hello guys, i recently bought abs to rear calipar brake hose pipe of d390 to fit it on fz25, but unfortunately it's 2cm short so pretty much useless for me. it's unused with washers and bolts. if someone needs it, please let me know. it could help me recover some money i wasted. thanks

    part number - 36JP0014.

Should i replace both the front and rear brake pads together ? I will post pics for the front brake pads as well.

So to re-confirm you are suggesting to go for

front pads = current 2018/19 Duke sintered ones
rear pads = current gen normal ones.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

My bike is November 2018 model, but it seems that it was actually 2019 model as the rear grab handles were the new design ones as found on the current 2019 model.

    Thank you.
Yup, as I stated earlier, replace your rear brake pads, they are almost down to nothing. If yours is post 2016 and the newer one with TFT, then don't bother, your bike already has the newer sintered pads on the front. For the rear, get the OE one that's best. Make sure your bleed your rear brake before installing the new pads. Also, get your brake pedal free play adjusted if you're constantly and unknowingly always on the rear pedal.

    Good luck.

    Cheers!

I got the mushroom puncture at the MRF showroom near to marathalli bridge. Its pretty near to the KTM Marathalli showroom on the opposite side.
Cost is 250 rs compared to the 100 rs of the normal puncture fixing.
Your pads are still in place, only that it's worn out 100% and metal face plate is in contact with the discs (which is bad for the disc plate).

Again brake wear depends on how you use it, some people have a tendency to rest their foot very lightly on the rear brake foot rest and brake lever, even a light pressure is sensitive enough to have the rear brake engaged by 5-10% always.

Try to not rest the toe on your rear brake lever.

P.S. Thanks for the location of the puncture place.

brake pad wear totally depends on use, 9k km is a bit on the lower side if you are a sane rider and use proper braking technique.
only a picture will let us know what is happening. the factory recommended spec is minimum 1mm pad material anything lesser and you are due for a replacement.

Please find the pictures below. I am 70 percent sane ride with occasional 30 percent pushing the limits.
I dont know but the images are getting flipped. May be its the aspect ratio issue of the pictures.

That said 9000 kms brake wear off is OK and normal for rear brakes(organic pads, not sinterted ones), my rear pads barely last 7000-8000 kms.
Again it depends how often one uses the rear brakes, during most of my bumper to bumper traffic commute I tend to use more of rear brakes.

P.S. Where did you get the mushroom puncture done in Bangalore for bikes?

You can stick to stock or upgrade to EBC pads, but I will tell you, you won't have that initial bite on EBC rear pads, they lack that and also take some time get that feel and feedback. I'd suggest you stick to stock, it's cheap and effective.

Yes, the rear brakes are not the best in the world in the D390, but it does do the job for the most part. I'd suggest you replace your front and rear brake pads to that of the current 2018/19 Duke sintered front pads, they offer excellent stopping power and feedback, light years ahead from my old 2016 Duke 390 brakes. Also use the rear brake pads of the current gen.

    Cheers!

Is 9000 kms normal distance for Duke 390's brake pads to wear off, or have they fallen off.?

Because couple of weeks back I had to get the rear wheel off to fix a mushroom puncture and the puncture guy had some difficulty in fitting it back.

Indeed if the pads are worn off and have to be replaced, should i go ahead with the company ones or any other brand. Please suggest. As I have always felt that the rear brakes are nowhere near the front brakes on my bike.

If they allow you to ride from the godown to the showroom, then go ahead and get it yourself. But, most of the time, they bring the bike themselves from another showroom or also known as godown, so it can be tricky. Insist with the showroom guys that you would ride it from the godown with a showroom boy sitting behind for safety, just work your luck.

I got the new government number plate with hologram etc from RTO its garbage metal number plate.
The problem is that over the time screws holding it become loose and the number plate buzzes alot. I tried couple of things like adding small rubber in between number plate and number plate holder it was fine for couple of weeks now its back.
Wondering if you guys have any permanent solution.

If your number plate screws/bolts are undoing. Use Loctite and Anabond thread locker. Also make sure you use double sided tape between the bracket holder and the number plate, use little Anabond thread locker and torque it well and let it set, your bolts/screws won't undo.

Yup, don't mention it. Usually the starter relay nuts is torqued by the SVC at times, in case of new bike, when they install the battery and the likes. If they were lax and haven't torqued it well, it will over time slowly undo, not the fault of the bike though.

Little did i know within a week of saying all is good with the bike, I will be writing this post on the issue i am suddenly facing from yesterday evening.

So here goes what all happened till now. I am not able to still pin point the issue, so stuck on what should i do next.

Yesterday evening the bike refused to crank and start. I turn the key, the console lights up, turn off the kill switch , i can hear the fuel pump turning now.
Then when I press the ignition button to start the bike, I just hear a click sound and nothing. The bike doesn't crank at all.
Tried couple of times. No errors on the console. Battery is showing 12.4 volts and all good. DRLs are on. Finally I thought its getting late. So i jump started the bike with help of my friend by pushing it down a slope and putting it in 1st gear. The bike turned on and all was good.

I came home, switched it off and tried turning it ON again. Same problem, fuel pump and console all fine, but only a click (kind of a relay switch sound) when i press the ignition button
Left it the night and thought will take it to Service center in the morning.
In the morning today , i tried to turn it on again, but again same issue. Jump started it and came to office and my bike documents were in my office drawer.
As soon as ireached office, in the parking i tried once again to start the bike after turning it off and it came on.

So now I m in confusion like why didn't it turn on yesterday night after i reached home and tried to turn it on.
    Is it some loose contact.
