Hi guys i had asked about the review for apollo alpha h1(costs 5.9k in chennai), but since t was a relatively new tyre i never got any replies. I went ahead with the risk of trying it out.
After changing did a 1k+ kmround trip chennai - rameswaram (mostly country roads and highways, will keep you updated after taking to some twisty roads) . The tyre is every bit worth the money if its going to last 15k km. metz lasted me 8.5k km.
It feels as sticky as metzelers, initially i found it a bit difficult to lean on, but not so much now.

PS: i have no idea how to rotate those images

Finally , I bought my first bike :P and duke 390 (sold by its design and features ) . Got it on this monday (20/08/2018). 2 years/ 30000 kms warranty.

I had great fun while bringing it home and apart from that never had time to ride properly and my office is only 4-5 kms away with huge traffic (OMR, Chennai). No option but to ride slow and on lower gears in traffic.

Took it for a small ride last night on roads with less traffic and boy !!!!, this is super fun . Did not cross 6-7k rpm but had good time. I used to ride my friend's FZ 25 and now this , i can feel huge difference (pickup, rpm , tft :P ) ...but in slow , B2B traffic or slow moving traffic , i did not feel comfortable at all.. dont know if my riding is poor or throttle cable's free play , bike under 3 - 3.5 k rpm is not smooth , this should be normal judging by the comments in this thread (higher displacement with single cylinder bike). But as someone said , bike jumps like a rabbit :P at lower rpms . will this change after 1st service ?? or may be i should get used to this ?

And radiator fan is irritating , heat is manageable and did not feel much.

Definitely a head turner ..i am so happy to buy ktm duke 390 2018 as my first bike :P. And thank you all for writing your problems , opinions here ..followed this thread for a year and helped me a lot in deciding to go for this over duke 250, FZ 25 & dominor 400

First of all, congrats on getting home a wild rabbit!!
It looks cute but is a furious bike. [emoji28]
Do follow the run-in period and timely servicing and you should have a good relationship with the bike.
As far as I know the new Duke 390 has a ride by wire tech which means there's no throttle wire that mechanically controls the, ummm, throttle. [emoji16]
KTM has snatchy power delivery but it will smoothen out or you'll get accustomed to it sooner or later.

          Hi All,

I am an Ex- Dominar Owner. (which was a lemon unit, with repetitive issue of coolant mixing with engine oil).

          Query : I have now 2 choices from a KTM dealer :

          1. Buy a 2018 model for 2.68 lacs onroad with road assistance.
          2. Buy a December 2017 model with 59 kms on it with gloves, body cover, new battery and road side assistance for - 2.48 Lacs.

Confusion - Could there be chances of the older bike being misused or over-revved, is it sits in the showroom from then. As is also a display unit. Secondly is there any chances that the Dec 2017 model had some more glitches or past issues compared to the running 2018 model.

The second one is a no bakwaas proposition and a sweet one too. Not only are you saving 20k but the MY 2017 doesn't differ by a significant margin when compared to a 2018 model. What I'd recommend though is start off with a PDI.

            1. TFT console update, right from v37 to v42 the latest one being 42
            2. There have been silent recalls made which are also coined as Monsoon Kit. More details such on this can be retrieved by Googling. But basically, the rear seat stay and ECU mounts and a few change have been carried over. Make sure these were carried out.
            3. Make sure your bike falls in the extended warranty bracket. KTM issued a recent warranty extension for bikes of certain manufacturing date. Basically a year and 10,000 kays extra over the standard 2 years + 30,000 KM warranty.

Rest assured, make sure the bike has no issues with the LED lights, TFT console, get the bike ridden to its max temperature so that the cooling system is efficient and works as it should.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            THE END

What is difference between software V41 and V42 ? I bought 2018 model one week back and showroom guy told monsoon update is already done.
my bike shows v41 software version. But i can see bushes added to back seat (either side of lock bar).

Thank you a ton, surely, i will be talking to service guy as well for thorough inspection. The showroom dealer has also asked me, if i have my own mechanic/ expert to have a look at the bike.

Yes i will ask for the seat bushings and software updates. The dealer experience is much better that my previous hatred for Bajaj Dealers. Plus he does proper follow-ups.

Even for me too, I took delivery of the bike 3 weeks back. Has v41 and also facing little bugs here and there with music skipping and sometimes the name of the contact not displaying properly. Haven't faced any major issues with the console as previously reported with older versions.

                  Cheers!

                  Duke 390 (2018 - Present)
                  Honda CB Unicorn (2011 - 2017)

When I'm riding with the helmet on, I'm invisible and people just deal with me as the guy on the bike :)

                      Hi all,

I have booked the white duke 390 today.

Was confused between RR310 or for KTM. But the TVS dealers are least interest to entertain their customers, i will be very furious considering if they do this for after-sale service.
In whole Gujarat there are only 2 dealers selling RR310s (Rs. 2.55 lacs on road) and servicing them.

Although idling vibes are there in duke 390, in contrast to Dominar, but duke has lesser fiber, and is less buzzy in the rev range.

I have tested out other offerings as well BMW G310, RR310(both have vibes and lesser fun factor).

                      Regards,
                      Adarsh

Welcome to the forum. Take it easy during the running-in period. Invest in a proper set of gears, i.e. gloves, helmet, and boots. If possible, do pen down your ownership experience with pictures.

                        Ride safe!

                        Cheers!

Quick question on the first service. I am about complete 1000kms, would like to know what to look for in the first service. Also, can someone recommend any KTM service in Bangalore that is better?

                          Much Thanks!!

nothing much unless you have any specific issues.

just the routine wash, replace engine oil and oil filter, lube up the chain (adjustment is required, but mostly unlikely)

                                Hello,

I have recently noticed oil leakage in the left side of the Engine. Bike has done 13k+ on the odo. Anything alarming ? Please suggest.
