He claims that there was no heavy rain.
There's definitely got to be problem with the one touch start system, as this being a new feature. The waterlogged ECU going haywire due to water ingress on the BUS terminals, could, again be another tickle point. But, would be interesting to see how this might turn out.

I got my Duke 390 on14 June 2017, riding experience is awesome as I moved from Bajaj 200 NS. But I am facing electrical issue in my bike where in the bike gets completely off sometimes when I press start button, it was really frustrating when I had this in a peak traffic.when ever this issue occurs I check the fuse and press / replace with spair if all the fuse are proper and this works.
Does anyone facing the same issue?
    Any suggestions please !!!
Check your fuses box and also check the battery terminal lugs. See, if they have any slack, battery terminals should be tight and snug, there shouldn't be any play whatsoever. A loose terminal would lead to stalls, like the one you mentioned and can blow fuses given any contact with the body, especially if the positive lead grounds with the body. Start with your battery terminal lugs, and then proceed with the fuse box and check all the individual fuses thoroughly if they are a loose fit in any case (which is highly unlikely, but nonetheless a thorough investigation would be advised)

Check the battery terminal lugs, check all the fuses, and report your observations here.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Not yet. They fit fine. But viaterra is designing a new one for the bike only. So yeah. You will get a 390 excluding bag.

"We made a bit of dust"

2nd off road test for Duke 390.
This, time more serious with elements of hardcore.
Suspension travel is too short, but we know that, because it is not dirt bike, it is street bike.
If you go for off roading watch bolts which hold rear mudguard.
I lost one screw and I tightened the screws two times during an hour. They became lose after rumble-tumble.
It is construction/engineering failure. There should be spring washer i guess.
Well, and original KTM L Hex Key from Duke's tools is very poor quality, It doesn't fit well. It was very hard to tight.
My Timsun tyres are very sweet.
Handle bar must be much higher to ride on foot pegs. With original ones 6 feet tall guy can not ride.

You can not see much of Duke in this video because i was on it and I was filming most of videos included. I did the same. It is a lot of fun to ride on rocks, but i was worry about plastic skid plate which I will replace to metal ASAP.

They told four wheels were better then two.
            So, I bought another motorcycle!

Why do you guys buy a street naked and modify it into an off-roader,, instead of buying the same??
By the way I am a Duke owner ...

                      Impulse was better than Himalayan..
I was telling about some people who are complaining about the build quality of Duke 390.
It isn't supposed to be ridden off-road..

I used to ride in Sri Lanka Honda XR250. It is decent bike, i did even some hard core where impulse will never could go. I don't know about himalayan. i think it will fall apart in the middle of the road. So, unfortunately no options in India if you have not money to by Africa Twin

TBH, when I rode the Himalayan, it's perfect for offroading, little heavy unfortunately, but it's a great tool.. yes, the Duke isn't meant for offroading, but with proper mods, it can be simply because of the capable engine and loads of torque & power at low & mid range.. also cheap to maintain...

Himalayan is great in it's own sense.. after sales of RE is ruining it..

                            Rant time.

I know ktm people read these pages and this post is meant as a feedback to ktm. So you can freely skip this post if not interested. I am looking at an upgrade to nearly 7 yr old R15. Only bikes that come to my mind are duke range. Japanese options are too expensive and would like to try European flavour. Am thoroughly impressed by duke twins and would like to purchase one of the two preferably 390. however am finding impossible to open my wallet for silly and minor reasons that i feel ktm should sort out asap. i will individually tackle both the models.

duke 390: my first choice. but as i have mentioned few times in this thread, i live in theft prone area. bike parked next to mine have been stolen once. i chain my bike so its relatively safe. but that lcd cluster will be stolen most likely. its covered in insurance but that involves filing fir. i can imagine hilarity that will ensue once i go for lodging complaint:

me: lcd panel of my bike was stolen
cop: your what of your bike was stolen?
                            me: lcd panel
cop: but bikes dont have lcd panel
                            me: mine has
cop: why did you modified it?
                            me: its standard fitment.
cop: never seen one. dont believe you.

Anyways coming to duke 250: frankly i dont mind its supposed high price to power ratio. my r15 has a pretty bad price to power ratio as well. but overall sharpness of package is reason i want a similar bike. then duke is more comfy and good for long rides as well. its sort of very nice package. a little overpriced but i am willing to pay.

however once you do more research some baffling decisions come to forefront. it has some problems in electricals. also you have to blip the throttle while pulling in the clutch or it can stall. it over heats much more than other 250s. then there is fuel efficiency that is in 28-30 kpl range.
get the idea? its very similar to duke 390 in terms of problems. on further research i found out the base design of both 250 and 390 engine are same.

which means power close to duke 200 while problems and niggles close to 390. and price close to 390 as well while lacking its gadgets. need i go on? niggles are ok on 390 cause its offering you super bike performance. but sort of unacceptable on 250.

anyways overall am interested in purchase one of these 2 dukes but finding hard to give nod to one. to solve this problem ktm should asap make lcd panel of 390 optional. i will pay same price for a bike with 250 display.

You can also take a look at FZ25 as it is also worthy contender if you are considering Duke 250 and you will also save some bucks or you can also see Dominar400.

I agree the 250 may not be a vfm proposition for everyone. It uses most of the parts from the 390 and ktm itself says so too. Ktm just threw in another option for the masses.. probably the bajaj effect (see the number of variants of discovers, pulsars!!). good move imo, considering they export these too.
The other companies need to take a leaf out of bajaj's strategy if the want to launch performance motorcycles in India at a good price point !!

                                Now coming to your 'rant':

How many peoples console has been stolen so far ? How many cases have you heard of so far ?
What makes you think the old gen console will not be stolen ? It is also expensive (6k), and pretty easy to take off.
A thief stealing a console (never heard of it happen) will do it to make a quick buck and not necessarily because it is more 'fancier'.

                                You are just being paranoid
What you can do is use an alarm system like the Xena disc lock and keep your bike covered. If somebody tries to touch/move your bike it will create a racket so loud the thief will probably abandon his plans.
Or maybe you can weld the nut down to it's clamp where it's bolted on?

And no ktm will never put the old console back on the new 390.. forget it. Pick up the rc390 if you want the old console + 390 combo.
