That is something i'm experimenting on, my bike is july 2018 model. and i'm not applying any kind of polish/protection on rear fender since day 1. while i do it for other parts. bike stays in open sunlight for atleast 4-6 hours a day and so far there's zero difference in color or finish of that part compared to other parts where i do apply dashboard polish every month. will see how long it lasts. as far painted metal parts i already explained why it is happening.




Those are the same as before for fz25 atleast where i live. anyway i service my bike myself so its irrelevant for me. i only took the bike svc for first 3 free services. and since last year i'm doing it myself.


warranty replacements are hit and miss, i have seen companies denying it even if you follow their rules, and sometimes they honor it even if said part is out of coverage. it all depends on your svc's goodwill. so better to save on labor charges and keep that money aside if something needs replacement. for accidents there insurance anyway.

Guys....does the rattling noise in the fz is rectified in bs6 version? My friend planning to buy this one! Does anyone know about this?

They did change some parts in bs6 but i'm not sure if noise is gone (i really doubt they will remove that noise).

Sorry to barge in, but I have seen and sort of compared the quality of plastics between the bikes. I have friends owning a black 2011 R15 v2, 2019 R15 V3 and a black 2017 FZ25.

The plastics definitely feel thinner and "cheaper" on the newer bikes. It feels somewhat flimsy when tapped, unlike the 2011 V2 which feels solid. Also, the V2 (even though abused over the years) has no rattles and has negligible squeaks. The newer bikes already have cracked plastics and are broken at 1-2 places (this can be caused by screw overtightening by the SVCs, but the same SVCs also serviced the 2011 R15). They also creak/squeak and have much more flex (flex is fine though).

The paint on my friend's FZ25 has faded quite quickly even though he washes and waxes it often. The paint on the R15 V2 still looks very good (ignoring the tank since it is metal). So yes, the paint quality is also lower.

Even comparing the plastics to my previous bike Gixxer or my friend's RTR, it feels cheap. The plastics on those bikes are solid and quality feels good. Meanwhile, on my FZ, at some places the plastic has already cracked and the flex/creak a lot.

I'm not saying they're too flimsy and weak. They're strong enough and do the job, but the feel is completely different.

Spares (such as oil/air filters, clutch plates, engine parts, chain/sprockets) on the other hand are fine. There's nothing much to complain about.

That's a better explanation. now time to do some experiments. will post bi-monthly results. i'm really interested in killing this myth ( if you can call it). don't have anything better to do anyway .


anyway so far in my experience, those older thick plastics were actually less durable. although their surface finish was better (kinda more satin vs abrasive matt) hence people mistook for better quality. i periodically visit tvs/bajaj/yamaha svc for consumables and what i have observed is - those older Yamahas and newer tvs bikes have the most broken black plastics. bajaj and newer Yamahas don't have this issue. biggest reason is hardness. harder plastic breaks easily and softer plastic scratches/bends easily and doesn't break. but still my sample size is not big enough to draw definitive conclusions. afterall every bike gets different treatment and care so it depends on that too.

But I will add this though, the 2011 V2 went through 3 accidents and the plastics survived (didn't really break). My Gixxer plastics never cracked or broke with a couple of accidents and thousands of potholes. Again this is a miniscule sample size, so what you said maybe correct.

My FZ25's plastics cracked/broke relatively easily lol. I wouldn't say the old bikes plastics had no flex at all. They had flex but were thicker. IMO Yamaha did it to reduce weight and cost. It maybe just me, but the older bikes felt better put together than these newer ones.

sure, i'm not saying older plastics are bad. but what i have observed is opposite. heck even when i had an accident on fz25 last year, only thing broke was leg guard. all plastics survived with just scratches which was unexpected.

will be using rear mudguard or tank area small plastics for experiment. will throw same usage and care and see which one cracks/breaks/fades first.(15v1/v2/v3/fzv1/v2/v3/rtr200/dom400/fz25) let me know if you want other bikes too. but part should be cheap .

will see how it goes. these kind of things should be done by reviewers who make money from this. but expecting anything from those spec sheet blabbers are too much i guess.

there are some other things i also want to experiment but too poor for it.

What i did was add 2 layers of electrical tape on the outside of LH rubber mount, and it resulted in snug fit. In my case LH rubber mount was the culprit

In my case also the left hand side rubber damper is the culprit. I hope to rectify it when I get optimal condition(s). First, I will replace the dampers with the ones I have already purchased.

Yes 2 layers of tape on this new damper will change the way the headlights move, I tried replacing just without tape and there was no difference. to replace this you have to loosen and lift the top Yoke. These dampers are pretty low in cost 4rs!

Had been on a ride of 1500kms maintaining social distancing whenever possible.

Here are my observations on Liquimoly street 10w40

Engine feels eager to rev, gear shifting has improved a lot, also exhaust note has reduced a little.

These are my observations when compared to 4k kms run yamalube

I've observed a slow oil leak from the drain bolt. But no matter what kept an eye on the oil level which was way above the oil level indicator each time I checked.( And yes I've checked the oil level as mentioned in the manual)

So iam thinking to fill it with 1.3l( i hope oil leak stops near the drain bolt) for the next oil change as the oil level on the dipstick is way above the recommended level.
