pchetan2 - check the physical connections when the engine is cold. If everything checks out then start and idle the bike for sometime. Constantly monitor the temperature gauge and check if the fan kicks in. It’s best to time till the fan kicks in.

I suggest you take the bike to the nearest service at the earliest.Originally posted by pchetan2 View PostI didn't hear any sound coming from fan..May be it didn't turn on...i rode my bike in rain today and yes even in morning i didn't not hear fan sound...i ll get it checked at service centre
Also check the coolant level as well as the engine oil level, if they are at the prescribed level then either the fan has loose electrical connections/fan has gone kaput or there may be an issue with the coils.

How long does it take for fan turn on when i start bike in idle ?Originally posted by JN8304 View Postpchetan2 - no this isn’t normal. didn’t the radiator fan kick in before the warning sign? If it didn’t then get your bike to the service at the earliest.

I don’t own the new model but from my experience with a 2015 model which I owned till end of 2016, the fan should turn on within 3-5 mins depending on the engine and ambient temperature.Originally posted by pchetan2 View PostHow long does it take for fan turn on when i start bike in idle ?

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
If the fan doesn't turn on at 4bars of temp then theres a issue.. for emergency case if the fan doesn't switch on at 4bar then try turning the fan with a stick or something, if it starts working then u can ride it with no issues till u reach ur destination. I had the same issue.Originally posted by JN8304 View Postabhiiceman did you get the issue fixed, if so, what was diagnosed and solution given by the service.

abhiiceman how was the issue fixed on your bike, please let us know.
pchetan2-fan not turning on is an issue, please don’t try to fix it yourself. Your best bet is to get it checked at the service since your bike is new

Did you check the coolant and oil levels, if so, are they at the prescribed level?Originally posted by pchetan2 View PostFan did not turn on even after 4 bars and using stick and i found some kind of leakage from top of engine on left side ...pictures attached
That leakage may be from the coolant, please get the coolant hose checked.
Also ask the service guys to do a complete diagnostic check to rule out any sensor issues.
All the best!!

I did check coolant in a while after starting bike in idle but found nothing at coolant indicator. I always had this issue , once i got it topped up at service centre. I will take my bike to service center tomorrow. Engine oil level is fineOriginally posted by JN8304 View PostDid you check the coolant and oil levels, if so, are they at the prescribed level?

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
1. the coolant level should not drop and should be between the min-max at all times.. if not, you either have an internal or external leak somewhere.Originally posted by pchetan2 View PostI did check coolant in a while after starting bike in idle but found nothing at coolant indicator. 2. the fan should kick in, if it did not then there might be a problem with the fan relay, coolant temp sensor, maybe thermostat, or the fan itself. The fan doesn't come of after X minutes but at a specific coolant temperature.
Kindly get it thoroughly checked at the svc.

Did the service centres tell anything about why it happened in the first place??Originally posted by pchetan2 View PostI did check coolant in a while after starting bike in idle but found nothing at coolant indicator. Today only I booked my bike after paying the downpayment and when I come to the Duke 390 thread, I get to see this scary coolant/oil leaking pics from the Duke 390 😕😕.
