Also keeps revs always below RPM1 rather than maintaining below some certain km/hr, do not exceed the set RPM1 when the shift light starts to blink.

And yes, the bike teaches you and needs lot of self control and patience
      Thank you bro

And I didn't get what you said about the RPM1. ...What is RPM1?

Also the showroom guy told me that the RPM limiter is set, but I don't know what limit he has set.
Anyways I am not going above 4k RPM and keep varying the speed. Only couple of times i went above the 4K RPM mark that too may be like 4.2 RPM, but not beyond that.

Also I didn't see the shift light blink even once also.

I had to go through the manual, but due to office work I was not able to go through it also.

Totally bro. 2 weeks back I was like which bike to buy, and now I have a Duke 390.
Wound not have been possible without the help of you guys. Thank you all once again

What is the tire pressure you guys fill ? 28.5 in the front and 32 in the rear is recommended by KTM. Since 28.5 is not possible, I have gone ahead with 28 in the front. I hope this is correct and good for the bike and tyre life

You can go till 7k rpm. And even beyond once or twice it doesn’t affect too much.

You can easily touch 110-120kmph on 6th gear around 7k rpm.

Just don’t exceed 7k rpm too often .

Don’t think too much about this and enjoy your ride.

Congratulation on your purchase. Have fun especially on city roads :P and regarding tyre pressure , it depends on what type of suspension you need (hard or stiff). I go with 29 for front and 32 for back.

Btw , Am i the only one who liked orange more than white ?? :P , white looks good but I was afriad to clean it and liked orange more

Enjoying the bike to the fullest now. Very difficult to keep it under 70 km per hr in the running period.
Its like as it has been said many times on this forum, the bike is a beast which wants to unleash itself all the time.
            Thank you for the details.
Got the bike and enjoying it to the fullest now
Welcome officially to the KTM club. Ride safe, invest in a proper set of gears. Follow the manual, but don't follow it religiously. Vary the RPM, let her open up with varying RPMs and 100 KMPH max isn't gonna hurt the motorcycle. Try not to lug the engine and excessive redlining and you're all set. Enjoy the bike to the fullest.

Keep your ride and review posted.

            Ride safe!

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

            THE END

Looks like showroom guys din't explain all features fully before delivery, so I suggest you to go through the manual first and understand the bike fully first(even if you think you already know everything).

RPM1 and RPM2 are two RPM values that you can configure on the TFT console, by default RPM1 will be set to 5K and RPM2 to 7K(or 7.5K I am not sure on the 2017 390) by showroom, SVC will increase it gradually after 1st, 2nd service.

RPM1 - If you current RPM crosses this value then the shift light starts to blink rapidly.
RPM2 - If you cross this value the shift lights goes from blinking to always on until you shift.

Ya, you are right. Thinking too much will spoil the fun of this new beast

Ya, he also didnt explain the Bluetooth connectivity with the phone too. I also missed it as i was too excited to remember it .

I thought just give me the bike so that i can ride it. Eagerly waiting for 1000 kms to get over. hee hee..

Will go through the manual. Thank you for the information on RPM1 and RPM2. I didnt cross 5K RPM even once also, so I guess thats why I didnt see any light blinking.

Got a SMK twister helmet from amazon with size L and my head size is 59 cm. Rynoz jacket is also in the pipeline.

Seems to be a little more tighter as my cheeks are getting more pressed. Also removing the helmet is really difficult. Feels like tearing my ears off. Is it suppose to be like this with new helmets ?

I am guessing once the cheekpads and the helmet sets in, it will more comfortable.
Wondering should I go for the size XL ??

I have also gone with the same tire pressures for now.

According to the dealer both colors are getting sold equally

                Cheers

The SMK range helmets have extremely tight fit, they press your cheeks and as you've rightly stated, you wish your ears wasn't part of your anatomy. I would strongly recommend you to go for Size XL. Usually most heads in India are a size L, and though the measurements on their site states what a common L size would be, their fit is the exact opposite. You might even have pressure points towards the middle of the head on some helmets, so make sure that isn't the case with yours. If possible, make sure you try the helmet in person and then purchase.

This helmet needs sometime to get adapted too and take the shape of ones head. Once the pads are a little flexible, they fit well.

For any future Helmet related queries, post your queries here.

                  Cheers!

Yes bro.. Actually i tried already visiting couple of shops to get the size right, but most places it was out of stock or only the smallest size was available.
I had tried MT helmets and size L was perfect for me in MT brand. So went with size L in SMK too.

Will order the size XL and check it out too.

I just realized something surprising after seeing a Youtube video which I randomly came across, sujithbvm's 390 is infact the 2019 Model Year 390 which I am guessing is the first one on the forum or anywhere else that I have come across till now!

2019 model has different style grab rail compared to the 2017-2018 model 390's which I had failed to notice until now in the pics posted above!

sujithbvm, not sure if you were aware about is or not!

No dude, I am not aware of this.
But isn't it too early for 2019 model to show up.
I thought somewhere around Feb March next year 2019 models for Duke will show up.

I can inquire with the dealer if thats the case.
My bikes manufacturing date is 29th October, 2018.

So it's just out of the facility. And I chose it as it was the newest one in the lot available to me.

If indeed it's the 2019 model, then it's great 😉😉

Just saw the video. My grab rails are like the newer model. I guess there are not much changes in the model that's why may be the Ktm guys didn't tell me about it or may be they themselves don't know

ktm has the habit of adding/changing/upgrading stuff all year around.. so it bound to happen you see new/changed/added parts.
been happening since the 200's ... they don't really announce these changes but silently make such changes to improve the bike.
not sure if this is the official MY2019... who knows, the MY2019 may have more changes.
and a MY doesn't have to be launched in the year specified.. it could be a few months prior i.e. towards the end of the prev year.
don't worry too much about this.. just enjoy the bike now that you have it.

not sure if this is the official MY2019... who knows, the MY2019 may have more changes.
and a MY doesn't have to be launched in the year specified.. it could be a few months prior i.e. towards the end of the prev year.
don't worry too much about this.. just enjoy the bike now that you have it.
                                True that bro 👌👌
