No offence bro, but I thought i was one such who is deciding on a bike (2017 390 & r3) without finalising the budget. You have done super research where budgets are 3 times [emoji15]

True prashnagpal I would ideally like to buy a middle weight preferably a second hand in good condition as that's is what I can afford now.. Or I will sell my NS 200 and go for 2017 Duke 390 or R3
      Ride HARD but Ride SAFE

What you are telling is correct.. I bought 300 V and kept .. not sure.. what to do with it.. may be after first service.. and after odo crossing 4k i myself will change and use it..

Also Please help me with the below

I was riding in around 80-100 KMPH today in city roads and suddenly i had to apply brake.. with little pressure in back brake and handful of front brake..

Its not panic braking but kind of sudden brake than my usual progressive braking.

Then i felt like front brake lost the bite.. as if there are no brake pads.. i lost the feel of the brake.. it was giving kreech sound and Tak sound with kind of jerk in the end as if some oil applied to the brake pads/disk.

Noticed 2 3 times by trying again and again..

is it due to ABS kicking in early??

It only happens when riding above 75kmph.. any sudden brake below that seems normal to me..

I never felt the same in 2016 duke 390.. I never went to situation where ABS kicked in my old bike..even with hard braking above 75kmph.

If you feel intermittent braking, like it brakes and then you feel no brake feedback followed by tat tak tak sound and mild vibration at the brake lever and the foot pedal that's the ABS kicking in that's how ABS works in our motorcycles. But you shouldn't hear the brakes squeal when applying brakes or during ABS operation. Try this, go over 20 plus kmph over gravel and try applying rear brakes and observe if the rear brake pedal flutters or make tak tak tak sound, follow the same with a little slower speed with the front brake, and see if the braking is fine. Again, if you feel the front brake lever lightly flutter and brake with gaps like, it brakes and then no feel and then brakes, and then no feel that's the ABS kicking in.

        Cheers!
        VJ
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Got this done at HTRZ modz in bangalore. And it is handle bar supported along with main joint being the number plate holder.

Some more pics. I've removed the shield right now, if some one here is interested in it, let me know. It costed me about 3k with the mounts/welds and is used only for a few days.

The stock crash guard is pretty good in itself. It is soft enough to deform and take the impact (and very cheap to replace) without causing frame damage.
This engine protection guard that you posted I think is made by a company called GA Engineering (mumbai). Am not sure if this is going to be soft enough to deform without transferring the force to the frame, resulting in frame damage. So essentially you might end up spending more.
You'd be surprised to know the cost of a 390 frame (the old one was around Rs.8000) and I hope the new one (since it's a two piece unit) should cost you lesser depending on what part of the frame gets damaged during a crash.
And trust me, I've seen tons of crashed/fallen dukes with their stock crash guard and 90% of them escape without the need for a frame replacement.. the stock crash guard/handlebar and levers absorb most of the impact.

So if you are someone who uses the bike normally (i.e. not a stunt freak) then the stock crash guard is more than sufficient both from a protection and cost point of view. That's just my take on such stuff that in most cases is just unnecessary.. don't fall for some 'expert' running around with a camera reviewing these accessories. I look at practicality & price more than the bling or bragging factor.

                  2) as for handlebar risers, contact viaterra.. they have a set of risers that work on the previous gen dukes without requiring longer cables. they should be able to clarify if their risers will suit the new 390.
Thanks for the response Sid. My major usage will be daily commute and touring so was looking for that particular crash guard. My intention to get that crash guard was during tours even if the bike falls it should keep the rear brake and gear shift lever safe so I can still continue at least to nearest SVC but as you mentioned depending on the impact it may damage the frame too. Or I guess for some time I will have the factory fitted crash guard itself.
For the risers I did go and meet Viaterra guys where we found the issue with cable length. Hope some work around comes up to at least raise the handle bar by 1 inch.

Another update, yesterday night I got the ECU failure warning and it went away in 5 seconds after which the fuel pump sound came and I was able to start the bike.

The gap between the windshield and the headlamp is more. This will not give much benefit in aerodynamic. Try sometime which is more flushed with the headlamp.

is it mounted on the handlebars??

Carrying a set of levers is not going to take much space . I always keep a set of levers in my bag on tours and it did help once when a fellow rider crashed (the crash guard took the impact along with a broken rear brake lever. the bolts used on the crash guard are pretty soft and easily snap off and the crash guard also deforms easily.. this helps absorb a good amount of impact.) This guy has shorty brake & clutch levers and hence they escaped damage, and the handle bar was also in tact. This was a low speed crash (at around 45kmph ran in to a cyclist crossing the road)

I see that you are from Hyderabad (din't notice it earlier).. keep in touch with viaterra or maybe indimotard (based in bangalore iirc) for the risers.. they might come up with a solution (longer cables). Just curious, did the risers cause issues with the ride by wire wiring or just the clutch/brake line lengths ?
Who knows, maybe after riding a couple thousand km, you might get comfortable with the stock handle bar/seat positioning! Give your body sometime to get adjusted to the new riding position.

Any one with height of approx 5'3 owning D390? If yes then is he/she facing any difficulty like tip toeing or something like that?

Hi, I am 5'8ish. Have been riding RTR 160 for quite some time and didn't have an issue. Switched to Duke 390 2017 just last Sunday.
For anyone less than 5'6 or 5'5 i guess it's going to be on a more uncomfortable side. Red lights and stand still would still be manageable but "U" turns and parking and un-parking from is going to be a challenge. Even for me, when I sit at the higher end(backwards) of the seat i sometimes find myself tip-toeing.

But, don't forget to give it a test ride. 1 might end up having longer legs and lesser height overall. Even if you are able to put 1 foot down completely and comfortably, you should definitely give it a shot.
