Well the pilot sporty used to be good, imported from Thailand. Now they manufacture it here, and they screwed up the compound.Originally posted by iamkrazee View Post
About bikes, I recently got a Sirac Street. It is a humble tyre, nice bang for the buck.
Actually I'm using CB Hornet 160R, which comes with this as stock. I'm quite happy with the performance. By the looks of dimensions below the saddle, I bet they could have fit a 160/60 17 in there but it would cost a bomb. So I suppose Zapper S1 is a good VFM option.
For the hornet pilot street is the best replacement option I feel. 150/60 is very much possible (in fact I know a guy who has fitted pilot street 150/60), and it won't reduce acceleration as much as a 160/60.

Anyone managed to add some storage to the bike without spoiling the aesthetics?
I've seen people hanging shopping bags on the pillion grab rail, not sure if it's stable though.Invitation link to join Zurker Beta, "A social network which you can own"

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Wasn't there a problem with hornet chain sprocket in many bikes? I feel it's a flaw in the bike as the sprocket is not able handle the bigger tyre , I'd say it's better off with a 140/60 section of the gixxersOriginally posted by Shashank K R View PostWell the pilot sporty used to be good, imported from Thailand. It seems it gets loose frequently for some people. They've provided a regular chain for that heavy tyre also.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostWasn't there a problem with hornet chain sprocket in many bikes? I've been running this pilot street setup for 4000kms now, I didn't have to get the chain tightened even once (barring free services).Last edited by Shashank K R; 04-01-2017, 03:22 PM.

Mine charged Rs.200 at 1st service. But its your decision, if yo want them to lube they'll lube but charges applicable as same.Originally posted by Rashid View PostIs charging rupees 230 for chain cleaning and lubing acceptable for first free service?
Buy a motul c2 chain cleaner (Rs.500+). Saves money.
From 2nd service, just tell them to clean the chain only while washing the bike. After service, get back home and put ur bike on centerstand, start n shift to 1st gear. And spray one or two round on the chain.
Clean n Respray after every 500kms (follow youtube video)
More than 10 times u can lube with 1 bottle of Rs.500.
For info, check "chain cleaning and lubing gixxer" video on youtube. Just do the lubing part only if washed n cleaned from svc.Last edited by presidency; 04-06-2017, 11:23 AM.

Yes, I'm going to do that from now onwards, called customer care to find out whether there is any standard rate for chain cleaning and lubing, the lady was totally clueless and couldn't provide an email id for escalating query.Originally posted by presidency View PostMine charged Rs.200 at 1st service. On a side note, is lubing the chain worth the time and effort? How much does an entire chain kit cost? I replaced my Slingshot chain set at 800 + labour, I guess it shouldn't cost more than 1600 for Gixxer.
Another thing I hope some one can help me is regarding the headlight,it is very weak for highway use, but one thing I noticed is if i balance the switch between high and low beam, both beams lights up at the same time and there is no reduction in luminance, does that mean it can take a 55 watt bulb without any issue?, Can anyone report a long-term experience on 55watts? There is a useless pilot lamp with I don't mind getting rid of.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer 155
Periodic Cleaning and Lubrication is necessary to maintain the life of the chain. If not lubricated, there will be heat generation causing quick elongation, rattling sound, effect mileage, and yo'll have to end up replacing the chain before time. Its the only maintainence i do on my bike, what most bikers do and hope yo'll do if yo love your bike. If yo dont hav time, get it done from svc if yo'r willing to spend some cash. Now coming to headlight, its a real bummer. 35w 12v headlamp providing low visibility and a underpowered battery. Yo could use a 55 or even a 60w lamps, projectors or halogens but it will take a toll on your battery in future minimizing its lifespan.
😔Now theres also a govt. rule being issued of keeping headlights on during the daylight also. So it will suck a lot of blood off ur battery
Many gixxer owners are using these lightings and no doubt, theres huge improvement, and theses no visible effects on battery at the very moment. Yo cud use one but i wont recommend. I would recommend mounting led light mountings of sqme wattage.
Yo cud also use philips xtreme vision bluish white lights too if theres no issue with the police.
