    Hello guys
Its been three days since I have had the bike and I have done about 70km. I've started to notice some noise from near the handle bar/console. Seems like sound of some rubber pipe/object rubbing against each other. Its audible even when the bike is off and the handle bar is moved and translates to a very slight rattle while riding.
Has anyone else experienced this or know what causes this sound?

Probably the number plate? Put the bike in stand and rev till you hear the sound and the try to pin point the sound source.

This is most likely your wiring harness pipe which rubs against the frame in some bikes. Do this, sit on the bike, hold the wiring pipe behind the Headlamp on the left and try moving the handlebar.

Tried out the 2017 Duke 390, liked the improvements they made over the previous model, liked their finance options, liked their exchange offer for my old bike. Managed to pick it up the day-before-yesterday from KTM Indiranagar right before they closed (Thanks Naveen from KTM for staying later than usual). Wanted to do an intensive test of the bike. Decided to do a semi-motoman style run-in. Took it to my hometown (Mangalore), changed the oil and oil filter at around 400Kms, roamed around a bit and brought it back today morning for the first 1K service.

Agree with the points, its definitely tamer than the older hool. Which tank bag are you using in the pics btw, could not figure out the brand, I was checking the Gods Zeon R2 but wasnt sure how good a magnetic tank would fit given the weird and slant shape of the tank, prefer the flatter older style over this any day. Good day!

P.S. Always remove excess text and ALL PICS before quoting any post with pictures.

Got it free with a pair of riding boots. Not really sure about the brand. Decent quality, grips the tank during general riding but moves around during bumps. No scary moments yet with it.

Made it to 165. Guess you could probably do 170 on a downhill. Don't think it'll go much further than that.

2wice, can you expand upon which brand footwear you purchased, so that we know which company offered a freebie for a pair of boots. I'm sure most here would love to get a tankbag for a pair of boots.

You can get some made of light polyester based materials from eBay, or you can head to KTM showroom and get one. Though they aren't that great (any cover for that matter) at least it adds bling. They are decent enough.

                              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Update: Did a quick ride to MM hills on Sunday. About 450 kms round. Blore-Mandya-MM Hills-bypass Salem-Blore.

Mandya to MM Hills was pretty good, but the descent from MM hills towards Salem was just amazing. Fantastic Roads! Reached the Salem-Bangalore highway and stopped for Fuel. Switched on the bike after refuelling and saw that the Engine temperature was almost Max. Started moving again to cool it off and the temp quickly came back to normal. The fan was on the entire way back though. However, once the bike reached the traffic of Bangalore, the temp just wouldn't go down again even with the fan on. Weird, since coolant levels looked fine. Eventually displayed the 'High Engine Temp' warning message. Switched off the bike for a while to cool the engine. Had to keep doing this every few mins in traffic as the bike just couldn't regulate its temperature.

Took it to the SVC today. Turns out the coolant valve, that controls the amount of coolant flowing through the system, wasn't functioning. So the radiator was pretty much doing nothing while the fan did its absolute best to cool the outside of the engine (which was more or less a lost cause). Got the part replaced under warranty.

If anyone is ever in a situation like this or a similar situation (i.e. you ran out of coolant), your best bet is to keep moving while keeping an eye on the gauge. Avoid traffic or slowing down until you can reach a location where you can fix the situation. Large volumes of air passing over the engine, while probably not as effective as a functioning liquid cooling system, can still keep temperatures at safe levels. If the temperature still isn't going down, its time to stop. Even though the bike is set to auto switch off incase of high temperatures, wouldn't recommend pushing it that far.

Sure! Bought a pair of Forma Adventure Boots. Saw it reviewed on Overdrive. Researched a bit. Found out that it had great reviews across the board. Bought it from here: Motardinn.com

They have pretty great prices. Got the tank bag from them. Ended up also buying a 1.5 litre CamelBak Hydration bag, a Buff Scarf and a Gore-Tex base layer (would highly recommend the base layer). Takes about 3 weeks to deliver from Spain. Custom duties will screw you over a bit, but overall still a good price.
