argued for a while and they told they charged only a minimal amount . mainly it is the 25+ minor parts plus Engine oil and coolant.

Labour was 850 rs.

checked with the mechanic and learnt that they had to open the full engine and changed most of the necessary small components oil seal pump seal water seal gasket , sensors , sealant etc.. and said you should not have any issue further.

labour change alone for full engine service is 3500 ,since mine was in warranty they charged minimal amount 850 it seems.

Finally after arguing i had paid 3950 and took my bike back..
If work was done under warranty, you would have had to pay only for the fluids (i.e. oil and coolant).
Labor and parts should be free irrespective of whether it is one part or 25 parts.
do you have the bill with you ? , if so please post a pic of it.

For the Coolant leakage issue, I had got the service done from here in bangalore at Indiranagar, they neither charged me for the the labour nor the parts. I suggest you take it up with KTM directly if possible. U shouldn't be paying for the manufacturing defect especially for the labour.

Max you should have paid was 2000, for fluids and the filters(air/fuel/oil).
4k was definitely too much.. but if you are ok with it then don't worry about it.

The reason is, unless one happens to spot a defect from the showroom itself, then you're fine, the bike will be entertained a warranty, any part for that matter. Once out of the showroom, damaged rim or broken rim will always fall under the goodwill of the SVC, if they're lenient they can push it under warranty stating a defect. But as you know unlike en engine part which has failed, which can be claimed and replaced under warranty, claiming a wheel under warranty is a little tricky as all the odds are against the user.

It's best to claim it under the insurance. With a zero depreciation, usually full cost of the part is reimbursed.

Cheers!

The insurance which we get from the showroom while buying the bike, isnt it by default Zero percent depreciation ?
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Also is this issue of the coolant and the engine oil mixing happening among the 2018 model Dukes 390?
This really scares me now, as you have to be on the constant lookout for the engine oil and coolant mixing happening.

Why I am asking is because for example the person doesn't pay attention to the mixing happening and rides the bike, wont he damage the engine permanently leading to further problems and ultimately the SVC saying that the customer didn't pay attention ?

I am just thinking about the worst case scenario.

Even I had this coolent leakage to engine oil issue and had to pay about 1.5 for oil.

And now after 2 months it is showing low oil pressure.. and the guy again asked to leave for servicing but not finding the time.

Great to know sdkiran.
I am expecting to be with my Duke for the initial round of services.

Did you face this coolant and engine oil mixing issue ?

Mine is 2017 model from initial batch, so i had Coolant mixing problem. The Indiranagar SVC did gr8 job, they found the problem with gasket, replaced the same, oil and Coolant. Touchwood did not have a problem from then on.

Great news
One more small confusion i have is regarding the color.

I have a white Apache so was a little bit hesitant at first to go for white Duke , but after seeing the white Duke in person.
I feel the white really outshines the orange. This is my personal feeling.

But from the front headlight, the orange looks more awesome, as the white looks all whitish from the front. So the slight confusion.

Both are awesome if kept clean.. however if you want the in your face looks then orange is the one to go else If you want a more subdued kinda looking bike then go for the white.

Poor QC from KTM while proactively losing it out on the finer details. Though as a package it's very tempting to say the least, KTM needs working upon finishing the rough edges in their armory. Coolant leakage, head warpage aren't petty issues, these are caused by poor quality parts coupled with poor sealant application which isn't acceptable be it by the automation or the manpower at their factory. The same leakage is resolved by splitting the crankcases, applying sealant and then installing them back. In fact this solution was given by KTM themselves owing to some factory machine calibration issues which applied lesser quantity sealant than the recommended quantity. All said and done, it's 2018 and it's still not totally issue free. A sad story to reckon with.
sujithbvm, all new vehicle insurance bookings will be by default taken in with NIL DEP/ZERO DEP as they are an add-on it's all covered in the insurance cost. 90% of the insurance policies are NIL DEP, but it's always wise to check your insurance paper to make sure the little word " ZERO DEP or NIL DEP is checked and added to your insurance.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

Not always.. depends from dealer to dealer and the insurance guy sitting there. If you specifically want a zero dep policy, ask for it in the beginning itself.
i've noticed that at the dealer/svc i usually visit (Earlier when ktm/kawa were together), the ktm's were by default without zero dep while the kawa's were being handed out zero dep policies(of-course there is a price diff).
