Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Almost all very soft compound tires are prone to getting punctured, especially the Metz. Soft offroading in slush to light off-roading can be done with cautiousness on the Metz. Hardcore offoading and you run the risk of damaging the tire and the rim for that matter. Jittery moments are almost present in all vehicles, tires, it all depends on the situation, panic braking, road conditions and what not.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Posthow good are tires on duke? are they prone to puncture like most soft compound tires?
also how is the grip? are there any jittery moments?
The lube that comes from factory that is white are called dry lubes, they are similar to candlewax type lubes, which are white in color. They prevent excessive splashing of the lube if any and provide a clear coat on the chain surface. Though they are extremely stubborn to clean, once they get dirty. Wet lubes or liquid lubes are always preferred when it comes to chain lubing, for ease of cleaning and lubing.Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View PostThe grips are pretty good.. wet grip is also good.. jittery moments?? not sure.. puncture - never had any touchwood.. don't want also...
Also, our chain comes lubricated by some kind of "wax" type of lube.. any idea what that is???? it's been almost 600 KMs and I don't see the lube going off.. will check again tomorrow...
Cheers!

that's how the new chains come.. they use a wax/grease type of lube. even on the earlier ktm's.Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View PostAlso, our chain comes lubricated by some kind of "wax" type of lube.. any idea what that is???? it's been almost 600 KMs and I don't see the lube going off.. will check again tomorrow...
the purpose of lubing the chain is to keep the rubber o rings 'wet' and to also reduce overall rolling friction. you can simply apply your regular lube/gear oil over the chain. this wax type lube stays on longer (and also one reason why i use a grease spray when riding in the wet.. lasts much longer with almost not fling off/mess)

Can you post some detailed pictures of the tire that you've replaced, the TimSun tires, would be very much appreciated if you can post some good quality pics and detailed review of the tire and it's performance, and sizes available if any that you know of.Originally posted by Aigars View PostDirt forever!

Well, I had no option because I was on a ride. I made 1.4K in one week.Originally posted by srisathiyan89 View PostThey allowed to do first service after 1400kms??? not clash with 45 days or 1000 kms as per manual??

I bought bike quite far from home, but serviced on Mekhri circle KTM.
They didn't tell me anything about 1.4K km.
I haven't any issue with bike till 1st service, so I think service was ok. I paid approx 1.9K
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
I didn't push hard bike till 1st service.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostCan you post some detailed pictures of the tire that you've replaced, the TimSun tires, would be very much appreciated if you can post some good quality pics and detailed review of the tire and it's performance, and sizes available if any that you know of.

I tested on rocks, sand, dirt etc, except mud. They are ok. I can not compare with original ones, never ride.
I have Michelin Sirac on my Yamaha SZ, they are very similar and are very good.
On Bonneville i did quite a lot of offroading with stock Metz tyres. Was ok except mud.
Didn't had any ride after service. Will go next week for offroad. Then will see.

Instead of posting open invitation, its better to keep it close and few people can accept on request to keep the group clean.Originally posted by Ajay Vishwanath View PostMods please remove that link.
