This is a rare occurrence with a new bike. Don’t let it worry you.
Check if the fan works during the PDI, unless you are satisfied with the bike don’t take delivery. And if you find any issues, which you shouldn’t, demand an immediate resolution.
Now relax and dream about places that your D can take you!! A little bit of love for your D will take you farther and bring you back home!!

    Cheers!!!

The fan issue happened to me as well, my bike is 3months old and after 1st service I found fan noise to reduce drastically, thought it's a good sign but later bike started throwing high temperature error, and one fine day it stopped in middle of traffic, all this while I thought it's a heavy engine hence heating...called up the dealer to know if that's how it is he said yes it's he common due to heavy engine ( this was Bangalore Bannerghatta road ), I knew that's not how it should be so took the bike to nearest BTM SVC and they found fan to be faulty.....seems the issue is with stock fans as I have seen most of new 390 having the issue

I got my bike's radiator fan issue fixed today. Turns out the fuse was blown due to a stone hitting it via mudgaurd/radiator grill. Also coolant leaking was due to fan not turning on and coolant overflowed. Service centre charge me through... surprisingly 6 rupees.

            Hi guys,

got a 2017 duke 390, 7500 kms on the ODO.
facing engine overheating or high engine temp warning or all 8 bars in temp gauge in just 15-30 mins of bumper to bumper traffic (half clutch, 1st or 2nd gear).
For example belandur to marathalli bridge on ORR in Bengaluru in peak hours.

engine oil, spark plug, oil filter, air filter etc changed at 6500km. fan working fine, coolant at mid level
In service centre, with engine running in neutral, fan comes at 95c ( 4 bars in temp gauge) and shuts down once temp comes down to 89c

what could be the issue ?

Was engine oil not changed at service centre? did not notice any smoothness after change. how to check it??

Could it be a faulty sensor or a software glitch?
Take a screenshot or a video and show it to the service center guys.. 👍👍

A fuse blowing out due to rock hitting the radiator is highly unlikely. A blown fuse can mean lots of things, nevertheless your problem is solved. Do observe the fan and the fuse so that there aren't any electrical malfunctions.

Overheating of the engine during B2B traffic is normal, given at crawling speeds they issue is exacerbated. As long as the bike only heats up during B2B and not really during normal commutes and high speed stints, there is nothing to worry about. You can try Engine Ice coolant or Motul MotoCool Expert, worthy alternate to stock Inugel Expert.

Engine Ice is available on most Indian e-commerce sites, which I'd recommend you to give a try.

                Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                THE END

Does the fan kick in when your riding in peak traffic? If so, does the engine/coolant temperature on the gauge increase when the fan is on? If it does increase then there may be issues with sensors and/or the fan itself.

Also, check with service guys about the direction (clockwise or anti-clockwise) in which the fan runs and cools the engine/coolant temperature and if your bikes radiator fan setting is in sync.

I am not a technical guy but trying isolate the issue one step at a time.

Yes, the stone case is unlikely but i was told this by service centre guy that he found stone :P. Anyway, it is raining daily here in Chennai and I am riding it in rain and stagnated water, way from work to home is not so good. And due to rains, there is a lot of mud and dust on the bike, I am afraid to clean with water as I don't know how to use water spray properly as 390 has more electricals.

Even i have, the doubt on cleaning the bike as I seen the bike, at the, dealer where there were lot of water bubbles inside, the headlight and taillight assembly. Don't know what will happen to the electricals in such scenario.

Is it safe, to water wash the Duke 390 with high pressure water which is normal thingy being done, at washing places??

The bike can be pressured washed except for the radiator and fan. No pressure wash for these parts. A simple water & soap wash isn’t harmful.

Need help guys, I own a OnePlus 3t with Android 8.0 and the duke 390 software is up-to-date and have installed the my ride app too, whenever I try to play music using apps like Amazon/ganna/Jio etc the mobile takes me back to Google music,

This is kind of off topic but thought this is the right forum as most of us must have come across this issue.

Steps I have tried, removed Google music.... uninstall and unpaired mobile Bluetooth and my ride app.....have flashed the mobile with beta version

Everytime it takes me to Google music or will take me to play store Google music page to download it

Fan starts as soon as temp reaches 4 bars. In normal traffic temp stays at 4 bars or 5 bars..............fan shuts down if temp does not increase much
Only in 15-30 mins of B2B traffic, fan kicks in at 4 bars and is continuously on till temp reaches 8 bars or engine temp high warning. After engine temp high warning, engine power drops drastically. Then I have to shut the bike for 15-20 mins and then start again....
I am not able to ride the bike within the city as 30 mins to 1 hour of B2B traffic is common in all big cities

Buddy, how loud is the fan noise ? Asking it as I had the same issue and thought it's cos of big engine...later found fan was not running at the speed it's suppose to be it was running very slow thus was making less fan noise....also show the bike to BTM Svc they were the one who found the problem, Bannerghatta Svc were helpless

                                Cool dude .. Thankyou

Any pointers on the immediate accessories for the Duke like radiator guard, fork protectors
Next i have to invest on a good wind-screen for wind deflection. Will aliexpress be good to source it ?
Also any links for the cover for the bike ?

Sorry for so many doubts at one shot.
