For the tight chain you can adjust the slack should be between 20 to 30mm , make sure to measure it with wheel on ground or bike on the paddock stand(swingarm should bear the weight of the motorcycle) keep it straight as possible.

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
Sprocket rubber lining or seal doesn't get lose it is the slider which got dislodged due to slapping chain and causes all the damage, make sure you have the slider lock on. For the noise open the front sprokect cover and clean the muck deposit around it using a cloth over a screwdriver.Originally posted by arya809 View Post

On the topic of chain adjustment:
Last week I was getting constant squeaking noise from the rear left section. I couldn't find out the source on my own, went to SVC, the mechanic took a test ride and told me that chain is too dry & loose. He sprayed it and tightened it. I didn't verify the tightness but the sound was gone. Today the squeaking sound started but was very faint. So I checked the chain SLACK casually and it was TOO TIGHT! Not even 2 mm slack. Bajaj mechanics are complete noobs, I won't trust them with a single thing from now on.
Meanwhile, can you guess the source of squeaking? It presents only under acceleration, irrespective of speed and gearing. Someone had mentioned on this thread that their front sprocket had a rubber lining dislodged and rubbing against chain, I checked the front sprocket, that's not the case.

I saw the rpm variation on the console at the service centre during the 3rd free service. I Will surely be careful if doing chain cleaning at home. Thank you.Originally posted by Ijs View PostP1, yes this much is ok in first gear without touching the throttle. I am a new user on xbhp. I own a dominar 400 2019 bike. It has completed 1 year of running. Can I get some help on the following issues/things I have noticed recently on my dominar.
1. RPM Fluctuation - how much rpm variation is ok at idle. I feel the RPM Fluctuation is noticeable. If put on a paddock stand and 1st gear engaged the speed varies from 8kmph to 11kmph. Is this normal?
2. Fuel Tank range - From past 4 , full tank , my km range is not going above 350 - 360 Kms. Earlier on full tank I was getting a Range between 395km to 411km. What could be the issue.
3. I asked the service centre to update my speed console , so that I can get the gear indicator on the primary console. Is this update stable? Or I should not get it done?
Thanks
Jayant

Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread
I can comment with the experience I've had with the same tire on another bike. Revz is a radial tire and lasts upto 20k easily. Tire life mostly depends on how well one monitors the tire pressure and the way and the road one rides frequently. RevZ is a great tire and offers great dry and decent wet grip.Originally posted by kp4144 View PostHi guys,
Can anyone tell me what the approx tyre life of the stock tyres is? (MRF REVZ 150/60-R17)
Also is changing the tyre to a slightly off-road biased one compromise the road grip of the tyre? I am currently using the stock tyres with 5.5k km on the odo, and I am very happy with the grip and driving confidence they offer on road. But my commute has parts where roads are suboptimal, and I feel the rear tyre slipping on dirt and mud.
Cheers!

I guess stock crash guard is a better location for it? But it's too low for proper road illumination, that's why I would prefer to install it higher up, on the radiator cover. However, I don't wish to install it near the headlights, I know there are special mounts available for that. But that seems risky as it will attract the attention of traffic cops easily.
@Parmanu
I hope you know that Warranty is rendered void if it's not serviced regularly as per the interval. You could have simply sent the keys to a friend via trusted couriers like Fedex etc. Even if warranty doesn't matter, you should parcel the keys anyways because you won't be going back to Bangalore for at least 3-4 months (wild guess based on covid conditions and companies keeping offices closed). AFAIK, you don't need to worry about rusting but it's better to keep it in running condition. Also send your friend to get the 3rd servicing done ASAP.
In my case, Bajaj has officially postponed my 2nd free service's last date by 2 months, maybe you still have time left, just call up the service center at your regular SVC to know the last date.
UPDATE:
Installed the aux fog lights on the crash guard, there are 2 lights on each side, my guess would be around 10-15 watts each. Will measure the exact amperage in the evening.
INCIDENT: Front brake went LIMP momentarily! Yesterday evening, I went out on a short trip and stopped at 3 shops for some stuff. After the 2nd stop, turned on the fog lamps immediately after starting the engine and started driving. After around 400 meters, wanted to brake lightly for a pothole BUT the front brake lever went limp and came too close to the accelerator, as if there's no brake fluid, for a micro second, then came back to life with full force and stopped on the spot with a jerk due to speed being already low.
What could have caused that? My guess: Battery went slightly low due to constant fog light usage and ABS couldn't get enough juice?
Small update of AUX lights to be installed on radiator side was there was reduced vibration there and as crash guards are directly connected near engine vibration will be high.
Working on ABS requires juice but not working of brake. I mean there will be brake fluid which pushes the power when lever engaged and ABS controls the byte ON-OFF, Thus lever going limp will no where be connected to ABS is my understanding.

Bike is well covered and protected. Just worried about the mechanical bit. Plus the keys are with me.

Yes. There are some areas of concern like drained battery, rusted chain, tyres losing pressure, fuel going bad and overall dirtiness. If possible, contact a trusted friend or colleague who can ride the bike once a week and have them cover up the bike later. That's more than enough.Originally posted by Parmanu View PostHey fellow BHPians. I need some advise. My dominar is parked in my apartment parking safely for the past two months I Bangalore.
