Mostly I believe SVC will change the oil and you have to pay for that .
Anyway I will come to know in a day or two.
As I’m awaiting delivery of my duke by tomorrow.
    Will keep you updated .

Sad to see back to back and probably even worse effects in the 2017 lot. All said and done, one way to find that coolant is mixing with oil is the exhaust smell. Usually coolant when burnt have a distinct sweet smell to them, it's hard for me to explain, but it has a distinct smell, which is clearly distinguishable from the carbon and emissions smell. After your engine is ridden for some KMS check the exhaust and the engine and observe if you smell anything different, if you do, then yes we have coolant burn. There are many cases with coolant burn, but for east of understanding, we'll keep this one point.

Secondly, your engine oil color, if it's turning whitish and see frothing or foaming after the engine is ridden for some 15 plus kms, you can confirm the coolant is ever so slightly entering the crankcase or via the cylinder gasket. This will be a sort of slow poison, as the effects won't be immediate, they are gradual and can kill the motor when you least expect.

I'd also suggest you to do a leak down test to identify the issue. Your SVC can help you with this.

Now that you're topping the radiator, make sure the radiator is bled, pre-mixed coolant used and observe for a few days and do keep your observations posted here.

      Good luck.

      Cheers!

I’m my case I saw it visibly with my own eyes as the oil indicator had shown thick dark engine oil at the bottom and 5mm layer of coolant ( light yellow colour ) above the oil which was clearly visible .

Any suggestions for a straighter handle bar?
Stock one is kinda curved and this causes wrist pain on long rides.

        Ride safe and have fun.

I dont see any colour difference in engine oil but i do see a thin layer of foam above engine oil after riding for sometime.

If it's a Coolant mixing issue due to the gasket problem they don't generally charge for the new oil. It comes as part of manufacturing defect. Just make sure that they flush it clean.

                Hi Guys,

I am planning to get the Pocket rocket Duke 390 in Bangalore.
I have been riding Apache 180 RTR 1st gen, from the past 7 years, which has developed some problems lately and maintenance costs are also on the rise.

So thought now its time to upgrade and zeroed in on the Duke 390 2018.

Could you guys please point me to the best showroom in Bangalore for a haggle free purchase?

KTM Marathalli is the nearest showroom for me.

Any pointers for the best buying experience on the showroom front.

                Thank you.

Both Indiranagar and Langford Road showrooms are good. Both have decent reputation and good guys. I had purchased it from Langford road, had a pretty satisfying experience.

Thank you for the quick response.
Also could you please comment on the best service centers in Bangalore ?

Do they allow to be with the bike when it is getting serviced especially during the initial few services?

I have experience only with Indiranagar and Kasturba road ones. Both are very very decent. I did my most of services in KTM Indiranagar, they do allow you to be around with the bike during service. But no clicking photographs or shooting videos.

Done with first service and bill was 1490 inr. I was told that engine oil and consumables were changed and when i asked about oil filter.. svc guy told that it was fine and will change during next oil change. Anything else should have beed done apart from these ar first service ? And my tail light which was defective due to water being inside has been fixed under warranty.

Update regarding bent front rim : part was ordered and it would take 7 days for it to arrive. Post arrival , i have to go to service centre to get it replaced and in parallel claim insurance for it. Can i get 100 percent insurance claim ?or is it variable ?

Is the rim not covered under warranty?

Right. Rims come under wear and tear. The reason is, unless one happens to spot a defect from the showroom itself, then you're fine, the bike will be entertained a warranty, any part for that matter. Once out of the showroom, damaged rim or broken rim will always fall under the goodwill of the SVC, if they're lenient they can push it under warranty stating a defect. But as you know unlike en engine part which has failed, which can be claimed and replaced under warranty, claiming a wheel under warranty is a little tricky as all the odds are against the user.

It's best to claim it under the insurance. With a zero depreciation, usually full cost of the part is reimbursed.

                              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                              THE END

Guys got call from SVC that my duke was ready after servicing( gave in for the Coolant issue and Oil low pressure waring )

                                the bill was 3950 something.

checked my bike took for a quick ride and happy with the engine sound and exhaust felt like a new. (previously it had the cam noise which was very nagging and now significantly reduced like a new bike)

                                Happy with the servicing.

now what i was not happy is the Bill amount.. why do i have to pay for the parts replaced because of a manufacturing defect . (coolant leaking)
argued for a while and they told they charged only a minimal amount . mainly it is the 25+ minor parts plus Engine oil and coolant.

                                Labour was 850 rs.

checked with the mechanic and learnt that they had to open the full engine and changed most of the necessary small components oil seal pump seal water seal gasket , sensors , sealant etc.. and said you should not have any issue further.

labour change alone for full engine service is 3500 ,since mine was in warranty they charged minimal amount 850 it seems.

Finally after arguing i had paid 3950 and took my bike back.

Will have to run it for at-least 100 kms to say everything is fine.
