode before moving to power mode(or whatever Suzuki calls it)?

I am asking this to understand what is the maximum speed we can ride the bike and still get optimum mileage(by staying in eco mode on 5th gear).

I am located in Bangalore and drive 40 kms daily to work(to & fro). I was with the idea of getting a bike with a 90k budget a year ago with Apache 180, FZ and 200NS in mind. After being in a small bike accident I changed my mind into purchasing a Apache 180+ABS to get better braking control(brakes locked up in my old XCD causing a minor accident). But due to financial issues I had given up on my biking dream.

Then after the recent amazing hikes+bonus in my company , I once again rekindled my thought of buying one last month. So keeping in mind that FZ-FI v2.0 & Gixxer 155 has been launched I did TD to reassess my decision.

FZ-FI v2.0: Light vehicle, Good Pickup, Comfortable seats & Smooth Ride, Great Handling, No Vibes till 80kmph(max speed which I was able to reach in my TD); Vehicle feels a little stressed when it was hovering ~80kmph.

Apache 180+ABS: Amazing pickup, Comfortable seating position, blazing fast and prone to a lot of vibes; After riding a FZ-FI v2.0 Apache feels really uncomfortable to ride due to vibes

Pulsar 200NS: Again everything the Apache was with little to no vibes and.... mindbogglingly fast; I noticed a lot of vibes somewhere above 5000rpm

Gixxer: Light vehicle, Better Pickup than FZ, Comfortable seats & Smooth Ride, Great Handling, No Vibes till 90kmph(max speed which I was able to reach in my TD)

After reassessment these are the features that I wanted in a bike - Good Pickup + No Vibrations + Comfortable ride

        Sep 16th -
So far FZ-FI v2.0 and Gixxer were able to satisfy these; So with a Budget of 90k, I happily walked into Aryan Suzuki Showroom in Domlur, paid them full amount in advance and was asked to produce documents.

For full cash advance these are the required documents/copies that were needed:
        2 passport size Photographs
Signed and filled Form 20; In my case I just signed it and the dealer took care of filling the same.
Proof of Residence in Bangalore -- Ration Card/Passport/Gas Bill/Voters ID/DL/Affidavit signed by Notary public-which requires either a phone bill/Rental Agreement/HR letter

Better to visit the showroom in the morning, pay the amount and submit the documents. Min 60k - in cash; In case you dont want to pay full amount. This way if the bike is available the bike will be sent off for registration within 2:00pm within that day and can be collected the next day preferably in the evening with the number plate.

        Sep 18th -
Got a call from the showroom on Sep 17th and since I was tied on that day went to showroom for collecting the bike on 18th. COLOUR - BLACK. Showroom had good sales rep and the manager of the showroom explained all the the features with do/donts --

        1. Never ride more than 60kmph until the bike is seasoned; wait for bike to clock 2000kms to drive at will
        2. Stay under ~4500rpm
        3. Advised to switch off light if not in use or while parked since it uses DC.
        4. 8 services with 4 free of charge services for over 2 years.
        5. 750-1000kms/30days which ever comes first for first service.
        6. Request for free Teflon coating once 1st service is over. Small slip was given for the same.
        7. Better to use kick start in the morning/if the vehicle is under rest for more than 6-8 hrs.

Been almost 2 weeks since I have the bike now and here are my first impressions. Will keep on updating as my ODO keeps on ticking!

        More pics coming up soon!

        My Ergonomics: 5"10, 74kgs

        Pros
        1. Seating Position and seats are comfortable
        2. Bike is Rev happy; Never heard it struggling under stress. Will be updating it once I have crossed 2000kms.
        3. Can reach 60kmph within a span of 6 sec while maintaining 4500rpm; That's immensely fast in my books!
        1st gear - 0 - 15
        2nd gear - 15-30
        3rd gear - 30-44(reached rpm threshold of 4.5k)
        4th gear - 44 - 55(reached rpm threshold of 4.5k)
        5th gear - 55 - 64(reached rpm threshold of 4.5k)
        4. No Vibes at all so far
        5. Light handlebar
        6. Very Good Looking
        7. Very Good Instrument Cluster; Only bike I have found to have both gear indicator + rpm modifier/indicator. Plus the instrument cluster is full digital and is bright enough
        8. Mileage seems to be a bit north of 50Kmpl
        9. Stock suspension is good enough on rough bangalore roads
        10. Overall the bike seems pretty solid and easy enough to manoeuvre.
        11. Stock tires are really good and encourage cornering a lot!
        12. Clutch is good & responsive
        13. Trip A/B
        14. Gear position and side stand is well designed and fitted in such a way that both dont interfere - I am looking at you RTR!

        Cons
        1. Bike is a bit short like FZ, hence while driving my foot always lies on the back-brakes for comfort. Although mentioning this in a con, it seems like suzuki has expected this situation for tall riders and have made back-brake actually work when you press a little further down. So basically me keeping a foot on the brake a little is not triggering the brakes. No idea if this is the ideal way of driving.
        2. No disc option for the rear
        3. Ground clearance is on the lower side; it matters when there is a pillion driver. Got my center stand to get hit on two speed breakers(Only happened with abnormal ones) when driving along with a pillion rider.
        4. Pillion seat is not that comfortable; A little stout person can find it hard to sit in the back without his back pressing against the supporting rods.
        5. Although front disc brakes are good, it seems like the brake bites only a little further down the middle rather than at first. I dont know if this is how exactly the disc brakes work since I have had different feelings while driving FZ, 200 NS and RTR
        6. Handlebar is in desperate need of a proper grip.... My hands feels a bit tired holding those small skeleton bars
        7. Engine tends to get a bit hot when under 1 or 2 gear for more than 5 mins - Can anyone confirm if this is normal and present in other bikes too?
        8. Kick start could have been designed in such way that you dont need to move the foot rest away
        9. Cant keep up with the 60kmph restriction because the bike is so so good!
        10. 6th Gear!

