Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Starting with the crackling noise that is absolutely normal or backfiring or misfire as they're called are perfectly normal phenomenon. Secondly, the run-in RPM is make sure the bike isn't over revved during a bedding in process, but that doesn't mean the bike should always be run at a low speed. In fact, revving the bike occasionally 1k to 2k above the rev limit is not at all detrimental to the engine, rather it helps bed the engine faster as the engine gets to rev at all speeds as opposed to a fixed or slow speed which can cause glazing.Originally posted by pchetan2 View PostGuys ,
A small query on break in period :
Is it really a problem if we cross 7.5k rpm during run in period ? I gave my motorcycle to a friend and he said he crossed rpm limit once or twice on a 8 km journey back home. Saw online forums and people say these days bikes come with all tests done . Still I want to know if this is an issue ? I rode it after his ride and at high speeds , heard a crackling sound from engine , only at 5 -5 th gears and above 5.5k rpm . Is this normal as i did not hear such sound when I rode at same gear and rpm before ?
Thanks in advance
Bottomline, a new bike shouldn't be redlined, but the RPM can be varied a thousand to two thousand RPM more than what's recommended in the manual with no problem, though not all the time, though a varied RPM beds in the engine better than a slow, constant speed.
That is called the OBD scanner/reader. Those are expensive in the first place, and are unique to bikes and service centers which have the ability to read/erase codes and burn ECU data if required by the manufacturer. Though you can get Bluetooth OBD readers online as cheap as 700 bucks which connect to your mobile phone via bluetooth, they are primarily meant to check and erase codes but that's pretty much it. It's better to get your bike checked for codes at the SVC as they have the option to burn files to the ECU Module as recommended by the manufacturer. Plus, the ones that manufacturers use are not sold outside, they are strictly for in-house use, and are designed specifically by Bosch.Originally posted by saahil29 View PostCan you tell exactly what the device is ?
that goes into the OBD port?
Or share the product link if possible?
Thanks.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

The hazard flasher module actually doesn't go into the obd port, rather it plugs into another connector meant for the alarm system.. This is also located under the rear seat area.Originally posted by saahil29 View PostCan you tell exactly what the device is ?

The obd port is a 6pin connector into which the diag tool is connected to perform diagnostics and updates. The accessory/alarm port is a 14 pin port and sometimes might be hid behind the rear brake lamp area under the panel.
There are two folks selling such a unit.. Google for ktm hazard flasher 'dothediy' and 'spiralbrain' and you should find a source to buy them.
And there are plenty on videos you can watch on YouTube on these products.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys,
Recently I noticed some tapping/tak-tak noise from rear-side/under the bike while driving through speed humps/potholes/off-road.
I am sure it is one of the part being out of spec/loose but I could not isolate which part is causing this noise.
I have tighten the chain and visited SVC multiple time with no success.
Any help would be highly appreciated?Yamaha RX 100 - 1993 (2010-2012)

Check for any stuff under the seats like a tool kit that maybe isn't secured properly. make sure the bolts and nuts on the crash guard, chain guard, saree guard/rear mud guard are all secure.Originally posted by livinjoy View PostGuys,

check the front sprocket, if it has pointy teeth it's time for a replacement. also ensure the sprockets are properly tightened.Last edited by s1d; 09-07-2018, 04:18 PM.

First check and try all the things Mr. s1d has told. Most of the noise is made by the tool kit. Get each metal tool draped in cloth and then place it under your seat.Originally posted by livinjoy View PostGuys,

If all this does not help then it might be due to the rear swingarm lateral play(of about 2-3 mm)which is present in most of the dukes(even mine, play is at the place where main/longest bolt joins the chassis and the swingarm near footrests). I asked svc guys to look into it and they ended up telling that(also showed the same in few bikes standing at svc) it is in all the bikes and cannot be treated as a problem. (How to check- place your bike on side stand and try to move the swingarm right and left by grabbing it close to the bearings which goes between the chassis and swingarm, it can not be seen while the bike is on paddock as swingarm rests on it and gets fixed wrt it). Sometimes this shakes me when i go through undulations at high speed.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I had this issue where the contact name was not displaying properly, also sometimes I was not able to Accept/Reject calls from the console. Both seems to be sorted when the version was updated to AV42 during the first service done last week. Check for the version your console is running on and ask SVC to update when you get a chance (v42 being the latest).Originally posted by Dodge_Viper View PostDid you guys face any issue with incoming call display on console? I have a Pixel 2 XL and it pairs without any issues. But incoming calls are not displayed. However pressing the set button does start the Google Music Play app. Mine is a Aug 2018 model.
Also I see 2 versions of My Ride app on playstore. One is paid version for 600 bucks? Whats the difference?
Cheers!

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hello People, finally my tyres had to be changed after 11600kms on my Duke. Changed to Michelin Pilot Street, one of the trusted ones. Unfortunately i dunno of its anything other than the tyre, but its making a lot of rolling noise. Anyone else experienced this?

I ain't no better at it but could be the chain that's causing rolling noise.Originally posted by kau8552 View PostHello People, finally my tyres had to be changed after 11600kms on my Duke. When you say "tyres" I'm assuming it's the rear as well. So probably the chain needs lube and adjustment when the wheel was taken off.
This noise is audible at lower speeds or higher speeds? Coz if I apply my limited physics knowledge, the noise should pop up at higher speeds if the wheels/tyres are not aligned.Regards,