Feel free to shoot your questions or doubts which you have about this bike; Here to help you!

Excellent review & pics man. Waiting for more pics

There is no Eco mode on the speedo... If you can do genuine speeds of 80Kmph on top gear, mileage will better than ripping the bike in each gear....

I was thinking that it was O-Ring type chain... Per manual it is R428NOR, 132 Links..No mentioned abt chain type...

Light spread is good in low beam & high beam and adequate.... Would have preferred a 55/60W bulb.... My brother has 60/55W bulb... Will try to fit that & check the lighting for any improvement...

I've taken 2 test rides and almost zeroed in on Gixxer(Actually waiting for Honda's New 160CC). A small question - Is there room for bigger battery(7Ah) in the battery compartment?; I am used to 100/90 bulb and cannot imagine a 35/35 for the headlight.

I took a small test ride near my home and bike is really impressive.Reminds me of Suzuki fiero :-)
Test ride bike they gave has speedo disconnected, when i enquired,They said this is same case with all the suzuki dealers and They will not sell this bike to customer.
They even dared me to note down the chasis number and engine number to confirm.

I enquired about the chain,Manager showed me an email from suzuki about the chain being some sort of self lubricating sealed one.It needs maintenance once in 1000kms only.
They were also instructed to get Motul chain spray for lubrication.I think this chain will be better than the current o ring types available in the market.

Even after taking 2 test rides, still not convinced with Gixxer .. Actually before i chose Gixxer, Honda Cb Trigger is what i had shortlisted.. I like to rev the bikes sensibly, love to shift gears @ higher RPM if bike is flexible... I loved the Honda Trigger that way & Gixxer even more.... 3rd & 4th gears are good enough for ripping.....Juz waiting to complete the first service & 1000 Kms.....

Am yet to check the battery... I will be fitting Roots horn in the coming holidays, during that time, will check with the local technician & try if it can take bigger battery....

BTW not sure on the Alternator if it can take bigger battery & if it could charge them.... (Appreciate any inputs on how i can locate the Alternator & check if it can take bigger battery)

100/90 on Bike's ? Which bike do you have ? I think reflector might not be able to stand that heat.... i think next logical mod will be 55/60 bulb....

When you look at the chain, it looks ordinary type.....Good if it can handle the dust & slush...

I am very much convinced with Gixxer & that is why I said "almost zeroed in". As a point of fact I was very much interested in CB trigger until I saw it up-close. The switches(esp the choke which looks like an autorickshaw switch) and the welding joints changed my decision. My 8 year Old Unicorn's switches look better than trigger's.
I still want to give Honda another chance with its new speculated 160cc one; if it is not upto the mark, then Gixxer it is for me.

I am using Tata Ace's sealbeam for 100/90.

Great... Me too was in the same boat as you are in now... Juz wanted to wait for Honda what they deliver, but after looking @ Gixxer & test riding it couldn't resist

Coming to the head lamp, i used a 60/55W Halonix bulb on my Karizma R which was only 35W stock... After 5.5 yrs of usage, i could find the reflector couldn't take the heat & there were some bobbling (not sure if it is right word) on the reflector.. Hence the question.... But if your Unicorn's reflector could handle it, fine..

                        Hi All,

I brought this bike a week ago,I am from Delhi and my height being 5'8'',This is the best choice for me and I fell for this Bike the first time i saw it .

Now coming to the Review of Gixxer from my Point of view.

1.I am getting very low fuel efficiency, around 40 kmpl and i hope this will get rectified after first service.

2.Engine Heats up more than usual when I ride in the streets, It's very hot even after 5 minutes of ride.I want some reviews of fellow members regarding this..

3.Ground clearance is bit disappointing,as My bike scratched it's middle part of exhaust(tank kind of something idk) nearly 2-3 times with pillon on breakers of appreciable height and with sudden braking.

Other than that This Machine is hell of a powerhouse.

-It's pickup is very better than that of old FZ-S(my friend owns one).

                        -Stability is also very good.

-People themselves say that it's far better than FZ, just by looking at it.

-Nothing to say about Exhaust.(It beats the hell out of every style out there in the market.)

-Look wise it looks Huge too and is lightweight too.

-Front Disc response is good as far as my view is concerned since This configuration avoids sudden braking and disc locks.

-And there are many other countless pros which I'll keep adding with Time.

Since I am new to biking I request you guys to address my concerns regarding Engine heat up(sudden),low mileage.
Today when i started my bike i wanted to let my bike idle for a moment(Neutral gear) without pulling accelerator...but to my surprise the engine stopped after 20-30 seconds. Is it the case with every bike?? I am tense if this is a fault??
Since In cars if you let it at Neutral and don't put your foot on accelerator, car Engine keeps revving.

Except these 2-3 Problems,I am in love with this machine.

Wow ,,just wow,,, i had decided Blue one but evry new Black one has made my decision changed ,,, How u got Leg Guard,, whats the fitting price

Yeah Black looks Huge too,Since the color of Tyres,Engine and bike (all black) mixes up to give it a nice and Huge look.
Other colors give it a somewhat small looks(in length).

I got it fitted from the showroom itself @rs 400,The guy was asking rs610 something but i managed to bargain it for 400 and another rs 1200 helmet for free .
Don't be Sad about people,They'll die anyway!

Don't worry buddy.. I think 3Ah should be enough for moderate usage... I think even CBR 150R has 3.5 Ah battery but has 60/55w stock headlight bulb... If that battery can handle the load, then this on e too should be take the load...
